TV star reveals she was secretly hospitalized for four days, details family's health issues

On Aug. 20, actress and reality TV star Tori Spelling announced that she'd been hospitalized.

The following day, it emerged that she was discharged the same day she posted about her mystery hospitalization. Page Six published video and photos of Tori being escorted to an SUV in a wheelchair.

The actress and reality TV star, who appeared distraught and unsteady, had visible bruising on her cheek as she left the medical facility.

The news came months after she revealed that some of her five children were also sent to the hospital or treated at urgent care facilities for various health issues, which she later suggested were due to "extreme mold."

Message from the hospital

Tori Spelling took to her Instagram Story on Aug. 20 to reveal that she'd been hospitalized. "4th day here and I'm missing my kiddos so much," the reality TV star and former "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress captioned an image of an IV in her hand and a hospital band around her wrist showing that she was admitted on Aug. 17.

She did not indicate what her specific health issue is, but she did share a message to her five kids…

Message to her kids

Tori Spelling wrote a message to the five children she shares with estranged husband Dean McDermott — who earlier in the summer posted a since-deleted split announcement — on her Instagram Story on Aug. 20, writing, "Grateful and so proud of my strong, brave, resilient and kind to the core children who remain positive no matter what comes my way."

Previous hospitalizations

In January 2023 — a month after Tori Spelling herself was admitted to a hospital for having a "hard time breathing, [with] high blood pressure and crazy dizziness" plus "low oxygen" — she revealed that three of her five children went to the hospital within a two-week span. Son Liam McDermott, 16, went to the emergency room for a "viral infection [that] triggered severe migraine and neck pain," she wrote on Instagram. "He's my stoic one," she added, noting that she'd "never seen him in this much pain in his life."

The same day, her youngest, son Beau McDermott, went to the hospital. "Our little… he's so brave," she wrote of Beau, 6. "He's ok! He was born with one kidney that doesn't completely empty so he's having his renal scan done today."

The previous week, Tori and Dean's daughter Stella, 15, was hospitalized and later diagnosed with a hemiplegic migraine, which is a rare type of migraine that usually impacts one side of the body.

Mold discovered

In May 2023, Tori Spelling announced that her family had learned they were facing health issues because of an "extreme mold" infestation in their home. The "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress posted photos of her kids at an urgent care clinic on Instagram and opened up about what they've been dealing with, explaining they've "all been on this continual spiral of sickness for months." While she initially assumed the constant illnesses were a byproduct of having five kids in school, she soon figured out it was more than that, she claimed. "When you have your youngest (10 and 6) so sick they are sleeping all day and say they feel dizzy even standing I knew something bigger was going on," she shared. That's when she had a mold inspection done and found their home was infested with "extreme mold."

"Has anyone ever been thru Mold Infections? You just keep getting sick, one infection after another," she wrote. "Respiratory infections. Extreme allergy like symptoms too and like my poor Finn skin rashes as well." Elsewhere in the lengthy post, Tori mentioned the house was at some point "labeled a health hazard," but "it's hard to just uproot a huge family especially in midst of all feeling so sick. … But, we now will vacate the home asap." She said the family has renters insurance and will be looking to relocate to a hotel or other rental property "till we can even grasp what to do." The reality TV star and actress also gave a "non shout out to our public school district for repeatedly not believing our kids were as sick as they've been continually." She closed her message by asking if others have dealt with "mold sickness," which she said is more common than she knew.

Marriage in crisis

Amid all the health news Tori Spelling has shared, she's not included husband Dean McDermott in her posts. In June, hints emerged as to why after Dean announced that his 17-year marriage to Tori was over.

Dean shared the news with a post on Instagram before deleting it hours later. It read in part, "It's with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own."

In the days that followed, a source insisted to Us Weekly that the pair — who previously went through rough patches including a cheating scandal in 2014 — were not over. "Tori and Dean are not getting a divorce," the source told Us. "Tori and Dean have been better than ever" recently, the source continued, adding that "they've had their ups and downs like any couple, but [they] have continued working on their marriage through couple's counseling. They love each other and are not going to split." According to the source, "Friends suspect that Dean posted that because he and Tori may have gotten into a big blowout fight last night. He obviously regretted it, so he deleted the post."

But soon after, a source told People magazine that Dean meant what he wrote. "[Dean] 100% wants to get out of the marriage. He took down the post because Tori didn't want him to keep it up. But he's packing his bags and is 100% serious about it," that source said. According to People's source, Dean "can't take it anymore" and told Tori "he's done."

Prince Christian of Denmark's rumored girlfriend, Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies, "was presented to Queen Margrethe over the summer and they all took tea together. Christian knew they'd hit it off and was thrilled that she invited them to tea. It's an informal stamp of approval for Chiara because Margrethe doesn't take tea with just anyone," a source told Woman's Day in August.

"However, she does take very seriously her lineage and takes it as her duty to invest time in Christian's happiness and his choice of partner," the source continued, adding that Chiara was "in awe of the queen" and had been "practicing her curtsies for months" before they met. "She did very well and made a good impression on Queen Margrethe. Christian's relieved — and so is his mom, Princess Mary," the source added.

According to a second source, both of Prince Christian's parents — Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary — think Chiara (full name: Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Noto and Capri) is "wonderful" and "brings out the best in their son," though "they're worried about their ages" — Christian is 17 and Chiara is 18 — because "Mary wants them both to experience the world before buckling down to a very serious partnership."

Still, according to a third source, "There's no doubt an engagement announcement is on the horizon and the palace is preparing accordingly." Other insiders reportedly noted that Christian — a future king of Denmark — is "completely smitten" with Chiara, who's told Danish press that she and her rumored beau have "a beautiful friendship" and "a lot of fun together."

Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies is the younger daughter of Prince Charles, Duke of Castro — who's the head of the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies, which reigned over the South of Italy for more than 150 years — and wife Princess Camilla.

Chiara — who also holds the title Duchess of Noto and Capri — was born in Rome in 2005 and, along with older sister Princess Maria Carolina, is fluent in six languages. The siblings, who were educated by private tutors, People magazine reported, split their time between Paris, Monte Carlo and Rome.

Despite playing a reporter who's deeply affected by cancel culture on "The Morning Show," Jennifer Aniston can't wrap her brain around the phenomenon.

"[I'm] so over cancel culture," says the actress and producer, 54, in a new interview with WSJ Magazine. "I probably just got canceled by saying that. I just don't understand what it means … Is there no redemption? I don't know. I don't put everybody in the Harvey Weinstein basket," she explains, referencing the notorious movie producer's sexual assaults charges.

Jennifer goes on to recall her own interactions with Harvey, who's now behind bars. "I remember actually, he came to visit me on a movie to pitch me a movie. And I do remember consciously having a person stay in my trailer." (Harvey reportedly told WSJ Jennifer "never had any uncomfortable instances with me.")

The former "Friends" star also opens up about her love life in the interview, telling the outlet how her parents' unhappy marriage and eventual divorce when she was young still affects her.

"My parents, watching my family's relationship, didn't make me kind of go, 'Oh, I can't wait to do that,'" she says, explaining that "it was almost easier to be solo" because she had no "real training in that give-and-take" that's necessary for a marriage to succeed.

"It's just about not being afraid to say what you need and what you want," Jennifer later says. "And it's still a challenge for me in a relationship."

Britney cameo?

After Madonna's recent health scare and news of Britney Spears' split from husband Sam Asghari, Madge reportedly wants Brit to join her onstage during her upcoming Celebration tour. Sources tell Page Six Madonna sees a possible Britney cameo at one of her five Los Angeles shows in March 2024 as a nice way to mark the 20th anniversary of the pair's 2003 collab, "Me Against the Music." "Madonna originally wanted Britney to join her on tour this year. Everything was pushed back because of her illness, but she still wants Britney to join her at the Kia Forum," claimed the Page Six source. The insider noted that "some of the dance routines have been toned down for [Madonna] so that it's not so strenuous" after she spent time in the hospital earlier this summer. "She will still be putting on a great show, but her team's main concern is ensuring that she's healthy and can get through the tour from start to finish," said the source. Britney, 41, last performed with Madonna, 65, in 2008. The pair teamed up more recently for a jokey cover of "Vogue" at Britney's and Sam's wedding.

A family, divided

In the wake of his tenure on "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Jon Gosselin says he's been out of touch with most of his children — and his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin — for many years. Jon and Kate famously brought TV viewers inside their lives as they raised eight kids — sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, now 19, and twins Mady and Cara, now 22. "I haven't talked to Mady and Cara for, oh I don't even know, over a decade," Jon tells Entertainment Tonight in a new interview. "And then I haven't talked to Joel, Aaden, Leah and Alexis for five years. At this point, they're adults now. So, I mean, I don't even know their phone numbers or stuff." He's maintained relationships with his son, Collin, and daughter, Hannah, who both live with their dad, but Jon believes Kate's anger towards him keeps their other children from pursuing a relationship with their father.

"So until my other kids figure that out … [and] stop believing in one side of the story, I can't do anything else. I've tried to reach out to them and it has failed numerous times," he says. Jon and Kate's TLC show aired from 2007 until 2017. He says they no longer speak. "I haven't heard her voice since 2018."

Safety sisters

Forget trained security, Drew Barrymore has 23-year-old singer and actress Reneé Rapp to thank after she expertly protected the star from an aggressive fan on Aug. 21. The two were onstage at New York City's 92nd Street Y, where Drew was interviewing Reneé about her new album when a man interrupted the program by yelling Drew's name from the audience. Video of the incident shared on social media shows Drew looking a bit rattled before politely responding, "Oh my god, yes? Hi." But her politeness soon turned to seeming confusion and concern as the man rushed toward the stage, yelling that he's "Chad Michael Busto," and telling Drew, "You know who I am, I need to see you at some point while you're in New York." Security guards moved in just as the man got to the stage, where they blocked him — but Reneé wasn't having any of it. The singer jumped to her feet, put one arm around Drew's waist and positioned herself between Drew and the man — who was still trying to talk to the daytime host — then escorted Drew offstage. The man was apparently removed before Drew and Reneé walked back out to continue their onstage chat.

"Well, I have a new definition of your sexiness," Drew gushed to Reneé. "It's that level of protectiveness! That went full 'Bodyguard.' You are my Kevin Costner!" Social media users sharing the video online have since dubbed the man Drew's "stalker," though it's unclear if he was arrested or simply tossed out of the theater.

Host swap

Mayim Bialik has stepped down from hosting "Celebrity Jeopardy!" as Hollywood writers and actors unions continue to strike. Insiders tell Variety the "Blossom" alum exited "in solidarity" with the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, and she'll be replaced by her regular "Jeopardy!" co-host, Ken Jennings — who's already been called out on X (formerly Twitter) for crossing the picket lines amid demands from his TV peers for better pay and improved working conditions.

Asked how the "Jeopardy!" shows would move forward without writers, showrunner Michael Davies recently cited plans to use a mix of "material that our WGA writers wrote before the strike" and recycled questions from past seasons. The writers' union went on strike May 2, followed by the actors' union on July 14. Season 2 of "Celebrity Jeopardy!" kicks off on Sept. 27.

