After the Governor of California filed a defamation lawsuit against the right-wing news network for $787 million in damages for claiming he lied about a recent phone call with Donald Trump, Newsom refuted their claim that his lawsuit was a way to "chill" free speech.

Gavin Newsom pursued legal action against Fox News after host Jesse Watters said the leader of the West Coast state lied about an exchange he shared with Donald Trump in June. In response to the lawsuit, the right-leaning cable news channel said, "Governor Newsom's transparent publicity stunt is frivolous and designed to chill free speech critical of him. We will defend this case vigorously and look forward to it being dismissed."

During an appearance on Brian Tyler Cohen's podcast, Gavin Newsom criticized Fox News' response to his allegations that they lied about his correspondence with Donald Trump and highlighted how they had handled the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit similarly. "They knew they had lied in that original statement against Dominion," he said. "They're lying in this case. I mean, look at the chyron you just put up. [It] says, 'Gavin Lied About Call [With] Trump.' Period. Full Stop. I mean, I don't know what more smoking gun you need. … And so, look, this organization, it needs to be held to account. … I think what's so frustrating, I think for all of us, is they learned no lessons from that defamation case as it relates to Dominion. Nothing! They continue the practices that led to that record-breaking settlement. That's why this needed to be filed and that's why we felt compelled to make this case and to assert ourselves. Look, if they want to apologize, they can apologize, and if they want to hide behind these lies, they'll pay a price."

Gavin Newsom claims in his lawsuit that the last time he spoke with Donald Trump was on June 7 — for about 16 minutes regarding the president's decision to send 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles to combat ICE protests. On June 10, Jesse Watters claimed Trump and Newsom had a conversation "a day ago." After filing the suit on Friday, June 27, the 57-year-old noted in a statement, "If Fox News wants to lie to the American people on Donald Trump's behalf, it should face consequences — just like it did in the Dominion case. I believe the American people should be able to trust the information they receive from a major news outlet. Until Fox is willing to be truthful, I will keep fighting against their propaganda machine."

Dems Suffer Blow on Battle Over Trump's War Powers

Democrats came up short in a Senate hearing where they pushed for more oversight on President Donald Trump's military actions against Iran. The Senate voted on a resolution that would require the president to seek congressional approval before launching additional strikes on Iran — a measure that failed to pass.

The resolution was rejected in a 53-47 vote during the hearing. One Democrat, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, voted with Republicans. On the other side of the aisle, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the only Republican to support the measure. Most Republicans argued that Iran poses an imminent threat and that President Donald Trump must have the ability to act swiftly. "Of course, we can debate the scope and strategy of our military engagements," Sen. Bill Hagerty said. "But we must not shackle our president in the middle of a crisis when lives are on the line."

President Donald Trump launched strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran on June 22 — without seeking approval from Congress. Democrats criticized the move, questioning Bill Hagerty's reasoning and arguing that Trump should have consulted Congress first. Lawmakers also said they were left in the dark, with the first formal briefing not taking place until a couple days prior. "The idea is this: We shouldn't send our sons and daughters into war unless there's a political consensus that this is a good idea, this is a national interest," Senator Tim Kaine told the Associated Press. Kaine emphasized that the resolution wasn't about limiting the president's ability to respond to immediate threats but "making the right decision."

Supporters of the resolution cited the War Powers Resolution of the 1970s, which requires the president "in every possible instance" to "consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces." In a letter to Congress on Monday, June 30, President Donald Trump defended the strikes as "limited in scope and purpose" and "designed to minimize casualties, deter future attacks and limit the risk of escalation." However, some leaders remain skeptical, especially after Trump said he would "without question" bomb Iran again if he believes it's necessary.

'Jurassic Park Rebirth' Reviews: What the Critics Say

Despite being part of a blockbuster franchise, is the film worth the price of admission?

