Jamie-Lynn Sigler's ex-husband sentenced in $300 million stock scheme

Jamie-Lynn Sigler's ex-husband was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison for his involvement in a $300 million tax scheme.

Abraxas Discala, who was married to the "Sopranos" star from 2003 to 2006, was also ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution, Page Six reported.

Prosecutors said Abraxas artificially inflated shares of unstable stocks and sold them off as a high to investors. The stocks then all crashed.

Abraxas, who was once the actress' money manager and the former CEO of now-defunct OmniView Capital Advisors, was convicted of the scheme in 2018.

"Discala conspired to manipulate trading activity in penny stocks in furtherance of a scheme to defraud the securities market and investing public of millions of dollars," the US attorney for the Eastern District of New York said in a statement. "With today's sentence, Discala has been held accountable for his crimes and the harm he caused to investors."

Josh Duggar's cousin reacts to guilty verdict: 'Thank you Jesus'

Josh Duggar's cousin Amy Duggar King has never hidden her thoughts about his child pornography case, having recently said she hoped for a conviction.

Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

On Dec. 9, she got her wish after an Arkansas jury found the "19 Kids and Counting" alum guilty of two charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.

Amy chose not to celebrate after the verdict. Instead, she thought of the victim's, Josh's seven children, and the mental health of those involved in the six-day trial.

"May the juror's and Judge Brooks seek healing/counseling from all that was exposed to them," Amy tweeted after the verdict. "May the children grow up with real Godly men as father figures who will guide them and protect them. May the people who were once in disbelief have their eyes opened for the first time."

Amy, who made sporadic cameos on the Duggar family's reality shows, continued in a follow up message, writing, "May the daughters who were abused feel validated. You are truly beautiful and worthy of love. May there be intense counseling / healing. May there be wisdom for all those involved on how to move forward."

She finished her tweet: "Thank you Jesus. Justice has been served."

As jury selection began in Josh's case, Amy hoped for a guilty verdict and urged the judge to give the "ultimate sentence."

Josh will learn his fate at a future sentencing, but he faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.

Washington County Sheriff's Office

In court testimony prior to the trial, a Homeland Security agent said the amount of child pornography allegedly recovered from Josh's property is "in the top five of the worst of the worst that I've ever had to examine." Authorities said Josh, the eldest of the Duggar children, had more than 200 images of "child sexual abuse material."

Amy wasn't the only family member deeply invested in the case. Josh's sister Jill (Duggar) Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard, attended much of the trial. The couple has fallen out with her famous family over the past few years.

"We just wanted to, among other things, see the facts for ourselves," he told People magazine after the verdict, adding, "America is the best country to get justice."

One day before the verdict, Derick tweeted that he was "praying for justice this morning."

Blac Chyna accused of threatening, detaining woman in hotel room

Police are looking into an incident in which Blac Chyna allegedly threatened a woman and held her "hostage" inside a hotel room.

The Sun said the former "Rob & Chyna" star threw a party inside a room at her Sacramento, Calif., hotel on Nov. 27. During that party, an incident allegedly occurred that resulted in Chyna refusing to let a woman leave the room, the report claims.

Kathy Hutchins/Shutterstock

Video shows the woman bolting out of the room after Chyna opens the door.

"Everyone was enjoying themselves; the drinks were flowing and the energy in the suite was real good," party attendee Ron Knighton told the British publication. "Suddenly out of nowhere Chyna just yelled at my friend to shut the f*** up…"

Chyna, the man alleges, threatened physical violence against him and his female friend.

"The vibe immediately changed so at that point we thought it was best to leave – but when I went to walk out she shut the door behind me and kept my friend in the room," he said.

Ron said he waited in the hallway for 20 minutes while hearing his friend's pleas to leave the room from the other side of the door.

After the woman rushed out of the room, Chyna could be heard telling them to stay in the hotel hallway.

"We aren't staying anywhere. We are leaving!" Ron insisted. "You crazy!"

Still, video shows Chyna and members of her entourage following Ron and his friend to the elevators.

Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

Ron continued recording in the elevator as the woman sobbed about how "mean" Rob Kardashian's ex was.

