inauguration as the 47th President, ✨" Ivanka penned alongside a slew of snaps of the floor-length ensemble.
The brand also shared the blonde beauty's pictures alongside a blurb that read, "For the Inaugural Candlelight Dinner, @ivankatrump wears a custom off-shoulder crystal and pearl floral-embroidered empire waist gown with silver stole."
While some praised the outfit, others condemned the company's decision to dress Ivanka. "Just like it happened during the rise of Nazis, the big brands once again support the evil in the name of higher profits," one person penned below the brand's Instagram update.
"Fascism – but make it
Fashion, 🙄" a second wrote, while another added, "Always have loved. Sad to be done with ODLR. I don't support brands that support fascists."
"I've seen enough today…unfollow ✌🏽," a fourth noted of the move.
"Oh, ok, so we're done with odlr," a fifth said.
The new Second Lady,
Usha Vance, also wore an Oscar de la Renta gown for the lavish gathering. "Incoming Second Lady, Usha Vance, wears a custom noir velvet gown with asymmetric floral accents and a sweetheart neckline for the Vice President's Dinner," the company gushed alongside a
snap of the famous spouse and Vice President
J.D. Vance.
"With his stance on women, immigration and healthcare, I find your support disappointing," one person wrote in the comments section about the new second-in-command.
"Oscar de la Renta's brand integrity down the drain," another added of the support.
Despite the harsh criticism, this is nothing new for
Ivanka. During a recent appearance on the "Skinny Confidential Him & Her" podcast, she explained how she's handled the intense personal reverberations of her dad's political career.
"It was not friends. I definitely had some acquaintances who, you know, their politics diverged wildly from that of my father's," the first daughter explained. "They took things personally or got overly emotional."
"I'm actually really proud of the fact that — I think part of it was really growing up in the
public eye, like, I had a pretty keen eye for what was real," she pointed out.
"And so, the people that I had really let into my life over the years, it didn't surprise me," Ivanka noted. "And I feel really blessed by that because I have friends who, they don't speak to half their family because the time was so emotional."
"I never judge someone by their politics. So, for me, it's not a litmus test. So, I would expect that back from you," The Apprentice alum made clear.
Ivanka added she likes to hear different opinions. "I view conversations with those who disagree with me as, like, an opportunity to learn," she noted.
"I may not agree with them, I may partially agree with them … I feel like that makes you a full human being —when you have people in your life who disagree," the mother-of-three explained.
Instead of focusing on the divide, Ivanka choses to lean into the positive. "There are a lot of other areas where you can vehemently agree and so I focus on those," she said.