According to Amy Nicholson of the Los Angeles Times, Jurassic World Rebirth proves that the long-running movie franchise may have jumped the shark. "Rebirth is a confounding title for a downbeat entry that's mostly preoccupied by death and neglect. Who knows whether we're at the head or tail of the Anthropocene, but the movie seems weary of our dominion," she writes in part. "With the franchise officially out of ideas, how about skipping to Jurassic Park: One Million Years A.D. so a futuristic species can resurrect us for some malevolent fun and games?"

IGN's Clint Gage noted that Jurassic World Rebirth leaves much to be desired for moviegoers seeking the magic of the other films in the franchise. "Rebirth is, when it comes down to it, just 'more teeth,' the mostly cheesy line from Jurassic World poking fun at the absurdity of daring to ask 'How do we make bringing dinosaurs back to life interesting again?'" he wrote. "What Jurassic World was trying to make fun of, Rebirth ultimately became. It's a very okay, middling movie, with nothing egregiously wrong about it aside from the fact that it ignores one of the franchise's most iconic lines."

On a more positive note, Variety's Peter Debruge felt Jurassic World Rebirth recaptures some of the magic of the original 1993 film, though it doesn't necessarily give itself a unique edge. "The movie offers an updated version of the same basic ride [Steven] Spielberg offered 32 years earlier and yet, it hardly feels essential to the series' overall mythology," he noted. "Nor does it signal where the franchise could be headed."

The New York Post's Johnny Oleksinski was less than impressed with the creativity in the flick and questioned the need to continue the line of films by giving it one star. "Universal and Amblin [Entertainment] should have ended this franchise after 2022's appalling Dominion, in which the well was so dry that the main conflict was prehistoric locusts gobbling up crops. The premise has become an overgrown weed and it's time to put it — and us — out of our misery," he wrote.

Vulture's Alison Willmore called Jurassic World Rebirth "boring" even with its action-packed plot. "Rebirth, despite referencing and revising beats from the [Steven]Spielberg original, including a chase that echoes the velociraptor kitchen scene and a remix of the first T. rex attack, never generates energy with its dino encounters," she wrote. "Even its own big bad, the Distortus rex, a massive mutant dino with a set of extra limbs and a bulbous forehead more suited to an extraterrestrial, is underwhelming."

The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw enjoyed the movie and credited Scarlett Johansson's stand-out performance. Despite giving it four stars, the journalist emphasized how it's time for new concepts in Hollywood. "It feels relaxed and sure-footed in its [Steven] Spielberg pastiche, its big dino-jeopardy moments and its deployment of thrills and laughs. Maybe the series can't and shouldn't go on forever: we need new and original ideas. This one would be great to go out on," he wrote.

According to a new Gallup poll, only 36% of Democrats are "extremely proud" to be American as political tensions in the country continue to rise. There's reportedly a 56 percentage point difference between Democrats and Republicans since 2001.

Only 4 in 10 adults who are considered part of Gen Z have felt proud of their American citizenship over the past five years. While Gen Z isn't enthusiastic about their nationality, 6 in 10 Millennials are, and 7 in 10 older adults are proud the be American.

Jeffrey Jones, who is a senior editor at Gallup, acknowledged that the shift in trends aligns with social evolution. "Each generation is less patriotic than the prior generation, and Gen Z is definitely much lower than anybody else," he said. "But even among the older generations, we see that they're less patriotic than the ones before them, and they've become less patriotic over time. That's primarily driven by Democrats within those generations."

At the beginning of the Iraq War and other tumultuous eras of modern American history, about 9 in 10 adults were still "extremely" or "very" proud of their American citizenship. Pride dropped to about 8 in 10 in 2006 and continued to decline after that. Now, 58% of surveyed adults believe the nation is on a downward path.

While Democrats responded more positively during Joe Biden's presidential term, Jeffrey Jones avoided blaming Donald Trump for the shifts. "It's not just a Trump story," he said. "Something else is going on, and I think it's just younger generations coming in and not being as patriotic as older people."