A 'The Bachelorette' first

The star of the latest season of "The Bachelorette" is now a fiancée — and she made history while getting engaged.

On the Aug. 21 finale of the long-running ABC show, this season's star Charity Lawson accepted a marriage proposal from 30-year-old integrative medicine specialist Dotun Olubeko, marking the first time the franchise has ended with a monoracial Black couple getting ready to say "I do."

Speaking to People, both Charity and Dotun said they hadn't considered the fact that they were making history with their engagement. "That came as a shock, and I think it's something that's really beautiful," Dotun told the outlet. "And it's a huge part to our love story," said Charity, a child and family therapist. "I think that also just shows love is love, and we can't really put a label on that. It is important this type of love to be shown. Even when we see movies or we see TV shows, there is this narrative sometimes that with Black couples, that there's this ginormous struggle, or there's hurdles that you have to overcome in order to obtain one another or make this thing work, and that's the reality."

Looking ahead, Dotun said he and his bride-to-be look forward to showing fans "what beautiful Black love can be like." He added, "And we hope that the franchise also continues down that path."

"The Bachelorette" season 20 runner-up Joey Graziadei, meanwhile, is set to return to Bachelor Nation as the next star of "The Bachelor."

Jinger Duggar Vuolo had a "happy childhood," though she now believes that she suffered from religious obsessive compulsive disorder stemming from her strict upbringing in the notorious Duggar family and their adherence to the beliefs espoused by the Institute in Basic Life Principles. In a lengthy conversation with Mayim Bialik on the actress's "Breakdown" podcast, the former "Counting On" star said her family's rules were "terrifying" and that she lived in constant fear of upsetting God — a primary symptom of faith OCD. The International OCD Foundation describes sufferers of faith OCD as "scrupulous individuals who are overly concerned that something they thought or did might be a sin or other violation" of their religious doctrine.

The "19 Kids and Counting" alum — who's the sixth eldest of the Duggar children — spoke to Mayim about all things Duggar, including how she was "trying to appease God at every turn," though she still won't label her former church a "cult."

Although she's now regarded as one of the "rebel Duggars," Jinger, 29, wasn't always that way. "I was a very compliant child. I was never one to push the boundaries. I wanted to do what was right," she explained on Mayim Bialik's "Breakdown" podcast. "If I was going to bed at night, I'd be terrified in fear thinking, 'Have I done what's right? Did I forget any of the principals?'"

Sometimes she'd even wake up in the middle of the night and read her bible if she felt she forgot a lesson from the Institute In Basic Life Principles doctrine. "Otherwise maybe God's gonna smite me dead," she explained. "You start to feel this fear or anxiety within because the teachings produce that." Her life, she said, revolved around God in every facet including her diet, hobbies and recreational activities.

She no longer practices the Institute In Basic Life Principles, but Jinger Duggar still struggled when asked if she was in a "cult." Said the former reality star on Mayim Bialik's "Breakdown" podcast, "I say now that you could have very cult-like stuff within it. It's hard to say was it a cult. It would have to be up to the experts to examine it and see. But there were elements of it that were cult-like, for sure."

Jinger feels lucky that her family still accepts her even though she left the church: "For some kids when they leave, their families no longer want to talk to them or they'll have this certain level of cutting them off," she said.

Jinger Duggar dropped many bombshells about her faith and family when she published her book, "Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear," earlier this year. (She called the Institute In Basic Life Principles teachings "harmful.") Still, it was a long time before the mother-of-two was comfortable publicly sharing her thoughts about the doctrine with which she grew up. "When I first thought, 'Should I write a book?' It took me years to get to that place because, for one, I wanted to work through first myself for those years on disentangling, taking apart the truth from the error myself before I came to the place of talking about it publicly," she said on Mayim Bialik's "Breakdown" podcast. "Why I wanted to write this book was to help those in the community who may still be there or to help those who have been harmed by it."

Jinger Duggar was so indoctrinated by the teachings of the Institute In Basic Life Principles that she believed anyone who strayed from the course was "putting their family's chance for success at risk." During an appearance on Mayim Bialik's "Breakdown" podcast, she said, "I would kind of look at other people outside of our circles and think, 'OK, maybe they're walking with God. Maybe they're not.' Because you kind of see differences. If women wore pants in their family, I was like, 'OK, well, I know they're not obeying every rule as they're supposed to.'"

Ultimately, one of her brothers-in-law — presumably sister Jessa Duggar's husband, Ben Seewald, who's a pastor — "challenged [her] way of thinking with how [she] read the Bible." Her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, also read the Bible entirely differently than she did, she noted.

Jinger Duggar is quick to point out that she still has a relationship with God, but it's not "burdensome" anymore. "I'm in this place of delight in my relationship [with God] where it's not burdensome, and it's not like if I don't read my bible today that God is up there like, 'Ok, now I'm going to have you be in a car accident because you didn't read your bible," she said. "There's a delight and a love for God that changed everything."

When Jinger reads the Bible now — which she "loves," she said — it's because she wants to. "It's not out of fear," she explained. "There's a relationship change of God as father — not [someone] looking like, 'I'm out to get you at every turn.'"

Aerial photos show the mother of five — who filed to divorce Billy Ray Cyrus in the spring of 2022 following nearly three decades of marriage — and the "Prison Break" alum exchanging vows in front of a small gathering of friends and family members in an outdoor ceremony beside a swimming pool.

It was a whirlwind road to the altar for Tish — who shares well-known offspring Miley Cyrus, Noah Cyrus, Brandi Cyrus and Trace Cyrus with Billy Ray — and Dominic, who popped the question in April.

