Twitter claims victory after ABC forces live 'Bachelorette' audience to wear masks mid-show

"Bachelorette" producers were forced to scramble after social media users vented that a live audience was in studio watching the show's finale unmasked.

Suddenly mid-show the audience was masked, and Twitter claimed victory.

Christopher Willard/ABC

Reports said ABC producers had to provide masks for the audience, who watched the "After the Final Rose" event at a studio in Los Angeles. Twitter definitely noticed that difference in the audience, noting that attendees were all maskless when the show started, but suddenly masked in the middle of the show.

As the fervor grew, Kaitlyn Bristowe addressed the elephant in the room.

"We have seen a lot of chatter online, so just so we're clear, everyone around me has tested negative," she said after a commercial break in which masks were divvied out. "But just to exercise additional caution, our audience will remain masked throughout the rest of the show."

Although Twitter continued to skewer producers for not requiring masks through the duration of the show, many celebrated, crediting themselves for the changing the course of the show.

"Twitter really bullied the bachelorette into making the live audience put masks on," one person wrote afterward.

"LMAO did twitter force them to mask everyone in the room?!" another user wrote. Added another, "Twitter literally told the bachelorette live finale audience to put on masks and…. they did it. inspiring use of the internet."

Finally, someone triumphantly wrote, "Twitter!! We did it!! We made the whole audience have to wear masks."

'Orange Is The New Black' actress' parents mysteriously found dead

The parents of "Orange Is The New Black" actress Alicia Witt were found dead in their Massachusetts home, and police are investigating the mysterious case.

CraSH/imageSPACE/Shutterstock

After not hearing from her parents — Robert Witt, 87, and Diane Witt, 75 — Alicia asked a cousin to check on them.

"Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable," Alicia said in a statement. "I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss."

Police told Worcester Telegram & Gazette that there "was no trauma" and "no foul play." Firefighters, meanwhile, reportedly found no evidence of noxious gases, including carbon monoxide.

A neighbor told The Boston Herald that Alicia's parents rarely went outside and "had been ill for some time." Because of this, their home had fallen into a state of despair.

Autopsies are set to be conducted.

Alicia shot to fame in the mid-80s after starring in the original "Dune." She's appeared in a slew of shows, including "Twin Peaks," "The Sopranos," "Two and a Half Men" and "Friday Night Lights."

Bette Midler apologizes after dubbing this state 'poor, illiterate, strung out'

Bette Midler has issued an apology for her scorched earth tweets about West Virginia.

The singer's Twitter outburst came after Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, who represents West Virginia, announced that he would not vote for President Joe Biden's Build Back Better spending plan, effectively killing the legislation.

Gregory Pace/Shutterstock

"What #JoeManchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible," she tweeted. "He sold us out. He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate and strung out."

In the blink of an eye, Bette was torched on social media, as many (even those who agreed with her Manchin critique) accused her of stereotyping.

"We don't all check that stereotypical box. Just like I'm sure not all Manhattanites are short-sighted, egotistical, 'I'm better than everyone" a*******. Right?! You've lost a fan," one person said.

Others also blasted the "Wind Beneath My Wings" singer. As the social media temperature raised, Bette issued a mea culpa to The Mountain State, but not the Senator.

https://twitter.com/BetteMidler/status/1472964848875188226

"I apologize to the good people of WVA for my last outburst.  I'm just seeing red #JoeManchin and his whole family are a criminal enterprise," she wrote on Twitter. "Is he really the best WV has to offer its own citizens? Surely there's someone there who has the state's interests at heart, not his own!"

She later opined that Manchin "hasn't a shred of conscience."

Lala Kent 'wishes' someone would have 'warned' her about ex Randall Emmett

Lala Kent wishes she could turn back time.

Two months removed from her split from producer Randall Emmett, the "Vanderpump Rules" star ripped her ex, saying he's the "worst thing" that's ever happened to her.