Despite Elon Musk helping Donald Trump with the Department of Government Efficiency and supporting his 2024 campaign, the Tesla founder stanchly came out against the proposed budget reconciliation legislation.

"If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day," Musk penned in a message shared to X on Monday, June 30. "Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE."

In a post shared hours earlier, the 54-year-old claimed the bill was packed with "insane spending" and would add "FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS" to the national debt.

Megyn Kelly accused Zohran Mamdani of being "out there cosplaying like a third-world person, because he lived in Uganda for the first seven years and then moved here. He's 33. This video of him eating with his fingers is circulating while he's talking about how he understands the third world."

"That's not how somebody who's an American eats, but it's him cosplaying third world person and understanding third world even though his mother is a multi-millionaire film director and his father is a chair professor at Columbia," Kelly stated.

The TV host also commented on how Zohran Mamdani, who grew up in Uganda before immigrating to the U.S. at the age of 7, was raised by celebrated filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani.

"[Mamdani] talked her out of doing it in favor of directing something that was more akin with their values, and that made $20 million," Kelly said, in reference to Nair turning down directing a Harry Potter film. "This is the guy who's going to be our economic steward in America's greatest city? Once you forgo the billion-dollar film for the $20 million film, because it'll make me feel good about myself."

Before winning 44% of votes during the Democratic Primary, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Zohran Mamdani, which the journalist was less than pleased with.

"She's a liar. She's another cosplayer," Megyn Kelly said. "Anyone can do what she's doing. You look at your circumstances and talk about them in the most dire terms possible, to make yourself sound tougher than you are, to make it sound like you overcame more than you did, and, in her case, to make it sound like you have street cred when you try to fight the oligarchy. Honestly."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose district is in both Queens and the Bronx, often mentions where she grew up, however, Megyn Kelly pointed out that the politician moved to the suburbs when she was five.

"What she wants to do is to inflate the five years of Bronx living when she was a toddler, into her actual origin story," Kelly said.

While criticizing Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Megyn Kelly discussed her own struggles after her father died. "I could sit here and say I was raised by a single mom who was a nurse, who put me through college with their own blood, sweat, and tears. It's true. All of that is true, except there's some context," Kelly said. "For the first 15 years of my life, I had an intact family."

"My dad was alive and well, and was a college professor … And we were double-income family, and my mom was within nine credits of getting her PhD, and was eventually a nursing manager, and then my dad died suddenly, and my mom did have to put me through college with my dad's insurance money," Kelly continued. "So yeah, we had some knocks, but you see what I'm saying, leaving out the other part would lead you to think I had a much tougher childhood than I really did."

Trump Threatens Journalists Over Leaks

The war between Donald Trump and the media rages on.

During an interview with Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, the president hinted that federal investigators would be going after reporters to tell the government who released the "low confidence" preliminary Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment that claimed the United States' strike on Iran was less successful than Trump is making it out to be.

During the sit-down, Donald Trump suggested whoever leaked the report that the damage caused by the airstrikes on Iran wasn't as bad as the right-winger claimed they were should be prosecuted.

"They could find out easily. And you go up and tell the reporter, 'National security, who gave it?' You have to do that. And, I suspect will be doing things like that," Trump said. "They did obliterate it, it turned out. We had to suffer the fake news with the fake news of CNN and the New York Times, [which were] saying, 'Well, maybe it wasn't as good as Trump said. Maybe it wasn't totally obliterated.' It turned out, no, it was obliterated like nobody's ever seen before. And that meant the end to their nuclear ambitions, at least for a period of time."

Following the military action of Donald Trump against Iran in support of Israel, senators and House lawmakers in Washington, D.C., were briefed on the airstrikes. However, many Democratic politicians were left confused over the damage caused to the nuclear sites.

"Right now, we have no final battle damage assessment that would enable us to be comfortable or complacent about what has been done," Richard Blumenthal, a left-wing Senator from Connecticut, said.

