Donald Trump is continuing his plans to strengthen U.S. border protection, as the president's administration will deploy 1,115 additional service members to the U.S.-Mexico boundary.

According to the U.S. Northern Command, service members will support the organization to provide "enhanced sustainment, engineering, medical, and operational capabilities as part of the Department of Defense's continued whole-of-government approach to gain full operational control of the southern border."

Almost half of the military personnel deployed to the border are associated with engineering companies, battalions and brigades and will be responsible for carrying out construction-related tasks. 

Aside from using the military, Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," which was approved by the House of Representatives on Thursday, May 22, set aside $175 billion for border security, with $46.5 billion of that budget allocated for building a new wall at the border.

Since Donald Trump began his second presidential term, there has been a reported 93% decrease in people illegally crossing the Mexican-American border.

In April, federal agents noticed fewer than 10,000 migrants tried to cross the southern border.

During the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump took a strong stance against illegal immigration. The president has since implemented controversial deportation policies.

After his second inauguration, Trump declared that the military must "defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of the U.S.

Federal Judge Blocks Trump's Latest Harvard Attack

Another federal judge is keeping the guardrails on Donald Trump and his administration.

On Thursday, May 22, the current president and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the cancellation of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) at Harvard, forcing international students to return to their home countries. However, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White in California issued a nationwide injunction halting the action.

In blocking Donald Trump's action against Harvard and its students, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White prohibited the administration from arresting or detaining any foreign-born students on the basis of their immigration status.

In his decision, the legal authority emphasized how the action "wreaked havoc" on the lives of students from other countries.

In a Thursday, May 22, statement, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Donald Trump and his administration were making the bold move in response to Harvard's lack of action toward antisemitism on campus.

"This administration is holding Harvard accountable for fostering violence, antisemitism and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus," she alleged. "It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments."

"Harvard had plenty of opportunity to do the right thing. It refused," the former governor of South Dakota continued. "Let this serve as a warning to all universities and academic institutions across the country."

Harvard fired back at Kristi Noem, Donald Trump and the extreme action from the Republican administration to kick international students off campus.

"We are fully committed to maintaining Harvard's ability to host our international students and scholars, who hail from more than 140 countries and enrich the University — and this nation — immeasurably," a spokesperson for the college said in a statement. "We are working quickly to provide guidance and support to members of our community. This retaliatory action threatens serious harm to the Harvard community and our country and undermines Harvard's academic and research mission."

On Friday, May 23, Harvard sued the Trump administration over the matter.

In April, Kristi Noem and Donald Trump threatened Harvard by claiming they would take away federal funding and revoke student visas if they did not comply with their rules about protestors on campus.

"If Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students," a Wednesday, April 16, letter from the administration to the school warned. "Harvard bending the knee to antisemitism — driven by its spineless leadership — fuels a cesspool of extremist riots and threatens our national security. With anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology poisoning its campus and classrooms, Harvard's position as a top institution of higher learning is a distant memory. America demands more from universities entrusted with taxpayer dollars."

Democratic campaign strategist James Carville recently advised Arizona's Democratic Party chairman, Robert Branscomb, to "shut up" and create a new progressive party if he doesn't like what the Democrats are doing.

According to The New York Times, Robert Branscomb had been "clashing with staff members over personnel decisions and accused them of sabotaging him by withholding financial documents."

The outlet also reported that Branscomb "wrote to party members detailing the infighting and attacking Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, both Democrats, for criticizing one of his staffing choices."

In a video posted to Politicon's YouTube on Thursday, May 22, James Carville applauded Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego for pushing back against Robert Branscomb.

"You ain't been elected to s***. So why don't you shut up?" Carvile said after reading the report in The New York Times.

Arizona has a history of being a Republican state, and Carville hinted at Branscomb's ideologies being a threat to the Democratic Party's progress in the state.

"That's the problem with this, these people from the 'progressive' whatever the f*** that is, that come into these state parties that didn't do anything that have outstanding Democratic elected officials," Carville said. "He's fighting with the governor. We finally have a Democratic governor, and this guy exemplifies to me what's wrong with that wing of the party."

Robert Branscomb reportedly declared, "I will not be coerced, and I will not be silenced."

James Carville was seemingly annoyed by Branscomb's attitude.

"Well why don't you just shut up anyway? Because you haven't gotten elected to anything. And why don't you pay attention and work for the people that are out there who are not just trying to win elections but are actually winning elections?" Carville said.

"You got one goal, dude, that's to win elections, not run your j****** mouth, which is all this guy Branscomb is good for," he added.

He then suggested that progressives should consider leaving the Democratic Party: "They need to really consider whether they're Democrats or not," he said. "Maybe they ought to go join the pronoun justice – social, I don't know, equity party or whatever they're doing. … When you don't respect people who go out and win elections and work and put their names out front and dare to lose then there's no use for you in Democratic politics. That's my view."

James Carville depicted Robert Branscombe's grievances as a larger issue within the party.

According to the television personality, in Nevada, Democrats had "one of the most successful state parties in the history of the United States," but a majority women state legislature took over and turned it "into a useless glob of nothing."

James Carville suggested Democrats need to address the rising progressive sector within the party.

Frank Bisignano, who previously had a successful career in finance, reportedly raised eyebrows while discussing his role with staffers.

"So, I get a phone call and it's about Social Security. And I'm really, I'm really not, I swear I'm not looking for a job," Bisignano said, according to a May 22 ABC News report. "And I'm like, 'Well, what am I going to do?' So, I'm Googling Social Security. You know, one of my great skills, I'm one of the great Googlers on the East Coast."

ABC News reported Frank Bisignano has beeen disappointed by media leaks within the agency.

"I'm like, 'What the heck's the commissioner of Social Security?'" Bisignano, who is now running the federal agency that millions of Americans depend upon, told his team.

"Put that as the headline for the Post: 'Great Googler in Chief. Chief in Googler or whatever,'" Bisignano added.

A Social Security official informed ABC News that Frank Bisignano is "working to transform the agency into a premier service organization."

"He is visiting offices and meeting employees to hear their ideas for how the agency can better serve customers in-person, on the telephone, and online," the official said. "As the Commissioner evaluates the agency, he has been clear that SSA will have the right staffing to deliver Americans their hard-earned benefits."

When Donald Trump became president, critics worried about him dismantling Social Security Services, but Frank Bisignano is hoping to strengthen the system.

"Clearly, Commissioner Bisignano was poking fun at himself so that everyone in the room felt comfortable having an open conversation about improving service for the American people," the official stated.

White House spokesperson Liz Huston hinted at Frank Bisignano being picked for his role due to his successful career in finance.