"It was really strange because the evening actually started really well," Ron said, but then Chyna "wouldn't let her leave even though my friend was crying and shouting – she was being a total bully. I don't know what she was trying to achieve but it was just embarrassing and a very disturbing end to the night."

The woman involved in the incident called police after leaving.

"A dispute between two parties occurred, and the incident was resolved at the scene by the individuals involved. No injuries were reported," a police spokesman told The Sun. "The department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation remains active."

'Anchorman' director details near-fatal on-set incident involving Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell was involved in a too-close-for-comfort situation while filming "Anchorman 2," the film's director revealed.

Gregory Pace/Shutterstock

On the heels of the "Rust" tragedy, Adam McKay said there were two frightening incidents in the making of the comedy and its predecessor, one that Will was directly involved in.

"We're always really careful. I always give an extra speech at the beginning," Adam told The Hollywood Reporter. "We had like a near accident on the set of 'Anchorman 2.' It was involving Will, and it was really scary. It was a scene where [Will's character] Ron Burgundy was going to hang himself. It was a silly joke. For a half a second, the rig didn't operate properly and there was actual tension on the rope, but then it gave way and Will was OK. Thank God no one was hurt."

He added, "We were sick about it for two days."

Adam said he and the "Anchorman" team had a meeting after that to discuss safety.

Moviestore/Shutterstock

The director, who was also the producer of the films, acknowledged a scary incident on "Anchorman," too, one that involved a live animal.

"We also had something with a bear in the first Anchorman," he said. "The bear did a hint of a bluff charge for a second. From that moment on, I said, 'I will never put a live animal in a shot with an actor ever again.' So every time I do it, it's a composite shot because it's not worth it."

Interestingly, a bear that Will worked with in 2008's "Semi-Pro" killed a man two months after that film premiered. That was a different bear than the one used in "Anchorman."

Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher share never-before-seen pics while celebrating 20th anniversary

Two decades down, forever to go!

On Dec. 7, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher posted sweet tributes to each other on social media while celebrating their 20th anniversary.

In the process, they also shared never-before-seen images from inside their marriage.

"Happy Anniversary ❤️ 20 YEARS," Isla captioned a tribute. "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together keep me in your heart. I'll stay there forever, Winnie the Pooh."

Sacha also posted the series of images and added his special touch of humor, writing, "Happy Anniversary my love. I'm writing this rather than getting you a card. Our duration is largely due to our location – after all Hollywood is the bastion of lengthy marriages."

Following the tributes, many of Sacha and Isla's celebrity pals posted congratulatory comments. Courteney Cox wrote, "Love you two!" Reese Witherspoon added, "What a couple of goofballs! Love yall!"

The couple, who now share three kids, famously met at a party in Sydney in 2001 and later wed in Paris in 2010.

While the couple maintains privacy, they also speak about the support they get from one another. While talking to reporters at the Golden Globes after winning awards for "Borat: Subsequent Movie Film," Sacha said, "It's impossible to make a movie like this without having an incredibly supporting spouse."

"You know, I went and made two movies in the last 12 months: [The Trial of the] Chicago Seven and Borat 2," he continued. "And these aren't normal shoot days; you're calling up sometimes at the end of the day and just saying, 'I was lucky to make it out in one piece today,' so you need a very, very understanding wife. 2000s heartthrob Josh Hartnett explains why he stepped away from Hollywood

After a string of blockbuster films in the mid 2000s, Josh Hartnett suddenly left Hollywood behind. He has no regrets.

"It was the best thing for my mental health and my career to keep Hollywood at bay," he told the Australian morning show "Sunrise" in a rare interview on Dec. 8. "Luckily I think I hit onto it early on in my life. It's about creating a good home life and being able to do things that are wild and wonderful like making films, which is such a privilege."

David Fisher/Shutterstock

While Josh, 43, is certainly at peace with his decision to back away, he does wish he could have one redo. Back in 2005, he was offered a role in "Brokeback Mountain" opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Josh, though, was committed to something else, and the title roles ended up going to Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal instead.

"Unfortunately, I was going to do 'Brokeback Mountain' and I had a contract with the [2006 film] 'Black Dahlia' that I had to film, so I had to drop out of it," he said, according to Daily Mail Australia. He then joked, "I always wanted to kiss Joaquin."