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy added, "What President Trump told the country is that Iran's nuclear capability was obliterated. And it just was not obliterated. In fact, the International Atomic Energy Commission just confirmed that we only set back their program by a handful of months."

Although Donald Trump insists Iran's nuclear sites were completely taken out, International Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi claims they could have their operations back up and running in the near future.

"They can have, you know, in a matter of months, I would say, a few cascades of centrifuges spinning and producing enriched uranium, or less than that," Grossi explained during an interview with Face the Nation.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei took to X to suggest Donald Trump may be embellishing the extent of the damage.

"The President of the United States, in describing what happened, exaggerated unusually, which turned out to be necessary for that exaggeration," he wrote. "Anyone who heard those words understood that beneath their surface, another truth existed. They couldn't do anything and exaggerated to cover up and conceal the truth."

According to Diamant Hysenaj, enduring hardship and witnessing war in his native Kosovo will help him serve the people of New York in Washington, D.C., better than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

"I came here as a young kid and had to make my way in a tough neighborhood in The Bronx. My life could have gone another direction, but I worked hard, tried to fit in as best I could as an outsider and achieved the American Dream: a successful business, a beautiful family and a calling to serve," the 42-year-old explained in an interview.

"I am running for Congress to make our streets safer, reform a broken immigration system and improve the decaying infrastructure in our district. Meanwhile, AOC is flying on private jets to preach socialism everywhere else, while the people of the 14th District suffer," he claimed. "I am fighting for a country where every voice matters, not just the privileged elite. With the help of the great people of the 14th district, over 50% of whom are immigrants just like me."

As Donald Trump continues to crack down on immigration, Diamant Hysenaj believes his story will resonate with the residents of New York who have fought to build better lives for themselves in the United States.

"Imagine a story that runs through nearly half of NY-14 — immigrants, dreamers like me," the entrepreneur said. "It begins on a dusty farm in Kosovo, 1982. Thirty-six of us — cousins, aunts, uncles — crammed into three weathered houses, alive with laughter and my nana's cooking. My parents, hands rough from factory shifts in the old Yugoslav regime, carved out a life that felt golden to me. I was a kid then, chasing chickens, oblivious to the war creeping closer — shielded by love, by family, by a world they kept steady just for us. That was my beginning."

"Then, 1991. Fade to black. A dictator's grip tightens and we're gone — my parents, my sister, me, a suitcase of hope — landing in The Bronx. The streets hit hard: gangs lurking, a skinny kid scrapping to belong. No welfare, just work," he continued. "I rebuilt from zero once, found my passion in real estate. Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan — homes, restaurants, buildings — I built them, hired hundreds, made this city my canvas."

Despite Diamant Hysenaj throwing his hat in the ring, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's star only continues to rise ahead of her run to win back her seat for the fifth time.

After the liberal politician endorsed Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York, he clinched a victory over Andrew Cuomo.

Ocasio-Cortez's name has also been mentioned as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential election.

In a statement, Thom Tillis made it clear he doesn't like the way Washington, D.C., is currently operating under Donald Trump.

"In Washington over the last few years, it's become increasingly evident that leaders who are willing to embrace bipartisanship, compromise and demonstrate independent thinking are becoming an endangered species," the right-winger explained. "It's not a hard choice and I will not be seeking re-election."

"When people sue independent thinking on the other side, they cheer. But when those very same people see independent thinking coming from their side, they scorn, ostracize and even censure them," he added of the vitriol. "Too many elected officials are motivated by pure raw politics who really don't give a d*** about the people they promised to represent on the campaign trail."

"As many of my colleagues have noticed over the last year and at times even joked about, I haven't exactly been excited about running for another term," Tillis noted. "That is true since the choice is between spending another six years navigating the political theatre and partisan gridlock in Washington or spending that time with the love of my life Susan, our two children, three beautiful grandchildren."