"Commissioner Bisignano brings a valuable and much-needed outside perspective to the Social Security Administration," Houston told ABC News. "Commissioner Bisignano's proven success in the financial services industry uniquely positions him to lead the Trump Administration's commonsense efforts to modernize the agency and improve its efficiency."

Frank Bisignano told managers in the meeting that Social Security is "not going away" and that Donald Trump agrees with protecting the federal agency.

"This is America's, you know, safety net — it's not going away. And hopefully you hear me say this every day," he said. "You know who wants me to tell people that? Guess. The president."

Trump Blocked by Federal Judge

One legal authority is shutting down Donald Trump's plan to dismantle the Department of Education.

On Thursday, May 22, Boston U.S. District Judge Myong Joun of Massachusetts ordered that the president and his administration must rehire the workers laid off after Trump signed an executive order to gut the government entity to reduce costs.

In Judge Myong Joun's opinion, he made it clear that Donald Trump's effort eliminate the Department of Education was unlawful without the consent of Congress.

"It is only reasonable to expect that an RIF [reduction in force] of this magnitude will likely cripple the Department. The idea that Defendants' actions are merely a 'reorganization' is plainly not true," the legal document reads.

"Defendants do acknowledge, as they must, that the Department cannot be shut down without Congress's approval, yet they simultaneously claim that their legislative goals are distinct from their administrative goals (improving efficiency)," Joun explains. "There is nothing in the record to support these contradictory positions."

In response to Judge Myong Joun's ruling, the Department of Education claimed Donald Trump and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon were justified in firing the federal employees.

"President Trump and the Senate-confirmed Secretary of Education clearly have the authority to make decisions about agency reorganization efforts, not an unelected Judge with a political axe to grind," spokeswoman for the government entity Madi Biedermann claimed in a statement. "This ruling is not in the best interest of American students or families. We will immediately challenge this on an emergency basis."

Earlier this year, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and Donald Trump allegedly dismissed 1,300 employees to wind down and eventually end the Department of Education.

"That was the president's mandate," she confirmed during a March interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham about the commander-in-chief's executive order. "His directive to me clearly is to shut down the Department of Education. What we did today was to take the first step of eliminating what I think is bureaucratic bloat."

After Donald Trump signed off on the action, Democrats publicly spoke out against the end of the government program.

"The Department of Education (ED) appears to be abandoning the millions of parents, students and borrowers who rely on a functioning federal student aid system to lower education cost," Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts wrote in a letter opposing the move.

Supreme Court Split on Charter School

On Thursday, May 22, the highest court in the United States became deadlocked when voting on whether or not Oklahoma could provide money to a religiously based education establishment without violating the separation of church and state.

Due to her 15 years teaching at the University of Notre Dame's law school, Justice Amy Coney Barrett excused herself from the vote. The college is also representing one of the parties in the case: St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School.

With the 4-4 split, the Supreme Court did not issue a written decision acknowledging how each judge voted on whether or not taxpayers should be funding the religious school.

Now, previous court rulings that allowed taxpayer-funded voucher money to go to religious education establishments — but blocked public schools and charter schools from teaching religion — will continue to stand.

The controversial case stems from the five-member Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board approving St. Isidore's operation application in a 3–2 vote in June 2023.

In response, State Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a lawsuit against the board, claiming the decision would "open the floodgates and force taxpayers to fund all manner of religious indoctrination, including radical Islam or even the Church of Satan."

The suit puts into question the First Amendment's Free Exercise Clause, forbidding religious discrimination and the Constitution's Establishment Clause, which restricts the government from helping one religion over another.

The Supreme Court held oral arguments on the case in April. Conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh stated during the hearing, "All the religious school is saying is, 'Don't exclude us on account of our religion.'"

"Our cases have made very clear — I think those are some of the most important cases we've had — of saying you can't treat religious people and religious institutions and religious speech as second-class," he added.

Chief Justice John Roberts questioned, "What do you do with Fulton [v. City of Philadelphia] — the state agency that refused to deal with the religious adoption services. We held they couldn't engage in that discrimination. How is that different from what we have here?"

Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor lamented how students at St. Isidore's would "have to accept the teachings of the church with respect to certain principles."

More left-leaning Justice Ketanji Brown added that "it's not being denied a benefit that everyone else gets" if the school was denied its charter school application.

"It's being denied a benefit that no one else gets, which is the ability to establish a religious public school," she claimed.

"With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma," Savannah Guthrie announced on the Friday, May 22, episode of the morning show. "There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle's perfect partner in life."

The duo married in 2007 and share three children: older son Kayin and a pair of twins — son Uche and daughter Clara.

Liam Neeson

After almost 15 years of marriage, Liam Neeson became a widower when his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, died on March 18, 2009, after sustaining a head injury in a ski accident in Canada. The mother of two was 45 when she died. "That's the weird thing about grief. You can't prepare for it. You think you're gonna cry and get it over with. You make those plans, but they never work," Neeson told Esquire in 2011. "It hits you in the middle of the night — well, it hits me in the middle of the night. I'm out walking. I'm feeling quite content. And it's like suddenly, boom. It's like you've just done that in your chest."
More than a decade later, he's still in mourning: "[He] will be haunted for life by what happened," a source close to the Oscar-nominated actor exclusively told RadarOnline.com on the 16th anniversary of Richardson's death in 2025. The insider added that the actor from Northern Ireland "has always been of the opinion work is the only thing that will save him from spiraling into a pit of absolute despair over Natasha's death." Though he's dated here and there over the years, "his dating life has never really gone anywhere" since his late wife died because "she was his true love," the source noted, adding that Neeson remains surrounded by a "cloud" of sorrow all these years later. "We fear that his continuing sadness over the loss will reunite him with Natasha by sending him to an early grave," the insider concluded.

After The Beatles broke up, Paul McCartney went on to record music solo and with his wife, Linda McCartney, and their band, Wings. On April 17, 1998 — after almost 30 years of marriage — the photographer and animal rights activist passed away at 56.
"Both my mum and Linda died of breast cancer. We had no idea what my mum had died of because no-one talked about it. She just died," Paul later told the BBC. "The worst thing about that was everyone was very stoic, everyone kept a stiff upper lip and then one evening you'd hear my dad crying in the next room. It was tragic because we'd never heard him cry. It was a quiet private kind of grief." As Paul mourned Linda, he "cried for about a year, on and off," he said. "You expect to see them walk in, this person you love, because you are so used to them. I cried a lot. It was almost embarrassing except it seemed the only thing to do."
Paul was later married to Heather Mills for four years and has been wed to current wife Nancy Shevell since 2011.