In February, Us Weekly reported that, according to a source, Tish "truly feels like she found her soulmate" with Dominic. "Things couldn't be going better for [them]," the source said at the time, adding that Tish "wanted to keep their romance under wraps for a little while until she was sure he was The One" but that it "didn't take long" for her to reach that conclusion.

"They've been inseparable since. She absolutely sees a future with him and feels so blessed that they found each other," the insider said.

One Foxy lady isn't feeling the "vanity" of one major TV star.

Megyn Kelly took aim at Kim Kardashian after being made aware of a recent incident in which "The Kardashians" star got special treatment at the DMV and brought her own glam squad to ensure the perfect driver's license photo. "It's not personal. I don't think she's evil," the former Fox News personality said on her The Megyn Kelly Show podcast. "I just hate what she represents."

In the clip, it appeared that no one else was in the DMV, leading Megyn to assume Kim went after hours or shut down the facility during daytime hours. "I can't stand her for all sorts of reasons," Megyn said, adding that she was unaware of the whole license to-do, but now she's disgusted by it.

On a June episode of "The Kardashians," Kim Kardashian got the ultimate special treatment at the DMV. The reality star and SKIMS founder walked into a Los Angeles DMV office with her hairstylist, makeup artist and a lighting team so she could retake her driver's license picture, which she called "the most important photo you'll ever take in your life." After her glam squad touched up her makeup and hair and waited as Kim asked a DMV employee for photo approval — then posed for a second snapshot after deciding the first wasn't good enough — she explained, "I really just want it to look good, like why not bring a light and a glam team? It's definitely crazy, but I don't care."

After seeing the clip of Kim Kardashian's DMV visit, Megyn Kelly called it "stomach turning." "She's all about appearances. That's the only thing that matters to her, that's it," Megyn argued on her SiriusXM show. "Even her billion-dollar brand is all about sucking in your fat so you can look better. That's her contribution to the world. I'm not saying it's bad, but that's where she's making her money, looking at herself and encouraging young girls of America and around the world to look at themselves and have other people look at them instead of listen to them." Megyn added, "When you listen for 20 seconds, you're revolted at the banal emptiness that is the shell of that woman."

Kim Kardashian wasn't the only person to catch Megyn Kelly's ire. Kim's mother, Kris Jenner, was also a target. "[Kim] had a mother who fed her to the wolves," Megyn insisted while questioning Kris's parenting abilities. The newswoman claimed Kris "exploited" Kim and "made" the 42-year-old release her infamous sex tape with Ray J (the podcast host even alleged that Kris helped Kim create the tape.) "It's not entirely [Kim's fault] but now that she's an adult and take responsibility," Megyn fumed.

Elsewhere in the diatribe, Megyn Kelly questioned whether Kim Kardashian is even serious about become a lawyer. "Her fake law degree, which she didn't get, was all just cover to make it seem like she was making an effort to be an intellectual, which she's not and never will be," Megyn stated. "She's about vapid vanity, and I object on so many different levels."

Last October, Kim passed the First-Year Law Students' Examination, also known as the "baby bar," and she's continuing her studies to become a lawyer. Kim, who's never claimed to be an attorney, has been very vocal about prison reform for non-violent offenders, and she even once went to the White House to discuss her ideas with former President Trump.

Meet the unlikely new poster child for the old adage, "Everything in moderation." Yep, Post Malone — the Grammy-nominated musician whose tatted-up style extends to his face, scalp and beyond — recently whittled down his physique by about 60 pounds. He credits the transformation to one big change in his diet: Cutting back on soda. "Soda is so bad. It's so good, but so bad," Post, 28, said on an August episode of the "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast after the host gushed on the air about how "great" he looked. Post then confirmed he was down to 180 pounds from 240 pounds.

The singer, rapper and producer previously hinted that soda played a big part in his slim down, telling fans in an Instagram post in April that he was focused on "eating better," drinking less alcohol and generally being "healthier" since welcoming his first child. Still, he admitted he hasn't gone cold-turkey on his apparent vice of choice. "[If] I had a great show, and you know what, I'm feeling a little bit naughty," he told Joe, "I'm gonna have myself a Coke on ice."

Britney Spears got a subtle but strong vow of support from Pink this week amid news Britney's husband, Sam Asghari, has filed for divorce. Footage of Pink's Aug. 16 performance in Detroit shared by fans on social media shows the singer tweaking a lyric that references Britney to make it more positive. While belting out "Don't Let Me Get Me" onstage at Comerica Park, Pink edited the line, "tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears" to "sweet Britney Spears." The move prompted an audible wave of "aww" from the audience. Speaking to People in February 2023 about the 2001 track, Pink clarified her feelings about the "Toxic" singer. "People think I was picking on Britney on 'Don't Let Me Get Me,' but I've always felt like a big sister to her," Pink told the outlet at the time. "I'm very protective of her, and she's the sweetest person in the world. I wish her well. I cover her in light all day long."

After multiple days of headlines, Sam confirmed he and Britney were calling it quits on Aug. 17. "AFTER 6 YEARS OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER MY WIFE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO END OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER. WE WILL HOLD ONTO THE LOVE AND RESPECT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND I WISH HER THE BEST ALWAYS," he wrote on his Instagram Story. Love for Lizzo

Lizzo's dance crews are vocalizing their support for the singer as she faces sexual harassment and toxic workplace allegations from three former backup dancers. On Aug. 17, the "Big Grrl" and "Big Boiii" dancers Lizzo recently toured with shared a lengthy letter of praise for their boss, detailing why they "had the time of our lives on The Special Tour" with her. "We have been so honored to share the stage with such an amazing talent," the crews wrote, in part, on their official Instagram accounts. "The commitment to character and culture taking precedence over every movement and moment has been one of the Greatest lessons and Blessings that we could possibly ask for. THANK YOU to Lizzo for shattering limitations and kicking in the doorway for the Big Grrrl & Big Boiii Dancers to do what we love!"