Thom Tillis stepping down from his position comes as rumors swirl about Donald Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump possibly running for the seat. The 42-year-old was born in Wilmington, N.C.

"A source close to the Trump family says Lara Trump is 'strongly considering jumping in the race,'" an insider claimed. "Asked about the odds that she runs for #NCSEN to replace Tillis, the source says: 'I'd put it as high as one could be considering it. The race will be over before it begins.'"

In 2022, there was rampant speculation Lara would try to jump into the race when former Republican Senator Richard Burr's seat opened up. However, she refrained.

According to sources, the Trump administration also believes Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley could also be a candidate for Thom Tillis' seat.

"Dependent upon whether or not President Trump endorses somebody it could be an open primary," Thom said during an interview of who could be his potential successor. "He could close it out and the party could get behind it. I suspect that's what they do. "

"I'm religious, but I'm not religious. You know what I mean?" Morales said. "And people go, 'Oh, I'm spiritual as a fad, but I just know something, somebody out there in here all around loves me enough that has not allowed me to destroy myself.'"

"Whoever did this, the shooter has done so much damage to the left," Maher falsely said, as shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was a registered Republican. "[The left] has lost a lot moral high ground in the 'you're the violent people' and the 'liberals don't shoot people, liberals don't solve it that way.'"

Bill Maher also discussed the attempted murder on the "Friend in High Places" podcast. "It'd be different if he [Trump] got killed. No tragedy happened — well, for one guy," Maher said.

"A guy shoots at Trump, the guy behind him gets shot and killed — that's so Trump," Maher continued. "It's just so, it's just so on brand to have the other guy …. he never goes to jail. He never loses money in bankruptcy. It's always somebody else holding the bullet or the bag."

Speaking at a judges' conference in North Carolina, John Roberts urged that rising political hostility toward the judiciary is putting lives at risk: "I've been compelled over the past few years to make statements about people on one side of the aisle – their views on judges – and on the other side," he said on Saturday, June 28. "It becomes wrapped up in the political dispute that a judge who's doing his or her job is part of the problem," he continued. "And the danger, of course, is somebody might pick up on that. And we have had, of course, serious threats of violence and murder of judges just simply for doing their work." Roberts emphasized that the issue crosses party lines, adding that both Democrats and Republicans need to be mindful of their words and the consequences.

John Roberts' latest comments came just after the Supreme Court ruled that lower courts cannot issue sweeping, nationwide injunctions — a decision viewed as a major win for President Donald Trump. The case specifically involved a group of Maryland parents fighting for the right to opt out their children from reading LGBTQ-themed books in school curriculums.

Concerns over political violence aimed at the judiciary have grown in recent years. In mid-June, former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in an attack that also injured state Senator John Hoffman and his wife. The attack sparked calls for greater protection for public officials. Last year, Congress approved a $25 million budget to enhance security for Supreme Court justices. In response to growing disapproval of the courts, John Roberts pushed back, saying much of the criticism aimed at judges often comes from those unhappy with the outcome of cases: "It's not the judge's fault that a correct interpretation of the law meant that, no, you don't get to do this," Roberts said. "If it's just venting because you lost, then that's not terribly helpful."

Taking to X, Elon Musk reignited his criticism of President Donald Trump's legislation, writing, "The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" He added that the bill favors outdated industries at the expense of innovation: "Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future," he claimed. The bill has already passed in the House and is now under Senate review.

Elon Musk's latest comments follow earlier disapproval of the bill. "So we're just going to have to assume that Pete Hegseth was stone-cold sober today when he said something that sounds like it belongs in the great Comedy Central TV series Drunk History."

"After President Obama listened to the plan and simply said, 'Go.' That's the way it works, and that was a much more complex and secretive military operation than the bombing run Donald Trump publicly talked about before he authorized. There was nothing secretive about the possibility that Donald Trump might approve the bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities. Donald Trump publicly said that he might do that."