After being diagnosed in 2015, she underwent chemotherapy and went into remission, but her cancer returned in 2017. "The pain was the hardest thing," the "Reservoir Dogs" and "The Big Lebowski" actor later told GQ. "People who are going through that, it's painful. It's painful to die from cancer. There's just no way around it."
Jo's death led the widower to think about his own. "If I should happen to go not suddenly, I hope I could be as present as Jo was," he said. "She led the way. She was surrounded by friends and family. She really faced it. I really don't think she was afraid of dying. I think it was just a whole series of 'Oh, I don't get to do this anymore.'"

Kellie Pickler — the country music singer who came to fame on season 5 of "American Idol" in 2006 — lost her husband of 12 years, country music songwriter and producer Kyle Jacobs, to suicide on Feb. 17, 2023. Kyle, who penned tunes for everyone from Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and his wife to Kelly Clarkson, Wynonna Judd and Trace Adkins, was 49.
Six months after Kyle's death, Kellie broke her silence in a statement to People magazine, telling fans, "One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don't know what to do, 'do nothing, just be still.' I have chosen to heed his advice."

"I was so worried about letting go of hope, because I didn't want Jay to spend whatever time he had left just waiting to die," Katie told People magazine in 2021. "I think it takes extraordinary courage to be able to face death, and I think I was too scared, honestly."
The journalist has moved on, marrying John Molner in 2014, but lives with the lessons of being a widow. "I understand the fragility of life in a way that will always be with me," she says. "It also makes me realize the futility of being mad at somebody, of petty arguments. I always think about what David Cassidy said on his deathbed: 'So much wasted time.'" John Travolta lost his wife of 28 years, actress Kelly Preston, on July 12, 2020, following a two-year battle with breast cancer that was not publicly revealed until she passed away. "I said [to my son], 'Ben, you have always loved the truth, and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they are going to go or when they are going to stay," John said on Kevin Hart's talk show, revealing how he spoke to the youngest of his three children about death. "Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who's to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can. So let's look at it like it's part of life. You don't know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can."

Dancer, fitness instructor and "The Talk" co-host Amanda Kloots lost her husband, Tony-nominated Broadway actor Nick Cordero, on July 5, 2020, after a 95-day battle with COVID-19 and ensuing complications. The couple were married for just short of three years when Nick passed away. "I miss having someone to come home to, and I miss laughing with somebody," Amanda — who's now a single mom raising their son, Elvis, who was born in 2019 — told CBS News in 2022, sharing that she hopes to find love again. "I wanna have another person in my life. I want Elvis to have a father figure in his life. You know, you're not taking the place of Nick. It's not ever that. It's just that Nick was a part of my life."

"The Dukes of Hazzard" star John Schneider lost wife Alicia Allain at 53 on Feb. 21, 2023. "My beautiful Smile is pain free, living in her new body alongside Jesus," the "Smallville" actor — who married the actress-producer, who was also his indie filmmaking partner, "before God" in 2019 (they reportedly made their union legal later that year after his long divorce from his second wife was finalized) — wrote on Facebook alongside photos of Alicia, who had battled breast cancer in recent years, and their wedding rings. "Please respect our privacy during this time of grief. Please do not ask any questions." He also asked his followers to share "any pictures of us and our obvious love and adoration for each other" in the comments section of his post. "Lastly," he added, "hug those you love tight and let them know how you feel. We always did."
In the days that followed, John continued to post amid his grief, captioning photos of himself kissing his late wife, "I simply have no words but… I miss you desperately Mrs. Schneider" and "For me, this is what love looks like." He also shared another pic of himself holding Alicia, writing, "This is a time of unimaginable sorrow for me. Grief is much too small a word. I've heard it said that 'with great love comes great sorrow.' I had no idea what that meant until now."

Punk music legend John Lydon's wife of 44 years, Nora Forster, died at 80 on April 6, 2023, after living with Alzheimer's since 2018. The former Sex Pistols singer's band, Public Image Ltd., announced the heartbreaking news in a statement that same day: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster — John Lydon's wife of nearly 5 decades — has passed away. Nora had been living with Alzheimer's for several years. In which time John had become her full time carer."
A few months before Nora's death, John — aka Johnny Rotten — reflected on Nora's Alzheimer's diagnosis in an interview with London's Sunday Times: "All the things I thought were the ultimate agony seem preposterous now," he said of his love, a German publishing heiress, actress and model who was a well-known music promoter. "It's shaped me into what I am. I don't think I'll ever get over it. I don't see how I can live without her. I wouldn't want to. There's no point."

Five-time Emmy winner Stanley Tucci lost his first wife, social worker Kate Spath, with whom he had three children, to breast cancer at 47 on April 27, 2009, just days after they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. The "Prizzi's Honor" actor later opened up about how her death turned his life "completely upside down" and how "sad" and "difficult" it was to eventually leave the home where Kate died, he said on Justin Long's "Life is Short" podcast. 
Though the "Searching for Italy" host eventually moved on, marrying British literary agent Felicity Blunt — the sister of his "The Devil Wears Prada" co-star Emily Blunt — in 2012, "You never stop grieving," he told "CBS Sunday Morning" in 2021. "And it's still hard after [all these] years … and it always will be hard. But you can't let it, and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn't like that."

Comedian Patton Oswalt's first wife, true crime author Michelle McNamara, died in her sleep at 46 on April 21, 2016. The "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" writer's death was later attributed to an undiagnosed heart condition combined with the "effects of multiple drugs" including Adderall, Xanax and fentanyl, the coroner confirmed. "Of course I thought of her today," Patton posted on Instagram on the fifth anniversary of her death. "And I also thought of [our daughter] Alice, and how the loss shaped her and continues to shape her. And how Meredith [Salenger, whom I married in 2017] swooped into our lonely, broken lives and helped put the pieces back together, stronger and sleeker than they were before. When the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, died from a stingray attack on Sept. 4, 2006, he left behind wife Terri Irwin and their two kids, Bindi Irwin and Robert Irwin.

"I keep saying this, and I think maybe 15 years later people are finally starting to believe me, Steve was it for me," Terri — who runs the Australia Zoo with her kids — told QWeekend in 2021. "That's just the way it is. I had a big, big love and it was enough to last a lifetime."

Rick Moranis became a widower when his wife of about five years, makeup artist Ann Belsky, died of breast cancer on Feb. 4, 1991 — one day before her 35th birthday. The "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and "Ghostbusters" actor subsequently took a 24-year hiatus from Hollywood after her death to focus on raising their twins.

