The eyes of the world were on Great Britain on May 19, 2018, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. They are now officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meghan wore a dress by British designer Clare Waight Keller, the first female artistic director at the French fashion house Givenchy. When Harry saw his bride, he whispered, "You look amazing." There was drama leading up to the nuptials though, and it concerned who would walk the bride down the aisle. Meghan walked down the aisle with her young wedding party — not with her father, Thomas Markle Sr., who did not attend as he recovered from a surgical procedure to repair damage incurred by a recent heart attack. Prince Charles joined her halfway to escort her to the altar. The guest list was a who's who of pop culture: George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Priyanka Chopra, Tom Hardy, James Corden, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams and Idris Elba were all there.
The man who allegedly plotted to extort money from Kevin Hart over a sex video has been criminally charged with extortion. The man, Jonathan Todd Jackson, is one of Kevin's friends. A really close friend too. "Mind blown … Hurt … at a loss for words and simply in complete disbelief at the moment. WOW," Kevin tweeted on May 2 after learning the identity of his alleged extortionist, who was charged with attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter, both felonies. Last September, Kevin was caught in the middle of a cheating scandal after he allegedly stepped out on his then-pregnant wife while in Las Vegas. The video purporting to show Kevin having sex was secretly recorded last summer. Prosecutors say Jonathan tried to get money out of Kevin in return for keeping the video secret. TMZ reported that Kevin and Jonathan, who goes by JT, have been close for 15 years. JT, an actor, was in "S.W.A.T." and Kevin's film "Think Like a Man Too."

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry seem to have buried the hatchet. Or have they? On May 8, Taylor posted a video to her Instagram Stories that showed a literal olive branch in a box along with a card. The package was from longtime nemesis Katy Perry. "So I just go to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch. This means so much to me," Taylor said. A Katy Perry fan account posted the video and it zoomed in on the first few sentences of the card, which allegedly read, "Hey old friend – I've been doing some thinking on past miscommunications and feelings between us and wanted to clear the air…" And all is perfect again, right? Well, a source told British tabloid The Sun that Katy was upset with how Taylor handled the situation. "Katy expected that Taylor would post something about it," a source said. "But she didn't expect the actual letter to go on social."
Kanye West has revealed that he became addicted to opioids after having liposuction in 2016. "Two days before I was in the hospital I was on opioids," he said during a bizarre interview on "TMZ Live" on May 1. "I was addicted to opioids. I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y'all. I got liposuction because I didn't want y'all to call me fat like y'all called Rob [Kardashian] at the wedding and made him fly home before me and Kim [Kardashian West] got married." The rapper was memorably hospitalized in November 2016 in the throes of a mental breakdown following a series of on-stage meltdowns during his Saint Pablo tour. "I was taking two pills a day at that time," he said. "When I left the hospital how many pills do you think i was given? Seven. I went from taking two pills to taking seven." He claimed he's in a good place mentally now, but people who know him have expressed concern that he's not taking his prescribed medication. "These pills that they want me to take three of a day, I take one a week maybe, two a week. Ya'll had me scared of myself, of my vision, so I took some pills so I wouldn't go the hospital and prove everyone right. We are drugged out. We are following other people's opinions. We are controlled by the media and today it all changes." It was a wild month for Kanye. During May he also expressed his "love" for Donald Trump and said slavery was "a choice."
Miranda Kerr is a mother again. The model and her husband, Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, welcomed a baby boy on May 7 in Los Angeles. They named their son Hart after Evan's grandfather. It's the first child for the couple, but it's Miranda's second, as she shares 7-year-old son Flynn with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.
Anthony Hopkins' relationship with his lone child is so strained and so nonexistent that he doesn't even know if he's a grandfather. He also doesn't care. In an interview with the Radio Times, Anthony was asked if his daughter, Abigail Harrison, has children. He replied, "I don't have any idea. People break up. Families split and, you know, get on with your life. People make choices. I don't care one way or the other." When told that his response sounded "cold," he said, "It is cold. Because life is cold. It's like [playwright] John Osborne's response when someone said to him, 'Mr. Osborne, your play is so offensive,' and he said, 'Life is offensive.'" Later in the month, he claimed he never meant to come off as unfeeling. "No, I wasn't cold. I'm not cold. Her choice is her choice," he told Britain's The Times newspaper. "You know, I did the best I could, but you know, okay, I think if somebody doesn't want to be part of my life, fine. Go and do whatever you want. I wish her well…"
And the first shoe has dropped. On May 25, Harvey Weinstein surrendered to New York City police, who escorted him to be arraigned on charges of first- and third-degree rape and committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree. He walked into the courthouse in handcuffs. The legal proceeding comes about seven months after many, many women came forward alleging sexual misconduct and assault against the film mogul. The legendary producer's bail was set at $10 million. He was released after posting $1 million in cash, and he was also fitted with a monitoring device. Harvey could also be facing federal charges in the future. He didn't enter a plea, but his attorney said, "Mr. Weinstein has always maintained that he has never engaged in non-consensual sexual behavior with anyone. Nothing about today's proceedings changes Mr. Weinstein's position. Mr. Weinstein maintains that he is not guilty of the charges filed today and is confident that he will be fully exonerated." One of his accusers (in an unrelated incident), actress Rose McGowan, said she's looking forward to the upcoming trial. "If I'm allowed to, I will attend," she told the Associated Press. "And hopefully that will actually heal a lot of the kind of trauma I get whenever I see his face or whenever I hear his name or whenever I have to read or hear that he says it was consensual."

He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. He asked a judge to terminate spousal support for both of them. News of the split had been rumored for several days. Many even thought Jeff, a highly regarded floral designer, had perhaps been unfaithful. "Jeff would never cheat," the "Arrow" actor wrote on Twitter. "He's an amazing man. Please stop being mean to him."

CNN broke the story on May 24, reporting that it spoke to 16 people — eight of them said they were victims, the other eight said they witnessed Morgan's alleged actions. After the report was made public, the legendary actor said, "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent." In the wake of the scandal, both Visa and Vancouver's TransLink transit system stopped using the actor's likeness and voice.

Rapper T.I. claims racism came into play during his May 16 arrest for alleged assault and public drunkenness. T.I. was arrested and handcuffed at his guard-gated community in Georgia after he and a security guard at his community's guard shack got into a "heated" argument. T.I. claimed the guard was sleeping on the job and wouldn't let him into his community. The rapper said he never laid a finger on the man during the confrontation and insisted the guard was "antagonizing" him. Eventually, police were called and T.I. was cuffed and booked into jail. The rapper spoke to The Blast after he was released and said he got locked up because he's an affluent African-American celebrity and police near his home are "white cops in a very white area."