"Franklin Delano Roosevelt did not publicly say that he might approve an invasion of Normandy on D-Day in World War II sometime in the next two weeks — there's nothing secretive about a president saying, 'I might order the bombing sometime in the next two weeks,' and there is nothing complex about a single bombing run over a country that has no air defenses left because Israel took them out already," Lawrence O'Donnell continued.

Lawrence O'Donnell doubled down on his alcoholism claims about the Secretary of Defense: "Pete Hegseth promised Republican senators that he would not drink if he became secretary of defense, but he did not promise that he would not sound drunk," he said. "The single most complex and secretive military operation in history was, in fact, the D-Day invasion that has been the subject of hundreds of books, dozens and dozens of movies, none of which can capture the full complexity of the years of preparation and planning and the secretive, intense discipline that made D-Day the successful turning point in World War II that it was."

Reports continue to surface of individuals being apprehended by federal agents, fueling a wave of anxiety across the city. Whether documented or not, some feel they could be targeted next, according to a local immigration attorney.

As of Wednesday, June 25, more than 1,600 immigrants have been detained in Southern California over the course of just two weeks, according to the Department of Homeland Security. But it's not only official ICE agents whom residents need to worry about — there are now vigilantes impersonating federal officers. According to KTLA, a man was recently arrested for possibly posing as a federal agent. He was found with a loaded gun, forged documents, police gear and a vehicle outfitted with flashing lights. With stories like this surfacing daily, many Angelenos are left wondering what's next.

"People are staying home. It does feel very scary out there right now," immigration attorney Jaclyn Granet told TheWrap. "It's incredibly disturbing to witness — not just as a human, but as an immigration attorney working with foreign talent," she added. When asked if the level of force used by ICE agents is necessary, Granet didn't hesitate: "Absolutely not. That is part of the chaos and scare tactics meant to be communicated through these raids. Part of President Donald Trump's plan is to create chaos."

President Donald Trump has long vowed to carry out mass deportations — and this June, ICE operations in Los Angeles intensified, with no sign of them slowing down. Trump took to social media on June 15 to urge ICE to "do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in history." His order included "expanding efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside."

Amy Coney Barrett had some choice words for her fellow Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Following the 6-3 decision that limited the lower court's ability to stop Donald Trump's anti–birthright citizenship order from being enforced, the conservative member of the court attacked the more liberal-leaning justice's dissent on the matter.

In a scathing rebuke of Ketanji Brown Jackson, Amy Coney Barrett made it clear she did not agree with her left-leaning co-worker's stance on the decision that gives Donald Trump more power: "We will not dwell on Justice Jackson's argument, which is at odds with more than two centuries' worth of precedent, not to mention the Constitution itself," she wrote. "We observe only this: Justice Jackson decries an imperial Executive while embracing an imperial Judiciary. … Analyzing the governing statute involves boring 'legalese,' [Jackson] seeks to answer 'a far more basic question of enormous practical significance: May a federal court in the United States of America order the Executive to follow the law?'" Continued Barrett, "It is unnecessary to consider whether Congress has constrained the Judiciary; what matters is how the Judiciary may constrain the Executive. Justice Jackson would do well to heed her own admonition: '[E]veryone, from the President on down, is bound by law.' That goes for judges too."

Ketanji Brown Jackson's dissent to the Supreme Court's ruling emphasized the damage that could be caused to American residents and Democracy as a whole: "It is not difficult to predict how this all ends. Eventually, executive power will become completely uncontainable and our beloved constitutional Republic will be no more," she wrote. "Quite unlike a rule-of-kings governing system, in a rule of law regime, nearly '[e]very act of government may be challenged by an appeal to law. At the very least, I lament that the majority is so caught up in minutiae of the Government's self-serving, finger-pointing arguments that it misses the plot."

Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor also expressed her disapproval of the ruling in a dissent of her own. However, Amy Coney Barrett didn't mind the 71-year-old's opinion, calling it "conventional legal terrain, like the Judiciary Act of 1789 and our cases on equity." Sotomayor said in her legal writing, "No right is safe in the new legal regime the Court creates. Today, the threat is to birthright citizenship. Tomorrow, a different administration may try to seize firearms from law-abiding citizens or prevent people of certain faiths from gathering to worship."

Zohran Mamdani discussed his commitment to New Yorkers in the Sunday, June 29, episode of Meet the Press: "You are a self-described democratic socialist. Do you think that billionaires have a right to exist?" Kristen Welker asked the politician. "I don't think that we should have billionaires because, frankly, it is so much money in a moment of such inequality, and, ultimately, what we need more of is equality across our city and across our state and across our country," Mamdani replied. "And I look forward to working with everyone, including billionaires, to make a city that is fairer for all of them."

Donald Trump has branded Zohran Mamdani a "communist," which the mayoral candidate denied: "No, I am not," he said when asked if he identifies as a communist. "And I have already had to start to get used to the fact that the president will talk about how I look, how I sound, where I'm from, who I am — ultimately because he wants to distract from what I'm fighting for."

Zohran Mamdani also shared that his voter base is comparable to Donald Trump's: "I'm fighting for the very working people that he ran a campaign to empower, that he has since then betrayed," the democratic socialist said. "And when we talk about my politics, I call myself a democrat socialist in many ways inspired by the words of [Martin Luther King Jr.] from decades ago who said, 'Call it democracy or call it democratic socialism. Zohran Mamdani, who recently won about 44% of the votes in the Democratic mayoral primary, noted how New York is devolving: "As income inequality has declined nationwide, it has increased in New York City. And ultimately, what we need, is a city where every single person can thrive," he said.

Donald Trump made it clear that he was not happy with Canada's new tax on companies like Meta and Amazon, which takes effect on Monday, June 30: "We have just been informed that Canada, a very difficult country to TRADE with, including the fact that they have charged our farmers as much as 400% Tariffs, for years, on dairy products, has just announced that they are putting a digital services tax on our American technology companies, which is a direct and blatant attack on our country," he wrote. "We will let Canada know the tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven-day period. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

After Donald Trump slammed the newly imposed tariffs, a representative for Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to the Republican leader: "The Canadian government will continue to engage in these complex negotiations with the United States in the best interests of Canadian workers and businesses," they said.

Canada is requesting a 3% tax on large tech entities with more than $800 million in annual revenue — specifically companies involved in social media services and online advertising. When the first installment is due, it will also be retroactive to sales made since the start of 2022. According to The Wall Street Journal, the first payment is estimated to be around $3 billion for the collective American firms being taxed.

A source told the New York Post that Chuck Schumer began to feel lightheaded while on a stationary bike in the Senate gym. A rep confirmed the senator was briefly hospitalized "out of an abundance of caution" but was released soon after and quickly returned to work at the Capitol.

In the afternoon, Chuck Schumer attended a press conference for airline safety, where he was accompanied by victims of the 2009 Colgan Air crash. He appeared healthy at the gathering as temperatures reached the high-90s in New York and Washington, D.C., where medical professionals recommended people prioritize staying hydrated and cool.

Chuck Schumer has braved scary health issues in the past. According to the New York Post, he had pneumonia in 2016 and tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022.

Now serving as Deputy Chair of Russia's Security Council under President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev issued a warning on X, suggesting that while Iran's nuclear sites may have been damaged, the threat isn't over.  In a 10-part breakdown, Medvedev explained how the conflict could escalate — and how Iran could still become armed with nuclear weapons: "A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads," he wrote. "The people are rallying around the country's spiritual leadership, including those who were previously indifferent or opposed to it."