Beth Chapman, who starred alongside husband Duane "Dog" Chapman on the hit A&E show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and its spinoffs for years, died at a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 26, 2019, from complications of cancer. Beth, who was 51 when she died, was diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer in September 2017 and went into remission, but by late 2018, the disease had returned and spread. Beth was Duane's fifth wife. She had two children with Duane, with whom she'd been involved for 15 years before they finally married in 2006.
"I loved her so much," a grieving Duane told Hawaii News Now, sharing that Beth left little notes around the house — including in pillowcases, on the sink and in his shaving kit — for him to find in their home after she died. "I'm gonna see my honey again. That's all we can do is hope."
In 2021, he married rancher Francie Frane, a widow who'd also lost her spouse to cancer. "With Francie, I'm allowed to speak about Beth, we speak about her husband. We cry. We hold each other," Duane told TMZ.
Four years after Beth passed away, Dog revealed an unexpected blessing: He'd recently learned that decades earlier, he fathered a son who was born on the same day Beth died: June 26. "For the last four years, this day was a terrible reminder of one of the greatest losses of my life," Dog, a father of 13 with multiple women, wrote on Instagram in 2023. "But God redeemed this day when I discovered my son Jon, who I just met recently, was born on this day. So now instead of sorrow, this day has a new meaning."

Soap opera icon Susan Lucci lost her husband of 52 years, Helmut Huber, on March 28, 2022. He was 84. Nearly a year later, the "All My Children" actress opened up about her grief, telling "Good Day New York" that the Austrian TV producer had been a "very special big presence" and "very take-charge in a good way" as well as "caring, a caregiver, funny [and] smart. … not to mention very handsome and [he had a] cute accent." When asked if she felt ready to date again, Susan made it clear she was not. "Everybody's different, and I just miss him and he's worth missing," she said. "He was really, really the love of my life."

President Joe Biden knows pain. He tragically lost his first wife, Neilia, and their 1-year-old daughter, Naomi, in a car accident while they were out Christmas shopping on Dec. 18, 1972 — just weeks after he was elected to the U.S. Senate for the first time. Their sons, Hunter Biden and Beau Biden, survived the crash with minor injuries; Beau died from a brain tumor in 2015. In 1977, Joe married Jill Biden, with whom he had a daughter, Ashley.

Actor Damian Lewis lost his wife of 13 years, "Harry Potter" and "Peaky Blinders" star Helen McCrory in April 2021 after a private breast cancer battle. She was 52. "She has been utterly heroic in her illness. Funny, of course — generous, brave, uncomplaining, constantly reminding us all of how lucky we've been, how blessed we are. Her generosity has extended to encouraging us three to live. Live fully, take opportunities, have adventures," Damian wrote in The Sunday Times of his late love, with whom he shares two children. "She has shone more brightly in the last months than you would imagine even the brightest star could shine. In life, too, we had to rise to meet her. But her greatest and most exquisite act of bravery and generosity has been to 'normalize' her death. She's shown no fear, no bitterness, no self-pity, only armed us with the courage to go on and insisted that no one be sad, because she is happy." He added, "I'm staggered by her. She's been a meteor in our life."

On Dec. 8, 1980 — 11 years after they were married — Yoko Ono became a widow when John Lennon was shot and killed by a crazed fan of his band, The Beatles. John was Yoko's third husband; she never remarried. She has worked to continue his legacy, funding the Strawberry Fields memorial in Manhattan's Central Park, the Imagine Peace Tower in Iceland and the since-closed John Lennon Museum in Japan. Celine Dion's husband and manager, René Angélil, passed away in Las Vegas on Jan. 14, 2016, following a prolonged battle with throat cancer. He was 73. "Losing my husband, for my [three] kids to lose their father, it was quite something," the music star — René's wife of 21 years — told the "Today" show in 2021. "I feel like René has given me so much through the years and still today. I see my kids. I look at them — we live with him. We still live with him. He's part of our lives every day." Celine is still not ready to move on. "I'm not thinking about a relationship and falling in love again. I don't," she said. "Do I have to say that it will never happen anymore? I don't know. I don't know."

Ginnie Newhart — the wife of comedy legend Bob Newhart — died at 82 on April 23, 2023, following a long illness. Bob took to Twitter to mourn his wife of more than 60 years, writing, "She was our rock and we miss her terribly." The actor died at 94 on July 18, 2024.

After 73 years of marriage, Queen Elizabeth II became a widow when her husband, Prince Philip, died at 99 in April 2021. She herself passed away just 17 months later. She was 96.

Vanessa Bryant became a widow on Jan. 26, 2020, when retired NBA star husband Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash on their way to a basketball game just north of Los Angeles. "This pain is unimaginable [but] you just have to get up and push forward," Vanessa told People magazine in 2021. "Lying in bed crying isn't going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my [three other] girls and for me. So that's what I do."
Vanessa got her start as a video vixen appearing in music video's for Snoop Dogg and other rappers — which is how she met Kobe in 1999 when he was 21 and she was 17 and still in high school.

In September 2023, the first season of "The Golden Bachelor" — a "The Bachelor" spinoff starring 72-year-old widower Gerry Turner, a retired restaurateur, father and grandfather from Indiana — debuted on ABC. The series chronicled the senior citizen's search for love, with 22 women between 60 and 75 vying for his heart — and a few months later, he proposed to the winner, Theresa Nist, 70. The couple married during ABC's "The Golden Wedding" special, which aired on Jan. 4, 2023 — then three months later announced plans to divorce amid issues with where to live and how to remain close to their respective families.
Gerry married his high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1974. They lived a happy and full life, welcoming daughters Angie and Jenny and, later, granddaughters Charlee and Payton. But in 2017 after 43 years together — just six weeks after Toni retired — she suddenly fell ill and died, leaving Gerry a widower. "She got robbed, every day that goes by, that's the thought that I have," Gerry told "Good Morning America."
His daughters encouraged him to sign on for "The Golden Bachelor," but Gerry wasn't sure if he should do it. He told "GMA" he has a framed photo of his late wife on the dresser in his closet and "every morning I [would] give her the nod [and ask], 'So what do you think about this?'" he said. "For a while it was like, I was having a hard time figuring out if she would be OK [with it]. But we always told each other when one of us goes, we want the other one to be happy. She's up there rooting, she's saying, 'Yeah, Gerry, do this.'"

Iran Shuts Down Trump's Nuclear Deal Hopes

Donald Trump thinks nuclear talks with Iran are going great — but the country's leaders seem to have a different take.

During a press briefing on Thursday, May 22, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that the president feels optimistic about the negotiations. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later clarified that his country will not budge on a deal with the United States.

Ahead of the Friday, May 23, talks in Rome, Karoline Leavitt expressed how Donald Trump thought the negotiations with Iran were "moving along in the right direction."

"As the president told me and he's told all of you, this deal with Iran could end in two ways: It could end in a very positive diplomatic solution or it could end in a very negative situation for Iran. So that's why these talks are taking place," the media liaison explained.