The dancers' gratitude post comes less than a month after three former dancers filed a lawsuit against Lizzo claiming they were subjected to sexual harassment, weight-shaming and more toxic behavior on the job. "These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional," Lizzo responded to the lawsuit in a statement on social media. "I know what it feels like to be body shamed on a daily basis and would absolutely never criticize or terminate an employee because of their weight."

In their letter this week, the current backup dancers added: "You have created a platform where we have been able to parallel our passion with a purpose! Not only for us, but for women and all people breaking barriers. So grateful that the standards and existence of beauty in this team goes beyond the surface!"

Kid Rock's opposition to Bud Light has apparently taken a backseat to his thirst for the stuff — and just four months after he railed against the brand for partnering with transgender activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney! Despite his angry posts about the beer brand, one of which featured the country singer and bar owner shooting Bud Light cans with an assault-style rifle, Kid himself was spotted drinking a Bud Light in Nashville on Aug. 17, according to photos published by TMZ the following day. Snapped at Colt Ford's concert, the pics also show the folks Kid was mingling with at the venue knocking back cans of Bud Light. Dylan's one-off ad campaign for the beer sparked a wave of controversy, with beer fans both for and against her brief endorsement deal sounding off on social media. At one point over the summer, Dylan told her own social media followers that she'd fled the country after she began to feel unsafe at home in the United States.

Star-studded 80th

Robert De Niro rang in his 80th birthday on Aug. 17 with a celebrity-packed party in New York City. The two-time Oscar winner arrived at the bash at Locanda Verde restaurant with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, who welcomed the couple's new daughter in April, making Robert a proud father of seven. Other celebrity guests who joined the legendary film star for the occasion included Paul McCartney and his wife, Nancy Shevell, Uma Thurman and her father, Robert Thurman, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert's "Deer Hunter" co-star, Christopher Walken, along with his wife Georgianne. Wrestling icon reveals he quit alcohol 7 months ago

Hulk Hogan was the face of the professional wrestling industry for decades, but his biggest fight was with himself. The Hulkster, now 70, was once addicted to pain medication — something that stemmed from the 25 surgeries he's undergone.

The WWE legend equated his dependency on pain pills to a "dog chasing a bone."

"I had doctors writing me prescription after prescription, and all of a sudden, it became a vicious cycle. I was hitting the pain pills hard because I'd had to endure 25 procedures, including 10 to my back, facial operations from being kicked, knee and hip replacements and abdominal and shoulder surgeries," he told Muscle And Health.

"There was a period of time, about five or six years ago, where I was in crazy pain to the extent I couldn't even function. When you have back surgery, it takes a good year for your body to recover, yet they were cutting on me every four months. I needed pain meds at that stage, that's for sure," he continued. "But once things started to wind down, they continued giving me the same meds. It got to a point where I'd recovered from the tenth back surgery, and the pharmacy would call me and say, 'Your prescription's ready,' and like a dog chasing a bone, I'd go pick it up."

At one point, Hulk Hogan was still religiously taking pain medication when he realized he didn't need it. "I just looked at myself and said, 'I'm not in pain. I don't need this. My body hurts from all the wrestling injuries, but I'm not in this excruciating pain that I can't live with,'" he recalled.

Not long after, he was turned onto CBD, which changed everything for him. "CBD took me to a place where my joints don't hurt so much when I wake up. When I pick weights up, I don't have to do four or five sets before things start to become clear. I can tell as soon as the CBD hits my system, it calms everything down," he said. "The inflammation instantly went away with CBD. Usually, my wrists are swollen like crazy by the end of the day. Now they're fine. I noticed an immediate change as soon as I started on it."

CBD, Hulk Hogan says, helps him "wind down slowly." He also feels it's great for people who are coming off alcohol addictions, something he knows a little about. "I've had a lot of practice drinking," he joked to Muscle And Health. The former New World Order member has long spoken about his drinking and his one-time love of beer, but he's been alcohol free since the calendar turned to 2023. "About seven months ago, I decided not to drink any more alcohol," he said. "I was at a New Year's Eve party and saw a bunch of stuff that I didn't condone or like. I saw myself in this environment, and I went, 'You know what? I don't know how I got here, but I'm done.' It was just that one thing."

He added, "I was around people who believed and behaved differently from me, and I just said, 'I'm out.' It feels much better to be so clear-headed. I'm no longer tempted to drink alcohol. I don't have an addictive personality. I mean, with anything. It can be business or people or alcohol or drugs. When I'm done, I'm done."

Some of Hulk Hogan wrestling buddies have actually tired to push alcohol on him over the past few months and have even threatened to axe him from their lives if he didn't imbibe. "I've had certain wrestlers look at me in the face and go, 'If you don't have a drink with me, you're not my friend,'" he explains. "'[I say,] well, I am your friend, but I'm not going to drink with you. What are you going to do about it?' Sometimes wrestlers are a little intimidating. I have a lot of friends who like to party, but they no longer try to push alcohol on me."

After he stopped his alcohol intake, Hulk Hogan noticed his waistline dropping. "As soon as I quit drinking, I had no desire to eat junk at night, and the weight just started falling off me. In actual fact, I wish I'd have lost it more slowly because when your arms are really big and shrink up two or three inches, you have loose skin on them. I didn't think it was going to come off so fast," he said.