Since stepping back from major Hollywood roles, the "Black Hawk Down" star has primarily stuck to acting in independent films.

In 2014, the told Details magazine that he "didn't trust anyone" in Hollywood.

"I was on the cover of every magazine," he said at the time. "I couldn't really go anywhere. I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin. I was alone. I didn't trust anyone."

"I still get offered film and TV roles, luckily, but years ago, if I saw a role I wanted, there was a good chance I could grab it," he said. "When I see a role now, I've got to fight for it. It's not bad. It's actually more rewarding. Depressing when something doesn't go your way, but only for a minute."

Jennifer Lawrence describes the 'misery' of working with Leonardo DiCaprio

Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about the "misery" she felt while filming "Don't Look Up" with Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet.

Speaking about one particular scene in a car, which J. Law described as "hell," she said, "It was the most annoying day in my life. [Leo and Timothée] drove me crazy that day."

Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock

"I don't know what it was," Jennifer told Stephen Colbert. "Timothée was just excited to be out of the house [after the pandemic lockdown]. I think it was, like, his first scene. And Leo had picked the song that was playing in the car and was just, like, 'You know, this song was about, you know, blah, blah, blah.' "

The Oscar-winning actress added, "I just remember being in absolute misery that day. It was hell."

Matt Baron/Shutterstock

Despite the PTSD of that day, Jennifer anointed the cast of the movie, including Leo and Timothée, as "cool."

The film is Jennifer's first since 2019's "X-Men: Dark Phoenix."

Speaking of her time away from Hollywood, the actress noted, "I think the things I learned are so deep and profound … that I don't want to tell you. I mean, it was really nice."

The expectant mom continued, "I've always found comfort in a schedule and doing something and being somewhere, and just kind of the comfort of being on set where the world is one thing and very organized. I think coming out of the 'Hunger Games' and all of that, it was nice. I took a break and nobody really cared and it was quiet. I got to feel like I could become a part of the world again without fanfare. Literal fanfare."

Tristan Thompson asks judge to issue gag order in paternity case

Tristan Thompson is trying to shush the woman who allegedly gave birth to his third child.

The NBA player filed an emergency petition in Texas on Dec. 7 that asks a judge to issue a gag order in his paternity case against Maralee Nichols, TMZ reported.

In his court filing, Tristan claims a judge previously issued a confidentiality order orally, and he alleges that Maralee already violated those terms. Maralee, he alleges, has been doing interviews with the media, leaking personal information and speaking about both her pregnancy and Tristan on social media.

Maralee, a personal trainer, wants to "achieve some sort of notoriety and gain for herself in this lawsuit," Tristan says, adding that he wants the court to sanction Maralee for not remaining mum about the pregnancy.

Bottom line: He doesn't want anyone speaking about the case as it plays out in court.

Last week, DailyMail.com reported that Tristan was expecting his third child. While Tristan has his doubts that the child is his, he did admit in legal papers that he had sex with Maralee the evening of his 30th birthday, when he and Khloe Kardashian were still exclusively dating

RHTY/starmaxinc.com/REX/Shutterstock

He maintains the hookup was a one-time thing, but Maralee insists the relationship lasted months.

As part of a paternity lawsuit against the Sacramento Kings player, Maralee's lawyer filed a legal request to submit text messages purportedly sent between her and Tristan. Those messages reveal that Tristan allegedly urged Maralee to get an abortion

Maralee, who moved from Houston to Los Angeles, is suing for child support. An alleged text message from Tristan, posted to TMZ last week, showed him telling Maralee he "won't be involved" in the child's life.

TMZ also reported Tristan offered her $75,000 to stay quiet about the pregnancy.

Since news of Tristan's infidelity broke (again), there have been conflicting reports as to whether the child has been born. People magazine reported it confirmed with Maralee's rep that the baby was born last week, but TMZ reported the child is due "any day now."

Tristan currently shares 4-year-old son Prince Thompson with ex Jordan Craig and 3-year-old daughter True with Khloe.

John Goodman once tipped the scales at roughly 400 pounds, but he's now literally half the man he used to be.

It's estimated that the actor has lost 200 pounds since he was at his heaviest.

Physically speaking, John has a lot to smile about.