The Republican leader also discussed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "potential deal with Iran."

"The president has made it very clear to not just Prime Minister Netanyahu but also the world that he wants to see a deal with Iran struck if one can be struck," Leavitt said. "He does not want to have to take the latter option, the more severe and negative option. He wants to see a deal. The president is a dealmaker and believes strongly in diplomacy, and he made that clear to the Prime Minister but also to all of you and frankly, the rest of the world."

Despite Donald Trump's optimism, sources claimed to CNN that the negotiations seem unlikely to end in an agreement.

According to insiders, the problem stems from the United States' requirement that Tehran dismantles its uranium enrichment program.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to X to share insight into what Iran needed to get a deal done with America: "Figuring out the path to a deal is not rocket science," he wrote. "Zero nuclear weapons = we DO have a deal. Zero enrichment = we do NOT have a deal."

Donald Trump's Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff will host the discussion with an Iranian delegation on Friday, May 23. Top State Department official Michael Anton will also be present for the negotiations.

"We have one very, very clear red line, and that is enrichment. We cannot allow even 1% of an enrichment capability," Witkoff emphasized during an interview that aired on ABC's This Week.

During a Tuesday, May 20, appearance on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, the former FBI director slammed the current chief of the department, Kash Patel, after reports surfaced Donald Trump's staffer was skipping essential briefings.

When the show's guest host, John Berman, asked James Comey about the allegations that Kash Patel isn't adequately performing the duties of FBI director, the lawyer did not hold back exactly how he felt about the new incumbent.

"I'm not the least bit concerned about that, given that nothing in his life will have prepared him to be FBI director," Comey remarked about Patel. "I'm fine if he is out doing other things and letting the career people make the decisions about operations, about priorities that would be better for everybody."

"Do you think the career people are making the decisions behind the scenes?" Berman questioned.

"It's hard for me to say. I mean, I'm sure they are because they know what they're doing," the former republican added. "So, if you're going to go from being an outsider who knows nothing about the institution to the inside, you're going to have to rely on the career people."

John Berman also pressed James Comey about the allegation that Kash Patel and Donald Trump's administration deported migrants to South Sudan against a federal judge's order. "What do you see here? Do you see prosecutors willing to push the envelope more?" the host asked.

"I can't tell. There's certainly a lot of aggressive rhetoric in that way, but it is suicidal from a career perspective, for a lawyer for the United States Department of Justice to violate — knowingly violate a court order," Comey explained. "There will be consequences that will be life changing for that lawyer. So, I don't know whether we've moved from a lot of aggressive talk, which is characteristic of the Trump world to lawyers actually making that life changing decision."

Per numerous sources close to Donald Trump's White House, members of the FBI have been perplexed by how often Kash Patel has been skipping out on their daily "director's brief" meetings or showing up way past their start time.

"Officials who worked on the morning director's briefings were told that the schedule was changed because Patel sometimes failed to arrive on time," Ken Dilanian of NBC News claimed.

While Kash Patel may be putting the Washington, D.C., rumor mill into overdrive with his job performance, he recently blamed former FBI leaders like James Comey for conducting the agency with political bias that he claims he and Donald Trump have to fix.  

"You're about to see a wave of transparency," Patel explained during a Sunday, May 18, appearance on Maria Bartiromo's Fox News show.

"You asked in the beginning how the FBI was weaponized," he said. "Well, the FBI hijacked the constitutional responsibility of the Department of Justice and the Attorney General and James Comey and others specifically decided what cases to prosecute and not prosecute. In a passage obtained by RadarOnline.com, Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson cite a 2023 interview Joe Biden did with Justice Department special counsel Robert Hur, where his declining mental state is evident as he failed to recall how long he was Barack Obama's vice president.

"Biden's recorded conversations from that time were described as 'often painfully slow, with Mr. Biden struggling to remember events and straining at times to read and relay his own notebook entries,'" the tell-all claims. "Flash forward to the fall of 2023, when Biden had his interviews with the special counsel's office. Summing up their impressions, Hur concluded: 'Biden's memory was worse.'"

"Biden seemed to have difficulty grasping the fact that his vice presidency lasted from January 2009 until January 2017," they alleged. "Once, trying to understand a point in time in 2013, he asked, 'Well, if it was 2013 — when did I stop being vice president?'"

"'2017,' a White House lawyer reminded him," the journalists continued. "'So, I was vice president,' he said. 'So, it must've come from vice president stuff. That's all I can think of.'"

In another troubling instance of Joe Biden's conversation with Robert Hur, the Democrat could not remember when his son Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer in 2015.

In obtained audio of the interview, Joe questioned, "What was happening though was…What month did Beau die?"

"Oh God, May 30," a White House attorney present for the discussion chimed in.

"Am I making any sense to you?" the former senator from Delaware asked the people present in the room.

When Robert Hur's report was made public, special counsel to Joe Biden Richard Sauber and his personal counsel Bob Bauer slammed any speculation the president's mental health was in decline.

"We do not believe that the report's treatment of President Biden's memory is accurate or appropriate," Sauber and Bauer said in a statement. "The report uses highly prejudicial language to describe a commonplace occurrence among witnesses: a lack of recall of years-old events."

A representative for the Biden administration even called the review "politically motivated."

On Sunday, May 18, Joe Biden and his camp revealed he'd been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer.

"Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone," their statement read.

Donald Trump exploded after NBC News' Peter Alexander questioned his decision to accept a $400 million luxury plane from Qatar's royal family.

"Why are you talking about that? What are you asking that for? You know, you oughta get out of here," Trump yelled at the journalist.

"What does this have to do with the Qatar jet?" Trump continued, referencing the meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who was seated beside him. "They're giving the United States Air Force a jet. Okay? And it's a great thing."

Donald Trump later attacked Peter Alexander's credibility.

"We're talking about a lot of other things. Is NBC trying to get off the subject of what you just saw?" he asked.

"You are a real — you know, you're a terrible reporter," the president continued. "Number one, you don't have what it takes to be a reporter. You're not smart enough."

Donald Trump stopped Peter Alexander from asking follow-up questions about the alleged "genocide" in South Africa, calling the reporter "a disgrace."

Despite the scrutiny, Peter Alexander was committed to questioning Donald Trump's claims.

"If they're committing genocide, why invite [Ramaphosa] to the White House?" Alexander asked, as South African President Cyril Ramaphosa sat beside Trump.

"Quiet, quiet," the commander-in-chief angrily replied.

Donald Trump later accused the media of ignoring the "genocide" occurring in South Africa, even though a judge from the country called the claim "clearly imagined" and "not real."