MediaPunch/Shutterstock

"I have to understand how the worst thing to ever happen or come into my life, how did they give me the best thing to ever happen in my life?" she said, referring to their 9-month-old daughter, Ocean.

While on Dear Media's "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast with Amanda Hirsch, Lala was asked if she was ever "warned" about Randall.

"I wish that somebody would've come to me and said, 'I'm getting DMs about your person.' No one voiced any concern for me and my relationship," she said. "I would give everything to turn back the clock and have someone tell me something."

Lala called off her engagement to Randall in October amid cheating allegations.

"I think my head was completely in the sand," she said. "I think I ignored a lot of things that I probably shouldn't have, but I think I ignored them, because he's good at what he does."

Rob Latour/Shutterstock

Referring to images taken of Randall with two women in Nashville, she said, "I saw those pictures and I just knew, 'I'm going to do what I need to do to exit this relationship.'"

The duo were set to marry in April 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted those plans.

"I thank God and my [late] dad daily that I never married him," she said. "Just the thought of it sends me into a panic. If I would've gotten married, oh my God!"

Denise Richards ripped for wearing coat over her head rather than mask on airplane

Denise Richards is getting shredded online for eschewing health and safety COVID guidelines on an airplane, as she wore a winter coat over her head instead of a face mask.

PPE/SIPA/Shutterstock

In a photo posted to her Instagram Story over the weekend, the former "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star was unmasked while aboard the plane.

"Anyone that is upset that I [am] not wearing a mask. I'm hiding under a hoody [and] a huge winter coat. Please," she wrote alongside the image. She justified her post by arguing that her coat is "thicker than any mask!!!!!!"

It's believed that Denise was flying from Oklahoma to California, which has mask mandates in public spaces, especially due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Broadimage/Shutterstock

While Denise may have thought that her followers would applaud her coated face coverage, the exact opposite happened. Instead of her fans laughing with her, they were laughing at her, according to screen grabs from Daily Mail.

"You're a clown!" one person commented on Denise's Instagram.

"Wear a mask please," another said. "Private businesses have a right to set rules."

"Please consider the people around you instead of trying to buck the system. Your air-headed selfishness could kill someone on their way to cancer surgery or to see an ailing elderly relative. It isn't always about your personal beliefs or comfort," one person said. "You agreed to that before boarding the plane. Honor it. No one wants to die because you couldn't wait to take a selfie."

Denise was called "stupid" and "narcissistic," among many other things. Some fans even called for companies to stop partnering with celebrities flouting COVID recommendations and guidelines.

Bethenny Frankel's newest Instagram sparks false rumors that her engagement is off

Bethenny Frankel and fiancé Paul Bernon are on solid ground — regardless of what you may have heard.

On Dec. 21, the former "The Real Housewives of New York City" star posted a photo to Instagram that raised some eyebrows in regard to her relationship status. In the snap, Bethenny wears a sweater that refers to "Jingle Ladies," a play on words from Beyonce's 2008 song "Single Ladies."

"Shoutout to all my #jingleladies who can put their own ring on it….," she captioned the snap.

The Skinnygirl founder was not wearing her engagement ring in the image.

"Wait is she single?!?" one fan wondered.

"Oh noooo! You broke up with Paul?" another asked.

A slew of people wondered where her ring was, and others, assuming she was newly single, applauded her independence.

Matt Baron/Shutterstock

As rumors started flying, Bethenny took to her Instagram Story to combat the speculation.

@bethennyfrankel/Instagram

"I'm engaged to a wonderful man named Paul," she said. "I don't always wear my ring, I don't have to always wear my ring. Sometimes I don't feel that it's safe, sometimes my fingers swell or contract, but I'm doing me."

While condemning "irresponsible" media outlets for assuming she and Paul called things off, she held up her engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth $1 million. She also showed off another ring she and Paul bought together.