Otter attack

"Succession" actress Crystal Finn recently joined a growing list of victims of otter attacks, the TV and Broadway star told the San Francisco Chronicle on Aug. 16. Crystal, who played Lauren Pawson on season 4 of the hit show, was swimming in Northern California's Feather River in July when she encountered the creatures. "I felt something on my back side and on my leg. I started looking around and yelling out and [the otters] popped up right in front of me. Then they dove down and started going at me again," she told the Chronicle. "I could see the bites on my legs and knew I had been bitten on my [behind] — that one was the worst, but I couldn't see it. The bites really hurt." Crystal was injured badly enough that she sought treatment at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California. She said it was there that she was told otter attacks have been on the rise in the region. Though otters are usually docile around humans, otter attacks have also been reported this summer in Santa Cruz, California, and Montana, according to the Chronicle.

Light at the end of the tunnel

Jamie Foxx's "unexpected dark journey" is coming to an end. The Oscar winner shared a new health update on Instagram on Aug. 16 — four months after he was hospitalized amid an undisclosed health crisis in April. "You're lookin at a man who is thankful…," Jamie captioned a gallery of photos that showed him gazing out into the sunlight from the doorway of what looks like a beach hut. "Finally startin to feel like myself… it's been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light…," he continued. With a new comedy, "Strays," in theaters Aug. 18, Jamie's been sharing glimpses into his recovery in recent weeks, telling Instagram followers in a July post that he kept details of his medical issues under wraps because, "I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through." His latest update earned plenty of support from fans, friends and colleagues, including Jeremy Renner, who nearly died in January in a snowplow accident. "Bless you my friend!!!" Jeremy wrote in the comments.

Change on the brain

Reese Witherspoon has change on her mind as she enjoys the end of the season with her kids. On Aug. 16, the actress and producer shared a handful of photos on Instagram, including shots of herself alongside her sons, Deacon Phillippe, 19, and 10-year-old Tennessee Toth, pictured here. "Soaking up the last days of summer," Reese wrote in the caption. The final snap in the gallery was a text image of a quote by poet Cleo Wade about embracing change rather than fighting it — a sentiment that could apply to the end of summer as much as it could reference the recent end of her marriage to Tennessee's dad, Jim Toth. "Life will change you or you can change with life," the quote read. "We are in motion. Everything we know is always moving. We can wrestle with this energy or we can dance with it. The choice is completely up to you." Reese, who shares Deacon and daughter Ava Phillippe with actor Ryan Phillippe, announced her split from Jim in March 2023.

More 'Blind Side' family drama

Lawyers for the family who inspired "The Blind Side" have denied Michael Oher's claims he earned nothing from the Oscar-nominated 2009 film, while Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who took him in as a teen, earned millions. Earlier this week, Michael filed a petition to end the conservatorship he was placed under by the Tuohys in 2004, alleging the Tuohys misled him into believing they were adopting him when he was actually being stripped of access to his future financial and legal rights. But according to attorneys Randy Fishman and Steven Farese Sr., "a pretty simple [accounting] process" will show Michael's claims are off-base and each member of the family including Michael was paid about $100,000 for the movie, the Tennessean reported on Aug. 16. The attorneys also called out Michael's claim he only learned of the conservatorship in February 2023, telling reporters he wrote about it in his 2011 memoir and noting the Tuohys "did not control any of" Michael's finances.

Actor Quinton Aaron, who played Michael in "The Blind Side," recently told the New York Post that while he knew Michael had criticized the way he was portrayed on film, the claims surprised him. He also called out trolls who've demanded Sandra Bullock return the Oscar she won for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in the film, particularly given the recent death of Sandra's partner Bryan Randall. "Sandra did nothing wrong," he said. "That's my girl and she is going through a really tough time right now."

Divorce details

Britney Spears seems to be taking her split from husband Sam Asghari in stride … or is that gallop? Amid news Sam filed for divorce from the pop star after 14 months of marriage on Aug. 16, Britney hopped on Instagram and shared a cell phone pic of herself riding a horse. The shadow of the photographer looks vaguely like Sam, leading Stylecaster to suggest the post was meant to "shade" Britney's ex. "Buying a horse soon!!! So many options it's kinda hard !!!" Britney captioned the post, which reportedly surfaced hours after Sam's divorce filing. CNN reports Sam's divorce filing cites "irreconcilable differences" and lists the date of separation as July 28. While the nature of those differences remain under wraps, Sam was privately frustrated with Britney's erratic behavior, according to TMZ. On Aug. 17, the outlet reported "sources with direct knowledge" have even claimed Britney allegedly "got physical" with Sam on at least one occasion and "attacked him in his sleep." As for the legal proceedings, Britney reportedly has a prenup that should protect her assets, but Sam's filing indicates he could challenge the agreement, per TMZ. Variety's sources, meanwhile, say Britney has already hired "top divorce lawyer to the stars, Laura Wasser," and is still working with former federal prosecutor, Mathew Rosengart, who successfully brought her conservatorship to an end.

Back in 2020, Kristen Bell raised eyebrows when she revealed that her two children — Delta, 7, and Lincoln, 9 — often drink non-alcoholic beer at home. The kids have even tried to order the beverage at restaurants, she said, adding that she doesn't think she and her husband, Dax Shepard, are doing anything wrong when it comes to their parenting methods.

During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" last month, the actress spoke about her children's penchant for drinking O'Doul's. Now, on an episode of Dax's "Armchair Expert" podcast, she acknowledges that viewers "were very upset about that."

Said the father of two, "This is where we're different and you're at peace and I'm not. … Orange juice has a .5% ABV alcohol by volume. Heineken has a 0.0. … If you're serving your kids orange juice, you're serving them way more alcohol."