"If the news wasn't fake, like NBC, which is fake news … if they weren't fake news like this jerk that we have here," the real estate tycoon said while pointing to Peter Alexander. "If we had real reporters, they'd be covering it."

According to Donald Trump, white farmers in South Africa are being targeted. However, the BBC reported there were 26,232 murders in the country last year, and of that group, only eight were farmers.

The outlet also reported that the data doesn't specify race.

"There are all white farmers being buried and he asks about a jet that was given. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. You are so bad, you're such a bad reporter," Trump told Peter Alexander.

"'So why did they give us a plane to the United States Air Force?'" Trump continued, mocking Peter Alexander. "That's what that idiot talks about after viewing a thing where thousands of people are dead."

Following the spat with Peter Alexander, Cyril Ramaphosa joked about Donald Trump's luxury jet: "I'm sorry I don't have a plane to give you," the South African president said.

"I wish you did," Trump replied. "If your country offered the United States Air Force a plane, I would take it."

Trump Violated Another Court Order, Judge Rules

A court is shutting down one of Donald Trump's bold political moves again.

During an emergency hearing on Wednesday, May 21, U.S. District Judge with the Court of Massachusetts Brian Murphy ruled that the Department of Homeland Security "unquestionably" violated legal authority by sending a group of illegal immigrants to South Sudan.

During the hearing, Judge Brian Murphy claimed Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security did not give migrants enough time between their notice of deportation and removal for a chance to contest the decision.

"It was impossible for these people to have a meaningful opportunity to object to their transfer to South Sudan," the legal authority explained in court. "The Department's actions in this case are unquestionably violative of this court's order."

According to reports, the illegal immigrants were alerted of their deportation on Monday evening and were placed on a plane heading to South Sudan on Tuesday morning. Although the flight did land in the region, the people onboard were allegedly kept on the aircraft in ICE custody.

Per insiders, the notice the migrants received of their eviction from the United States was only given to them in English, even though the people in question do not understand the language.

Judge Brian Murphy previously issued a ruling stopping Donald Trump and his administration from deporting migrants without due process.

Despite ordering the emergency hearing over the group sent to South Sudan, Murphy has not yet made a decision on whether to order the return of all or some of the deportees.

During the hearing, the judge made clear he "intends to amend his previous ruling to give a more specific time frame before people can be sent to third countries."

This is far from the only legal hurdle Donald Trump has faced in the past week. On Friday, May 16, the Supreme Court ruled the right-wing leader could not use the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act to send a group of alleged Venezuelan gang members out of the United States until a lower court ruled on the matter.

"The Government has represented elsewhere that it is unable to provide for the return of an individual deported in error to a prison in El Salvador where it is alleged that detainees face indefinite detention," the Supreme Court said in their ruling. "The [Texas] detainees' interests at stake are accordingly particularly weighty. Under these circumstances, notice roughly 24 hours before removal, devoid of information about how to exercise due process rights to contest that removal, surely does not pass muster."

In typical fashion, Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to rail against the Supreme Court ruling.

"The Supreme Court has just ruled that the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members and even those who are mentally insane, who came into our country illegally, are not allowed to be forced out without going through a long, protracted and expensive legal process, one that will take, possibly, many years for each person and one that will allow these people to commit many crimes before they even see the inside of a Courthouse," he wrote on Friday, May 16.

Fox News' Peter Doocy compared Donald Trump's time with Cyril Ramaphosa to his explosive meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"I didn't even know that you could dim the lights in the Oval Office, which is decades old. Seems like a place that would just have an on or off switch, but President Trump called for the lights to be dimmed so that he could show this multimedia presentation to basically call the visiting South African president's bluff," Doocy said.

Cyril Ramaphosa met with Donald Trump to refute the former reality star's "white genocide" claims, but Peter Doocy implied he was unsuccessful in that goal.

"The South African president came here to say there is no genocide happening in South Africa. President Trump basically said, 'Okay, well, then what's all of this?' And he showed political leaders and opposition leaders in South Africa saying some very heinous and violent things for several minutes," Doocy said.

"And he just made the South African president and the rest of the South African delegation sit there in the half-dark room and watch it," he continued. "And afterwards, President Trump did want to talk a little bit about trade and his visiting famous golfer friends from South Africa got to speak as well."

A South African judge previously called the genocide assertion "clearly imagined" and "not real," but Donald Trump continues to assert that Afrikaners are being systemically oppressed.

"He said he has not made up his mind, despite the presentation that he had his staff cut and put forward, he's not made his mind yet about whether or not there's genocide happening," Peter Doocy recalled.

"That is something the South African team strenuously denies, and it's worth pointing out that is definitely the most awkward Oval Office meeting since [Volodymyr] Zelensky was here," he continued, referencing the time Trump asked Ukraine's president to leave the White House after their meeting turned sour.

Cyril Ramaphosa seemed largely unfazed by Donald Trump's claims, and he did not appear to cut short his time in Washington, D.C., in response to the former reality star's rhetoric.

Peter Doocy pointed out that it seemed Trump's meeting with Ramaphosa "ended a little bit better" than his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky because "the South African delegation is not leaving early."

"They will be sticking around for lunch," Doocy noted.

"But really when you watch that, it seems like the Trump foreign policy doctrine is a lot like the old slogan for the MTV show The Real World: 'Where people stop being polite and start getting real,'" he said. "And that's what we just saw from President Trump."

Rebeccah Heinrichs discussed Donald Trump's approach to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on Fox News on May 19.

Fox News host Trace Gallagher asked Heinrichs if she was "optimistic" that the president had a "good talk" with Vladimir Putin.

"No, Trace. Actually, I was pretty deflated after I heard the president's remarks because I was really hopeful that President Trump would impose costs on Putin in order to compel him to finally agree to an unconditional ceasefire, which Ukraine has agreed to — agreed to weeks ago," Heinrichs replied.

During the contentious meeting, Cyril Ramaphosa tried to impose on Donald Trump that it isn't only white farmers who are being killed.

"There is criminality in our country," Ramaphosa explained in the gathering in front of the press. "People who do get killed, unfortunately, through criminal activity, are not only white people — the majority of them are Black people."

"The farmers are not Black," Trump said, cutting off his fellow politician. "I'm not saying that's good or bad, but the farmers are not Black. The people are being killed in large numbers, and you saw all of those gravesites."

"Death of people, death, death, death, horrible death, death," the former star of The Apprentice added while reaching for a paper with a horrific photograph on it.

Instead of the image showing anything about the alleged mass deaths of white farmers in South Africa, the picture appears to be of Red Cross workers responding to a mass r*** and murder site in Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The major slip-up comes after Donald Trump reportedly sped up the process of granting white South Africans refugee status in the United States while he continues to be tough on immigration for other nationalities and parts of the world.