"It is my opinion that a relationship is about the two people in the relationship, the commitment and the feelings," she said. "It's not about announcements, not about pomp and circumstance, not about jewelry. It's symbolism and if I decide to wear an engagement toe ring, then so be it."

To be fair, not everyone thought the couple split, especially since she clearly donned her ring last week in a snap with her 11-year-old daughter, Bryn.

Ryan Reynolds gets mistaken for Ben Affleck, even answers J.Lo questions

A New York City pizza place has been calling Ryan Reynolds by the wrong name for years, and the actor has never corrected the staff.

The name he's called? Ben Affleck

While on the "Dear Hank and John podcast," Ryan told his hilarious story about mistaken identity, claiming he's been going to the same pizza place for a long time and he's past the point of no return in regard to letting staff know his true name.

"They believe I'm Ben Affleck and I've never corrected them. I feel it would not go over well if I revealed," he said. "I do everything normal like everybody else."

The pizza shop employees, Ryan said, are also quite invested in Ben's love life with Jennifer Lopez

"They just think I'm Ben Affleck and they'll ask how J.Lo is and I'm like, 'great, good,'" Ryan said.

As part of his strategy in continuing the charade, the "Red Notice" star doesn't linger long or get too verbose.

"I get the pizza and off I go," Ryan said.

The real-life 'The Bachelorette' twist no one saw coming

File this one under: "Huh?"

In one of the most dramatic plot twists in Bachelor Nation history, Hannah Brown's brother is engaged to the woman who was in a relationship with Jed Wyatt when he popped the question to her on season 15 of "The Bachelorette" in 2019.

"12.18.21 I said YES to forever with my best friend!!… and it was perfect!" Haley Stevens captioned a series of engagement photos with Patrick Brown on Dec. 19. "Thank you to everyone who made this day so special! And to my FIANCÉ, I love you!!"

"The Bachelorette" fans will recall that Haley was dating Jed, a singer-songwriter, before he went on the ABC show. On the season finale, Jed proposed to Hannah, and she said yes. However, as the season was airing, Haley alleged that she and Jed had been in a relationship and that he ghosted her for Hannah. Jed's lone defense was that Haley wasn't his "girlfriend," but she contended that the two had been on vacation together just before filming and had exchanged "I love you's."

"He told me [early on] that he had applied. He said, 'It's probably not going to happen, but it's a huge opportunity. I'm only doing this for my music,'" Haley told People magazine.

CraSH/imageSPACE/Shutterstock

Hannah eventually called things off with Jed while her season was still airing.

In her new book, "Bless This Mess," Hannah details her knowledge of Haley.

"Jed and I had talked about this girl a few times in between, and every time, his story changed a little bit. He knew this girl. They were friends. They had been to the Bahamas together, but just as friends. He had told her he loved her, but he was drunk at the time," she writes. "Hiding something in order to 'not hurt my feelings' is still untruthful. It's trying to have your cake and eat it too, and while it might benefit you in the short term, this is exactly the kind of behavior that ruins relationships. Forever."

Haley and Hannah's brother began dating earlier this year.

The former "Dancing With the Stars" winner wasn't on hand for her brother's big moment, though others in her family were.

Last month, Hannah touched on Patrick's romance with, you know, "the other woman."

"About his love life — I don't choose who my brother loves and who he wants to be with, but I love him and want him to be happy," Hannah said.

John Fleenor/ABC

After Haley and Patrick got engaged, Jed threw some shade her way, claiming "multiple tabloids" reached out to him for a statement about the engagement.

"I guess the only thing I have to state is more of a question: Does he know he's engaged?" Jed said.

Leonardo DiCaprio once jumped into frozen lake to save his dogs

Leonardo DiCaprio is a doggone hero.

In a never-before-told story, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that he dove into a frozen lake to rescue his two Huskies — Jack and Jill — while filming his newest movie, "Don't Look Up."

Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

"Basically, they both fell in a frozen lake," he said. "I didn't understand what you do in a frozen lake."

While explaining what happened during a sit-down with Entertainment Weekly's "Around the Table," Leo's co-star Jennifer Lawrence jumped in to help tell the tale.

"One of the dogs fell in, and he jumped into the frozen lake to save the dog," she said. "As soon as he pushed the one dog out of the pond, the other one jumped in."

Nodding along, Leo added, "Well, the other one started licking the one that was drowning, and then we all were in the frozen lake together." The dogs, which the film's director, Adam McKay, described as "absolute tornadoes," didn't understand the concept of a frozen lake because they live in California, Leo noted.

J-Law then interrupted with a spoiler alert.

"I'm sure you guys are all wondering, I was too, he immediately got naked in the car," she said.

Matt Baron/Shutterstock

While J-Law and Leo's banter is fun, she recently spoke of how miserable she was filming one particular scene opposite him and Timothée Chalamet.

"It was the most annoying day in my life. [Leo and Timothée] drove me crazy that day," she told  Stephen Colbert. "I don't know what it was. Timothée was just excited to be out of the house [after the pandemic lockdown]. I think it was, like, his first scene. And Leo had picked the song that was playing in the car and was just, like, 'You know, this song was about, you know, blah, blah, blah.' "

The Oscar-winning actress added, "I just remember being in absolute misery that day. It was hell."

Anti-vaxxer RFK Jr. blames 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' wife over holiday party's vax request

Robert F Kennedy Jr., a vocal anti-vaxxer for years, is possibly toeing the line of hypocrisy after a holiday party at his house recommended guests be vaccinated or test negative for COVID-19 before entering his California home.

However, amid reports of the party, RFK Jr. blamed his wife, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Cheryl Hines, for the situation.

MJ Photos/Shutterstock

"I guess I'm not always the boss at my own house," he told Politico on Dec. 17.

The guests were urged to use precautions that Robert has been railing against for almost two years.

While defending himself to Politico, Robert claimed the party was for Cheryl's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" cast mates and other entertainment industry folks. He also insisted that he never saw the e-vite invitation until the day of the party last week. Robert also said no one was verifying vaccination or test status upon entry into the house.

John Salangsang/Shutterstock

News of the vaccinated holiday party came just days after the Associated Press published a report about Robert's Children's Health Defense nonprofit, dubbing it "an anti-vaccine juggernaut." The organization more than doubled its revenue during the pandemic.

Last month, AP reported that RFK Jr. appeared at protests in Switzerland and Italy, and he urged people not to get vaccinated.

Interestingly, at an October premiere of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter said that every attendee was required to show not only proof of vaccination, but also a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours.

Cheryl was among the attendees.

Mistress comes clean about Tristan Thompson fling, and it's bad

On the heels of a legal win, Maralee Nichols, the woman who allegedly gave birth to Tristan Thompson's third child, is breaking her silence.

"Over the past couple of weeks, many inaccurate and false stories have been circulated about me. I have not at any point released—nor have I directed anyone else to release—any information regarding Tristan Thompson or any litigation involving him," she told E! News on Dec. 17. "I have never spoken to any media outlet, nor have I leaked any information to anyone at any time. I am providing this statement because I feel I must defend my character."

Brian To/Shutterstock

Earlier this month it was reported that Tristan was expecting his third child. While Tristan has his doubts that the child is his, he did admit in legal papers that he had sex with Maralee the evening of his 30th birthday in Texas, when he and Khloe Kardashian were still exclusively dating. While Maralee filed a paternity lawsuit against him in California, he filed one against her in Texas. Tristan's lawsuit was dismissed this week.

With the win in her back pocket, Maralee is attempting to correct reports connected to her pregnancy and fling.

"I have seen fake stories, unflattering photos of me, people using photos that are not even me, stating an incorrect occupation and age," she said. "There have been multiple fake Instagram posts claiming to be me, making false statements and attaching stock photos of a sonogram and a child (neither mine)."