Dmitry Medvedev didn't stop there: He then took direct aim at President Donald Trump, saying that the man once called "the president of peace" has now brought the U.S. into a war. "At this rate, Trump can forget about the Nobel Peace Prize — not even with how rigged it has become. What a way to kick things off, Mr. President. Congratulations!" He argued the U.S. has become "entangled in a new conflict," pointing to reports that Iran's nuclear fuel cycle sustained minimal damage.

Following the U.S. airstrikes on Saturday, June 21, President Donald Trump shared that the mission was a success. However, Dmitry Medvedev is pushing back, arguing that the damage wasn't enough to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions: "The enrichment of nuclear material — and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue," he warned. It seems Medvedev is on a mission to dispel the United States' claims of success and is alluding to other countries, potentially Russia, that have the means to supply Iran with weapons.

President Donald Trump likened the recent airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities to the U.S. dropping atomic bombs on Japan during World War II. While speaking at the NATO summit on Wednesday, June 25, Trump claimed the surprise attack on Tehran helped "end the war."

During the NATO summit in the Netherlands, President Donald Trump praised the success of the mission in Iran: "I don't want to use an example of Hiroshima. I don't want to use an example of Nagasaki, but that was essentially the same thing that ended that war," he said. Trump explained that the airstrikes triggered a ceasefire between Iran and Israel just 12 days after tensions began: "Had we not succeeded with that hit, that hit ended the war," he continued. "If we didn't take that out, they would have been, they'd be fighting right now."

While at the conference, President Donald Trump discredited a leaked intelligence report suggesting Iran could quickly restart its nuclear program. He argued that Tehran didn't have time to remove enriched uranium from its sites before the attack: "They didn't have a chance to get anything out because we acted fast. If it would have taken two weeks, maybe," he said. "But it's very hard to remove that kind of material, very hard and very dangerous for them to remove it."

President Donald Trump continued to stand by the mission, reiterating that Iran couldn't have moved the uranium in time, especially because they didn't know the U.S. was coming. He claimed that the airstrikes set Iran's nuclear ambitions back years, adding that the country won't "ever do it again." Said the former reality star, "They just went through hell. I think they've had it. The last thing they want to do is enrich."

Fox News contributor Charlie Hurt didn't hold back when reacting to the recent leak of U.S. intelligence related to the Iran strikes — calling it an act of "treason." Hurt said that if the source behind the leak is uncovered, the White House should pursue the death penalty for releasing the secret documents.

Appearing on Jesse Watters Primetime, Charlie Hurt claimed the leak was proof that the "deep state" isn't just a conspiracy theory — it's real: "If you don't believe in the deep state after this, then you have lost your mind," he said on Wednesday, June 25. "This is the definition of the deep state. A wartime leak of very sensitive confidential information — it is treason. The punishment for treason is the death penalty. This is not a joke."

Charlie Hurt, who co-hosts Fox and Friends Weekend, urged the government to go all in on finding and punishing the person responsible: "I pray that they do not back down on this, that they get to the bottom of who it is and they can find who leaked this information. It is treason," he said. He went on to condemn the CNN reporter who first broke the story, calling Natasha Bertrand "a moron"  — though he acknowledged she was doing her job as a journalist. "I get why a reporter tries to get this stuff, whatever, and she's a moron, she doesn't know what she's talking about," he said. While Hurt is calling for prosecution, he admitted the full extent of the damage remains unclear: "We don't know, it's going to take time to find out, I can't wait to find out what the damage actually was," he said.

President Donald Trump also criticized the CNN reporter, writing on Truth Social, "Natasha Bertrand should be FIRED from CNN! I watched her for three days doing Fake News. She should be IMMEDIATELY reprimanded, and then thrown out 'like a dog.'" CNN, meanwhile, has defended Bertrand's reporting, saying they "stand 100 percent behind" her work. "CNN's reporting made clear that this was an initial finding that could change with additional intelligence. We have extensively covered President Trump's own deep skepticism about it," the network said in a statement.