He made the change, he said, "because they're being killed and we don't want to see people be killed."

"Now, South Africa leadership is coming to see me — I understand sometime next week — and we're supposed to have a G20 meeting there or something; but we're having a G20 meeting. I don't know how we can go unless that situation's taken care of. But it's a genocide that's taking place that you people don't want to write about, but it's a terrible thing that's taking place," he said during a meeting with the press on Monday, May 12.

Joe Biden pulled out of the 2024 election after he struggled during a presidential debate, but Jake Tapper didn't ask the president about his cognitive skills before the event.

"Not only did you ignore the Jackie Walorski moment when you had him 13 days later, but you ignored the freeze-up that he had at the Juneteenth celebration," Megyn Kelly told Tapper on the May 20 episode of "The Megyn Kelly Show."

In the summer of 2022, after previously commenting on Walorski's death, Biden publicly called on her during a public conference, indicating he'd forgotten she died. Two years later, he appeared to bizarrely freeze as everyone around him danced during the middle of a Juneteenth celebration.

"You ignored what happened at the G7 when he wandered off and Giorgia Meloni, prime minister of Italy, had to go find him," Kelly continued, referencing another time Biden appeared unwell that Tapper failed to investigate.

"You ignored the freeze-up at the George Clooney L.A. fundraiser," she added. "You didn't cover it. You only covered it after the debate, after George Clooney wrote his op-ed [asking Biden to step down]."

"Nobody made you do that," Megyn Kelly told Jake Tapper. "Your network at every turn was telling us those were, quote, 'cheap fakes,' and you were not combatting that narrative."

"CNN was actively misleading us on what our very eyes were showing us," Kelly alleged. "That's the truth, that's the record."

Jake Tapper's previous reporting seemingly failed to capture Joe Biden's decline, but the journalist chose to explore the challenges he didn't acknowledge on air in his book.

"I will acknowledge that after I was named moderator, co-moderator of the debate, I tried to make sure that my coverage was fairly vanilla, both about [Donald] Trump and about Biden, because I just wanted to get to the debate," Tapper told Megyn Kelly.

"Frankly, [I'm] surprised that either one of them agreed to have me as a moderator because both sides disliked me so much," he later added.

Jake Tapper — who previously claimed he doesn't "belong to any political party" — gave credit to conservative media while discussing his own shortcomings in his reporting.

"I remember that moment, the glitch at the immigration event, not getting much attention outside of conservative media at all," he said, referencing a June 2024 instance in which Joe Biden seemingly forgot the name of his Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas.

"[Original Sin co-writer] Alex [Thompson] and I are here to say that conservative media was right and conservative media was correct, and that there should be a lot of soul-searching, not just among me, but among the legacy media to begin with — all of us — for how this was covered or not covered sufficiently. 100%. So, I mean, I'm not here to defend coverage that I've already acknowledged I wish I could do differently," he continued.

Jake Tapper also admitted that he apologized to Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, former co-chair of the Republican National Committee Lara Trump, for initially trying to depict her as ableist for asking about Joe Biden's well-being.

Tapper previously implied Trump was mocking Biden's stutter, but he later admitted she was right for asking questions about the president's wellbeing.

"I've already apologized to her," Tapper told Megyn Kelly.

Congressman Rich McCormick — a Republican from Georgia — addressed Donald Trump's conflict of interest on The Dan Abrams Show after host Dan Abrams expressed his concerns over the president having his own meme coin.

"The Trump family and its partners have made like $320 million in trading fees alone since the president's meme coin launched. You okay with all this?" Abrams asked McCormick.

Rich McCormick replied by comparing Donald Trump's role in cryptocurrency to Hunter Biden selling his artwork.

"At least it's an honest conversation this time," McCormick said.

"Before, when people are selling artwork from a son of a certain president for exorbitant amounts, it was considered not really an issue, and I'm not sure why," he continued.

He then admitted, "I think maybe it needs to be addressed."

Rich McCormick later explained how congress analyzes potential misconduct.

"I look at the strict conversation about what we get compensated for as congressmen and as senators and the conflict of interest [reviews] that we have to do every year to make sure we don't have a conflict of interests," he said. "The presidency has much more. And that's something maybe we as a Congress take a look at."

Dan Abrams agreed with Rich McCormick that Congress should "take a look" at potential conflicts of interest: "You're saying that, yeah, we may have to look into that. I mean, it seems to me like you definitely have to look into it, right? It seems like it's sort of unambiguous about the potential risks," he said, adding that he would expect "straight shooters" in Congress to look into the president's crypto ties.

Rich McCormick said the concern is the legality of Donald Trump's meme coin influence, not necessarily the ethics behind it.

"It's not an investigation. It's wide open. It is transparency," he said. "It's not a matter of if it's happening or not."

"That's where the investigation would come," he continued. "We know it's happened. The question is, is it legal? I don't think it's illegal. If it's illegal, it'll be prosecuted because nobody's hiding anything. The question is, should it be illegal? That's the question you're asking."

Rich McCormick also addressed the $400 million jet Qatar gifted Donald Trump, which was revealed through a media report.

"I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been able to hide a gift for $400 million," he said.

"That's true. That's true that eventually it would have become public, but for now, the only reason we know about it is because of a media report," Dan Abrams pointed out.

Two people present in the room alleged Donald Trump explicitly instructed Republicans "don't f*** around with Medicaid" during the gathering of right-wing politicians.

The bold remark comes as the former star of The Apprentice made the case for why changes should be made to the health program: "We're not doing any cutting of anything meaningful," Trump explained. "The only thing we're cutting is waste, fraud and abuse."

However, not all right-wingers were on the same page about the message from Donald Trump and the way the bill currently exists. Republican Representative Chip Roy of Texas expressed wanting more conservative addendums to the bill such as an imposition of work requirements for able-bodied people to take advantage of the entitlement.

Representative Dusty Johnson from South Dakota noted of Donald Trump's stanch instructions for the bill, "He paints with some colorful phrases, many that we hear more often here than we do in South Dakota."

Despite the delivery, Johnson knew what Trump wanted in the end: "When he says don't touch things, he means don't make adjustments to the bill as drafted. The president is the world's best salesman. You could tell that he moved the room," he told the press.

As the bill currently stands, in 2029, an 80-hour-per-month work requirement on able-bodied adults ages 19 to 64 on Medicaid will go into effect. Also, Medicaid beneficiaries whose annual incomes are over the federal poverty line of $15,650 will be required to pay up to $35 per medical service.

According to an initial Congressional Budget Office projection, 8.6 million are at risk of losing their coverage.

One person who is not fond of Donald Trump's proposed bill is usually supportive Kevin O'Leary.

