In honor of this year's AMAs on Nov. 21, 2021, Wonderwall.com is looking back at the fashion from 2001. Starting with Mandy Moore, a teenaged pop star at the time, who was all smiles in a fluttery purple gown with velvet flower detailing at the 2001 AMAs show. She styled the look with voluminous hair, silver heeled sandals and pink makeup.

Can you believe it's been 20 years since this iconic photo of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears was taken?! That era's prince and princess of pop made fashion history at the 2001 American Music Awards. This iconic look was born that night: the all-denim ensembles rocked by Brit and JT. The two spared no denim expense, with the boybander even donning a matching fedora and the "I'm a Slave 4 U" singer carrying a jean purse. They couldn't have looked more, er, in sync.
Nominee and performer Pink was the picture of edginess in 2001 with her signature short pink hair, shiny graffiti-covered overalls and black bralette.

Country music queen Faith Hill was the big winner at the 2001 AMAs with four nominations and three victories. She headed into the award show in a white button-down blouse paired with heavily embellished camel-colored pants with a silver belly dancer belt.
Daryl Hannah's AMAs outfit had all the ingredients of "rocker chic" — a one-shouldered graphic tee, a leather skirt, boots, countless bracelets and a pink streak in her hair — but the look fell flat on the then-40-year-old actress.