Kristen Bell doesn't mind that people are upset about her near-beer revelation, but she also thinks people are missing the bigger picture. "What's so cute about you to me is that you are so logical and fact-driven and evidence-based, but if people want to be angry about something, they're going to be angry about it," Kristen told her husband after he detailed that fruit juice can actually contain more alcohol than non-alcoholic beer. She added, "When they have tried to order [non-alcoholic beer] at a restaurant or something, it's because of a very specific connection to you. Because first of all, they're educated on addiction and what substances are and how they affect your body and how scary they are and what they can do to you."

Shortly after detailing her story, Kristen Bell was hit with a slew of accusations that essentially called her bad mother. In addition, Dax Shepard has long been open about his addiction struggles, which added another layer to the story. "I thought that was kind of a cute story but again, it turned into, 'I let my kids drink,'" she told her husband's podcast. "None of this seems to connect seeing as though you're so open about sobriety and addiction and we're a family that strives to educate everyone about substances."

Amid the outrage at Kristen Bell's parenting decision, Dax Shepard's blood boiled. In fact, he wanted to have a debate. "I'm always going to feel protective," he said on Armchair Expert. "If anyone has a problem that I let my kids drink [non-alcoholic] beer sometimes, that's fine with me. I'm not going to change based on what anybody else says because this is our family and not your business."

Daughters Delta, 7, and Lincoln, 9, like their non-alcoholic beer because it makes them feel closer to their father, Kristen Bell believes. When the kids were young, Dax would often drink an O'Doul's while walking the kids around the neighborhood. The kids see the faux beer as "something special, something daddy." In speaking to Kelly Clarkson, Kristen said, "You can judge me if you want. I'm not doing anything wrong. That's your problem."

In honor of Kristen Wiig's 50th birthday on Aug. 22, 2023, we're checking in on 2000s-era "SNL" stars to find out what they're up to (and look like) today…

Kristen Wiig joined "Saturday Night Live" in 2005 and left the long-running sketch-comedy series in 2012 — a year after she headlined "Bridesmaids." (She and frequent collaborator Annie Mumolo scored Oscar nominations for writing the hit ensemble comedy.) During her time on "SNL," Kristen was known for fan-favorite characters like the Target lady, trouble-making little girl Gilly and compulsive one-upper Penelope. Her myriad celeb impressions included Dolly Parton, Kris Jenner, Madonna, Nancy Pelosi, Taylor Swift, Diane Sawyer and Suze Orman (pictured).

After joining NBC's "Parks and Recreation" as small-town public servant Leslie Knope in 2009, Amy Poehler became a mainstream comedy star. She earned multiple Emmy nods for her work on the show, which wrapped in 2015, as well as nominations for writing and producing the TV series "Russian Doll" starring Natasha Lyonne and for her hosting work alongside "Parks and Rec" co-star Nick Offerman on "Making It."

Amy — who's also starred in films including "Inside Out," "Sisters" (with Tina Fey) and "Moxie" since leaving "SNL" — won an Emmy along with Tina in 2016 after they returned to guest host "SNL" together. Maya Rudolph ruled "Saturday Night Live" from 2000 to 2007 and has made several cameos on the long-running sketch comedy series in the ensuing years. The funnywoman impersonated everyone from Beyonce (pictured) and Donatella Versace to Paris Hilton, Oprah Winfrey and Barbra Streisand.

Post-"SNL," Maya Rudolph appeared in a slew of movies including the "Grown Ups" franchise and "Bridesmaids" and lent her voice to films including the "Angry Birds" movies, "Big Hero 6" (in a role she reprised on the 2022 Disney+ series "Baymax!"), "The Lego Movie 2," "Luca" and more. She's done a lot of TV work too and won Emmys in 2020 and 2021 for voicing characters on the animated sitcom "Big Mouth" and for her guest performances on "SNL" as both a host and for her portrayal of Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 presidential campaign. Rachel Dratch starred on "Saturday Night Live" from 1999 to 2006 and has returned to the long-running sketch-comedy series several times in recent years. During her tenure (and as recently as 2020), she portrayed one of the show's most memorable characters of all time: Debbie Downer (pictured). She also portrayed numerous fictional characters and real-life celebrities including "wicked" Boston teen Denise, Harry Potter, Drew Barrymore, Martha Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor and Britney Spears.

Rachel Dratch has enjoyed a steady presence on the big and small screens for years post-"SNL," appearing on dozens of TV shows including "The Middle" and "Broad City" and in movies like "Click," "Spring Breakdown" alongside pal and fellow "SNL" alum Amy Poehler (Rachel also co-wrote it) and the 2021 Hallmark holiday movie parody "A Clüsterfünke Christmas" on Comedy Central with former "SNL" co-star Ana Gasteyer (Rachel co-wrote that one too).

In 2022, she became a first-time Tony nominee, for best featured actress in a play for her work in "POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumba** Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive." And in 2023, she popped up on a episode of the "Sex and the City" reboot, "And Just Like That…" She authored a book in 2012, "Girl Walks into a Bar…: Comedy Calamities, Dating Disasters, and a Midlife Miracle," in which she discussed her surprise pregnancy with son Eli — whose dad is her now-ex, natural food industry consultant John Wahl — at 44 in 2009. She also opened up about being recast on the hit series "30 Rock" — Rachel was the original Jenna Maroney, a role that went to Jane Krakowski.

Tina Fey joined the "Saturday Night Live" writing staff in 1997 and went on to become the show's first female head writer. She officially joined the cast in 2000 and sat behind the "Weekend Update" news desk — first with Jimmy Fallon and then with longtime BFF Amy Poehler — until she left "SNL" in 2006. Just two years later, she returned to host the long-running sketch-comedy series, and in 2009, she won an Emmy for impersonating Sarah Palin on the show.