"In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits," he told ABC. "This time I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I'm getting to the age where I can't afford to sit still anymore."

In 2018, the "Fargo" star hired a personal trainer to help keep him accountable and on track.

"I took it slow. I just wanted to change my lifestyle. … It's an ongoing process for the rest of my life," he previously told Howard Stern. "You look in the mirror everyday and go, 'I gotta deal with this the rest of the day, I gotta deal with this schmuck?'"

In addition to exercise, John now credits portion control and sobriety as keys to his weight loss.

Blake Shelton explains the 'reason' Adam Levine wasn't invited to his wedding

Open mouth, invite gone.

Many were surprised over the summer when Adam Levine was not at Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's wedding, especially given how he's close with both the bride and groom. While appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' eponymous talk show on Dec. 6, Blake joked that the Maroon 5 singer never received the invite because of comments he made during a previous interview.

NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via

Earlier this year, Adam appeared on Ellen's show and humorously said that he would cause a ruckus at the wedding.

"That's the reason we didn't invite him to the wedding is that interview he did on your show," Blake laughed. "It's like, 'I'm not inviting him.'"

Adam further quipped in his past chat that he didn't support the union.

"She's so cool and he's not," he said. "I'll go to the wedding and I'll object. I probably won't be invited now that I'm saying this on live television. But I'll be there somehow."

FilmMagic

On Dec. 6, Ellen asked the country crooner if Adam would have been invited had he not opened his mouth, Blake said, "Well, we'll never know. I purposely did not invite Adam Levine to my wedding — and I think it's funny."

In the end, the wedding — which took place at Blake's ranch in in Mill Creek, Oklahoma — was a very intimate affair. Blake estimated that, including wedding staff, less than 30 people were there.

"It was awesome," he said. "It was exactly what it needed to be."

Nick Cannon's newborn dies from brain tumor

Nick Cannon is heartbroken after announcing that his youngest child, Zen Scott Cannon, has died from a brain tumor.

The "Masked Singer" host shared the devastating news on "The Nick Cannon Show" on Dec. 7. He also posted the news to Instagram.

Zen, born in June 2021, was only two months old when Nick and model Alyssa Scott, the baby's mother, noticed that his head seemed large. Plus, they thought he was dealing with a sinus issue because of "interesting breathing." After consulting with medical experts, a doctor said fluid had started to build up in Zen's head and a tumor was discovered, something that required immediate surgery.

Things, though, began getting worse around Thanksgiving.

"The process sped up," Nick said, "and the tumor began to grow a lot faster."

While tearfully addressing the death, Nick said he took his youngest son to the ocean in California last weekend for "quality time." Zen died shortly after.

Nick dedicated the show to his son.

Zen was Nick's seventh child and the fourth of Nick's children born within six months

Nick and Alyssa previously kept Zen's medical issues private.

After the death, Alyssa posted several videos of Zen to her Instagram Story.

Nick famously shares twins Moroccan and Monroe, 10, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; he shares 3-year-old son Golden and 11-month-old daughter Powerful Queen with model Brittany Bell; he shares 6-month-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa; and Nick and model Alyssa Scott welcomed son Zen on June 23 — just nine days after Zion and Zillion were born.

Chris Noth weighs in on longtime Sarah Jessica Parker-Kim Cattrall feud

Mr. Big has his woman's back!

Amid the fanfare about the "Sex and the City" sequel "And Just Like That…," Chris Noth is weighing in on the absence of Kim Cattrall, who was one of the main characters on the long-running HBO franchise, but isn't participating in the new series.

"I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I'm very close with [Sarah Jessica Parker] and [Kim's] descriptions of her don't even come close," Chris told The Guardian. "I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don't know what hers were."

Steve Sands/NewYorkNewswire/Bauer-Griffin/Shutterstock

Kim and SJP have been at odds for years, but the feud seemed to ascend to a new level of vitriol after Sarah publicly offered condolences to Kim on social media when her brother passed away in 2018.

"I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker," Kim wrote. "Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Chris bristles at the way the feud has played out.

"I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable," he said. "I just don't like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she's a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That's all I'll say about that."

Pink helps dying fan complete bucket list with Zoom call

Pink has made a terminally ill fan's dream come true.