"These are the facts: I have lived in California since 2019. I am not a personal trainer. I have not worked as a personal trainer for four years; I do fitness modeling. I was never a personal trainer for Tristan," she said, adding that she met Tristan at a party at his Encino, Calif., home in 2020, not in Houston as has been claimed.

"I saw Tristan in March 2021 around his birthday. He told me he had wanted to see me," she went on. "I agreed to meet him in Houston at a private party on March 12. I never drove a Maserati to meet Tristan, as he claimed. He has never even been in my vehicle. I used an Uber or was driven by friends that weekend. Houston was one of many nights we spent together. Soon after his birthday weekend in Houston, Tristan invited me to visit him in Boston."

Shortly after the Boston trip, she found out she was pregnant. Maralee then met up with Tristan in North Carolina in late April and told him about the pregnancy.

Maralee said she didn't want attention drawn to the pregnancy, nor did Tristan.

"Tristan filed a paternity action in Texas after I filed my paternity action in Los Angeles," she noted. "I did not file any request for child support before our child was born. The case that Tristan brought against me was dismissed on December 15, 2021."

"I was induced on November 29, 2021 because I had a placenta abnormality," she continued. "There is no other medical reason why I needed to be induced. I gave birth on December 1, 2021. Instead of focusing on any negativity, I am choosing to embrace being a mother and doing the best I can for my son. I do not want any further media attention, nor do I want a romantic relationship with Tristan. My goal is to raise our son in a safe, healthy, loving and private environment."

Shutterstock/Shutterstock

Remember, Tristan said the fling was a one-time deal, which she claims is categorically false. His court declarations also seem to counter that.

"Contrary to [Maralee's] many inferences in her declaration, we did not have a serious ongoing relationship," he said in court paperwork. "We saw each other sporadically between December 2020 and March 13, 2021 and did not have sexual intercourse in California during that time." Tristan, though, also said, "We might see each other on a sporadic basis for consensual casual sex only. From December 2020 through March 2021, we saw each other on such a basis."

"[Maralee] constantly used the term 'hook up' to describe our relationship which was the reality," he wrote. "I am certain that if the child is deemed to be my child that the only date of conception was March 13, 2021, because it was my birthday."

Khloe Kardashian flaunts rarely seen natural curls in new pic

Khloé Kardashian is letting her curly flag fly.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star showed off her washboard abs and rarely-seen natural curls in a new Instagram post on Dec. 17.

Khloe, donning a brown tank top and unbuttoned jeans, captioned the snap with a crown emoji, leaving her followers to do the commenting for her. Khloe's 203 million Instagram followers obliged, as her comment's section was deluged with fire and heart-eye emojis.

"That's some good hair," said Khadijah Haqq McCray, one of Khloe's best friends.

Kris Jenner said, "You are amazing my bunny!!!!!!"

Scott Disick called Khloe a "Fine American," a likely reference to her Good American company.

"Real Housewives" star liked that Khloe was "bringing the curls back for the people."

Matt Baron/Shutterstock

Hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimmons, who Khloe tagged in the series of snaps, wrote, "Loveeee working with your natural texture!!! We need more curly looks!!!!" He also reposted the the look, dubbing the hairstyle "Fantasy Curls."

"Curly has always been my favorite hair texture, so helping @khloekardashian embrace her natural hair texture has been suuuuuuper special for me as a hairstylist," he wrote.

Khloe's love life appears to be as untamed as her hair, thanks to her on-and-off boyfriend Tristan Thompson. The NBA player, who shares a 3-year-old daughter with Khloe, is currently involved in a paternity lawsuit with a personal trainer named Maralee Nichols. Maralee recently welcomed a child and claims Tristan is the father. Tristan has questioned the paternity of the child, but admitted in court papers that he and Maralee had sex on his 30th birthday, when he was still dating Khloe.