Tina Fey left "SNL" and created "30 Rock," on which she starred as Liz Lemon — and won multiple Emmys for her acting, writing and producing work on the hit sitcom, which ended in 2013. The comedy genius then created another successful series, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," on which she made the occasional cameo, and earned even more Emmy nods for that work.

Tina's also appeared in several films including "Muppets Most Wanted," "Sisters" (with bestie Amy Poehler) and "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot." In recent years, she's voiced "22" in Pixar's "Soul" and had a recurring role on Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building." Jason Sudeikis joined "Saturday Night Live" as a writer in 2003 and then served as a cast member from 2005 to 2013. He portrayed President George W. Bush a handful of times (pictured) and famously co-starred alongside Kristen Wiig in the popular "Two A-H****" sketches.

Jason Sudeikis — who returned to "SNL" as a host in late 2021 — went on to star in a handful of comedies like "We're the Millers" and the "Horrible Bosses" sequel. He also had a lengthy stint on "Last Man on Earth" before scoring a major breakthrough with "Ted Lasso," the hit comedy series he starred on, developed and wrote. The series broke records as the most nominated freshman comedy in Emmys history in 2021 with 20 nods. Jason ultimately took home the Emmy for best actor in a comedy series — he also claimed top honors at the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards that year — while the show won the Emmy for best comedy series.

From 2011 to 2020, Jason was in a relationship with actress-director Olivia Wilde — they were engaged but never wed — with whom he shares two children, Otis and Daisy. In 2021, he moved on with "Ted Lasso" co-star Keeley Hazell, but they reportedly split in mid-2022.

Andy Samberg starred on "Saturday Night Live" from 2005 to 2012. He was responsible for some of the show's earliest viral sketches including a series of hit SNL Digital Shorts: "Lazy Sunday," "D*** in a Box," "Motherlover," "J*** in My Pants," "I'm on a Boat" and the Natalie Portman rap.

In 2014, Andy Samberg won a Golden Globe for his work as detective Jake Peralta on the hit sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," on which he starred from 2013 to 2021. He also headlined "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" and the Hulu movie "Palm Springs," voiced one of the main characters in several installments in the long-running "Hotel Transylvania" film franchise and starred as Dale in 2022's "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers." In 2023, he appeared in the film "Self Reliance" and lent his voice to "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."

The multi-hyphenate married musician Joanna Newsom, with whom he has a daughter, in 2013.

Bill Hader had a long stint on "Saturday Night Live" from 2005 to 2013. While fans will always remember him as his wildly popular Stefon character from Seth Meyers' "Weekend Update" segments (pictured), the comedian also made us laugh with his myriad impressions of celebs like Tony Blair, Tim Gunn, Tim Burton, Steven Tyler, Steven Seagal, Stephen King, Robert Pattinson, Phil Spector, Prince Philip, Mark Cuban, John Mayer, Eddie Vedder, David Bowie, Daniel Radcliffe, Conan O'Brien, Clint Eastwood, Adam Levine, Al Pacino… and the list goes on and on!

Since his time on "SNL," Bill Hader has had major success with his own HBO series, "Barry," which has been nominated for more than 30 Emmys. Bill's won two Emmys for best actor in a comedy series for his work on the hilariously dark show, which wrapped in 2023 after four seasons. In 2015, he and former "SNL" co-stars Seth Meyers and Fred Armisen created the IFC series "Documentary Now!" — which parodies a wide range of documentaries. He's also starred in several films like "Trainwreck" and "It: Chapter Two" and voiced characters in the "Angry Birds" movies, the 2017 "Power Rangers" reboot, "Toy Story 4," "Ralph Breaks the Internet" and "The Addams Family 2," among others.

Bill was married to writer-director Maggie Carey from 2006 to 2017. They have three daughters: Hannah, Hayley and Harper. He's since made headlines for his romances with actress Rachel Bilson, whom he dated in 2019 and 2020, and Anna Kendrick, whom he romanced in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, it was revealed that he's dating fellow comedy star Ali Wong.

Seth Meyers left "Saturday Night Live" in 2014 to host "Late Night with Seth Meyers," for which he's earned five Emmy nominations over the years. He's also scored a handful of Emmy nods for his work on "Documentary Now!" — which he created with fellow "SNL" alums Fred Armisen and Bill Hader — and his "Lobby Baby" comedy special, which centers around the arrival of his second child. He also created and voiced a main character in the animated adult comedy "The Awesomes."

Seth married human rights attorney Alexi Ashe in 2013. They have three children: sons Ashe and Axel (the aforementioned "Lobby Baby") and daughter Adelaide, who arrived in 2021.

Kenan Thompson was already famous for his work on Nickelodeon's "All That" and "Kenan & Kel" when he joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in 2003. Fourteen years later, he became the longest-tenured cast member in the show's history — and he's still on the show today!

For nearly two decades, he's had audiences in stitches with characters including the hosts of "Black Jeopardy!" and "What Up with That?" and with his uncanny impressions of celebrities like Steve Harvey (pictured), Al Sharpton, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby and O.J. Simpson. He won an Emmy in 2018 for co-writing the song "Come Back, Barack" from an "SNL" music video sketch, and he's scored four more Emmy nominations for his work on the show over the years.

Kenan Thompson has been busy on and off "SNL." He served as a judge on the NBC comedy competition show "Bring The Funny," stepped into the role of executive producer on Nickelodeon's "All That" reboot and for two seasons starred on his own NBC sitcom, "Kenan," as a widowed father who's determined to be a super-dad. In 2021, he scored double Emmy nominations for his work on both "SNL" and "Kenan."

The funnyman shares daughters Georgia and Gianna with former model Christina Evangeline, whom he married in 2011. The couple separated in 2021, and Kenan filed for divorce in 2022.