"This is anti-American. It's against small business. I've never seen anything like it. You want to talk about [a] big, beautiful bill? This is a big, ugly piece of that bill. It's got to get fixed," the Shark Tank star said during a Tuesday, May 13, appearance on Varney & Co.

After Marco Rubio spoke with top Syrian officials last week while accompanying Donald Trump on his trip to the Middle East, the former senator brought the vital information he gathered back to Washington, D.C.

"It is our assessment that, frankly, the transitional authority, given the challenges they're facing, are maybe weeks — not many months — away from potential collapse and a full-scale civil war of epic proportions, basically the country splitting up," Rubio warned.

"The lifting of the sanctions, its most immediate impact will be to allow neighboring countries to begin to assist the transitional authority to build governance mechanisms that allow them to actually establish government, unify the armed forces under one banner," he said.

The Florida native emphasized how the sanctions alone "won't be enough" to stabilize Syria: "There's going to have to be something done congressionally or more comprehensively," he added.

During Donald Trump's visit to the Middle East, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman helped to organize a meeting between the leader of the United States and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

According to reports, during their meeting, Trump allegedly advised al-Sharaa to sign the Abraham Accords recognizing Israel.

"Tough guy. Strong past. Very strong past. Fighter," the Republican leader noted to the media about his fellow world leader.

Although Ahmed al-Sharaa seemed to make an impression on Donald Trump, he allegedly has a checkered past. The newly appointed leader reportedly fought America as a member of Al Qaeda in Iraq in the early 2000s before leaving the group in 2016 and becoming an advocate for religious diversity.

"The bad news is that the transitional authority figures — they didn't pass their background check with the FBI," Marco Rubio explained during the Tuesday, May 20, hearing about al-Sharaa. "On the flip side of it, if we engage them, it may work out, it may not work out. If we do not engage them, it was guaranteed to not work out."

In a passage obtained by RadarOnline.com of Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson's book Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, the CNN anchor recalled a question he asked Joe Biden during a September 2020 town hall about being completely transparent about his health.

"If you're elected, you would be the oldest president ever. Will you pledge that, if you're elected, you will be transparent about your health?" Tapper asked. "All facets of your health, with urgency, so that we know?"

"Yes, when it occurs, when anything occurs," Biden answered. "And anything can happen. Anything can happen. I have become a great respecter of fate, a great respecter of fate. I have seen too much of it in my family related to accidents alone. So, I guarantee you, I guarantee you, I will be totally transparent in terms of my health and all aspects of my health."

On Sunday, May 18, Joe Biden's team announced he was battling the life-threatening illness. "Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone," the statement from the Biden's camp read.

While Biden claims he only recently found out about his condition, many Americans wonder if he and the people around him knew about the state of his health prior to trying to run for president again last year.

"Oh yeah. He did not develop it in the last 100-200 days. He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency, in 2021," oncologist Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel claimed to MSNBC's Morning Joe. "I don't think there's any disagreement about that."

Dr. Howie Forman, a professor of radiology and biomedical imaging, public health management and economics at Yale, also believes Biden was aware of his frail state before leaving office. "It is inconceivable that this was not being followed before he left the presidency," he said via RadarOnline.com.

After claiming that Joe Biden was not in the best shape to lead the nation for years, the current president, Donald Trump, continued to fuel the fire even more in his remarks.

"I think it's very sad, actually," Trump told reporters on Monday, May 19. "I'm surprised that the public wasn't notified a long time ago because to get to stage nine (Gleason score), that's a long time. Somebody is not telling the facts. It's a big problem."

Kentucky representative Thomas Massie opposed every procedural move to advance Donald Trump's bill. 

"I don't think Thomas Massie understands government. I think he's a grandstander and I think he should be voted out of office," Trump told journalists before meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson, according to the New York Post.

Despite the differences of opinion within the Republican Party, Donald Trump still believes his peers are on his side.

"It's not a question of holdouts, we have a tremendously unified party," the president stated. "I don't think we've ever had a party like this. There are some people that want a couple of things that maybe I don't like or they're not going to get."

Trump later acknowledged that lawmakers "gotta make a couple of tweaks" to the bill before it reaches its final stage.

Republicans have been curious about how Donald Trump's plan will change requirements for Medicaid, the federal government's obligations to Medicaid, the green energy subsidies from Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and the SALT tax cap for both state and local taxes.

"We're not doing any cutting of anything meaningful," Trump said when discussing the Medicaid reform in the megabill. "The only thing we're cutting is waste, fraud and abuse."

Republicans in Democratic states have been concerned about how the SALT bill will affect their constituents.

"We don't want to benefit Democrat governors, although I would do that if it made it better, " Donald Trump warned. "We want to benefit Republicans because they are the ones that are going to Make America Great Again. Democrats are destroying our country."

During the meeting in Washington, D.C., Democratic Senator from New Hampshire Maggie Hassan directly asked Kristi Noem, "What is habeas corpus?"

"Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country," Donald Trump's Homeland Security Secretary wrongfully stated.

"Excuse me, that's incorrect," the left-wing politician pointed out before telling Noem, "Habeas corpus is the legal principle that requires, requires that the government provide a public reason for detaining and imprisoning people. If not for that protection, the government could simply arrest people, including American citizens and hold them indefinitely for no reason. Habeas corpus is the foundational right that separates free societies like America from police states like North Korea. As a senator from the 'Live Free or Die' state, this matters a lot to me and my constituents and to all Americans."

Senator Maggie Hassan pressed Kristi Noem on whether or not she supported the idea of the process of habeas corpus for the safety of the American people.

"Secretary Noem, do you support the core protection that habeas corpus provides that the government must provide a public reason in order to detain and imprison someone?" the left-wing representative questioned.

"I support habeas corpus," Donald Trump's staffer said. "I also recognize that the president of the United States has the authority under the Constitution to decide if it should be suspended or not."

Hassan interjected, "It has never been done. It has never been done without approval of Congress. Even Abraham Lincoln got retroactive approval from Congress."

The topic of habeas corpus has come up after White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller claimed Donald Trump was "actively evaluating" if he could do away with the constitutional protection as they continue to deport illegal immigrants.

"The Constitution is clear and that, of course, is the supreme law of the land, that the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus can be suspended at a time of invasion. So, I would say that's an action we're actively looking at," the administration member claimed during a meeting with the press at the White House earlier this month. "A lot of it depends on whether the courts do the right thing or not."

Donald Trump expressed his frustration with America's protections and due process for its citizens as he tries to ship illegal immigrants out of the United States by any means necessary.

"I was elected to get them the h*** out of here and the courts are holding me from doing it," the leader explained during an interview with NBC News about the legal limits.