Philadelphia native Diane Berberian, who has bone cancer and is in hospice care, had made it known that her dying wishes was to have a conversation with her hero, Pink. Through the power of social media, the "So What" singer heard of Diane's story and wanted to help her complete her bucket list.

Gael Colliguet/Shutterstock

Last month, Pink dialed up Diane and had a 30-minute Zoom conversation, some of which Diane posted to social media.

"THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO TRY AND MAKE CONNECTIONS… OUR DREAM CAME TRUE!!!!!" Diane captioned the video. "Pink sang 'We Are the Champions.' Will try to share later."

During the video, Diane shared her admiration for Pink, telling the singer that her music and fierce mentality is inspirational.

"You've made my day," Diane, a former marathon runner said. "I don't even know what's on my bucket list now, because you were so far at the top. All the other things started to happen so it's kinda like, 'Okay, I'll think of somethin' else!'"

Pink replied, "You have a kind of bravery that I don't understand. You're bringing comfort to other people while you're walking through this."

Diane also said she wakes up to Pink's music every day.

"Most of my days start with the song of the day and it's a Pink song usually," she shared. "When I race, it's always a Pink song."

Funnily enough, it was Diane who gave Pink advice at the end of the conversation.

"Don't give up," she said, "don't stop doing what you're doing!"

Pink replied, "Okay, I won't."

Michael Sheen to use all future career earnings to help homelessness, other social causes

Michael Sheen has dubbed himself a "not-for-profit actor," as he plans to dump all of his future earnings into social causes, including homelessness.

Lumeimages/Shutterstock

Proving his commitment, the "Frost/Nixon" actor reveals he even quietly sold two of his homes in 2019 to help fund the Homeless World Cup, which uses soccer to inspire the homeless to change their lives, according to the website.

"I had committed to helping to organize [the Homeless World Cup] and then suddenly, with not long to go, there was no money," he told the Big Issue for their Letter to My Younger Self. "I had to make a decision – I could walk away from it, and it wouldn't happen. And all those people from all around the world who were banking on coming to have this extraordinary experience, maybe a life-changing experience, wouldn't have it. I thought, I'm not going to let that happen."

The Homeless World Cup's website cites that 94 percent of players claim the tournament positively impacted their lives.

With this in mind, Michael couldn't let the lack of funding end the organization.

"I put all my money into keeping it going," he said. "I had a house in America and a house here and I put those up and just did whatever it took."

Tracey Paddison/Shutterstock

At the time, the "Good Omens" star had no idea how that would financially affect him personally.

"It was scary and incredibly stressful. And I'll be paying for it for a long time," he said. "But when I came out the other side I realized I could do this kind of thing and, if I can keep earning money it's not going to ruin me. There was something quite liberating about going, alright, I'll put large amounts of money into this or that, because I'll be able to earn it back again. I've essentially turned myself into a social enterprise, a not-for-profit actor."

Another eye-opening moment for Michael came after filming 2011's "The Passion" in Port Talbot, a small town in Wales, United Kingdom, which happens to be his hometown.

"That project involved the entire town and it was a big awakening for me. I got to know people and organizations within my hometown that I didn't know existed. Little groups who were trying to help young carers, who had just enough funding to make a tiny difference to a kid's life by putting on one night a week where they could get out and go bowling or watch a film and just be a kid," he said. "I would come back to visit three or four months later, and find out that funding had gone and that organization didn't exist any more. That stuff doesn't make the news but it makes a massive difference to kids' lives."

He continued, "I realized the difference between that child's life being a little bit better or not was ultimately a small amount of funding. And I wanted to help those people. I didn't just want to be a patron or a supportive voice, I wanted to actually do more than that. That's when I thought, I need to go back and live in Wales again."

David Fisher/Shutterstock

Michael has a reported net worth of $16 million.

"I've realized in the last few years that I want to be one of those people who help other people the way so many people helped me. I don't want to just be someone who enjoys the fruits of what other people have done and then pull the drawbridge up and go, well I'm alright Jack, I've had a nice time," he said. "I'm at the stage of my life and career where I have a window of opportunity that will probably never be this good again. I'm able to get people in a room, I can open doors. I don't want to look back and think, I could have done something with that platform. I could have done something with that money."
