A TV legend dead at 101: Stars remember the icon

The entertainment world is mourning the death of legendary TV writer and producer Norman Lear, who died on Dec. 5 of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles. He was 101.

A six-time Emmy Award winner whose celebrated shows included "All in the Family," "The Jeffersons," "Maude," "Good Times" and others tackled difficult social and political topics never before seen on primetime television, and he did so with grace, humor and a whole lot of heart.

"Norman lived a life of curiosity, tenacity and empathy," Norman's family said in a statement. "He deeply loved our country and spent a lifetime helping to preserve its founding ideals of justice and equality for all. He began his career in the earliest days of live television and discovered a passion for writing about the real lives of Americans, not a glossy ideal."

Entertainers across Hollywood and beyond are also praising Norman Lear's life and legacy in the wake of his death.

"Today is a very sad day," Jane Fonda wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Norman Lear, a man who meant a lot to many on a personal level and who changed the face and soul of American comedy, has passed. My heart is heavy. I loved Norman."

Stars who've lost siblings

Stars may seem to live a charmed life, but off screen, some have faced heartbreaking loss. Wonderwall.com is rounding up some of the stars who've had to bury their siblings…

In 1975, Kelsey Grammer's sister was brutally murdered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after working her shift at a Red Lobster restaurant. The "Frasier" star, who was 20 at the time, is still coming to terms with the traumatic events five decades later.

He opened up to People magazine in 2022 about what happened, sharing, "I've been writing a book actually about some of the past, and one sentence comes to mind. 'It was ancient grief that is forever fresh.' It's always with you."

It tragically wasn't the first loss he suffered either. In 1968 when Kelsey was just 13, his father was murdered and his two half brothers died in a suspected shark attack in 1980.

Though she's best known for her work in comedies, Sofia Vergara's real life has been marked by trauma. In 1998, her older brother, Rafael, was murdered in her native Colombia during an attempted kidnapping in Bogota. Since her family was successful, they were a target, and her brother was shot on a rare day he ventured out without his bodyguards. In the wake of the trauma, the actress left the country and settled down in Miami.

Sofia reflected on the pain as a judge on "America's Got Talent" in 2020, telling a contestant who'd also experienced loss, "My brother passed away the same year that your sister passed away. I can feel your pain; I know what this is. I know what it is to have somebody taken from you without you knowing."

Jennifer Hudson lost not only her brother but her mother and 7-year-old nephew in 2008.

The EGOT winner's family members were all murdered by her brother-in-law, William Balfour, who received a life sentence for his crimes. Jennifer reflected on the horrific experience to Glamour in 2015, sharing, "I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child" in the wake of the killings, the singer-actress said of welcoming son David Otunga Jr. a year after the murders amid her grief.

Luke Bryan knows the pain of losing not one but two siblings.

Older brother Chris Bryan died in a car accident in 1996 and sister Kelly died suddenly in 2007. The country music star also lost brother-in-law Ben — Kelly's husband — seven years later in 2014 after he suffered a heart attack. This led to a major change in Luke's life: He and his wife adopted his two nieces and nephew.

Luke opened up to People magazine about the adoptions the following year, sharing, "Obviously my nieces and nephew, they didn't ask for this. Their life was amazing before Caroline and I took a more prominent role, even after losing their mother. Now my focus is trying to do what we can to help them."

Comedian Chelsea Handler faced a horrible family tragedy in 1984.

While on a family trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the comedian older brother Chet fell off a cliff and died. In her 2019 memoir, "Life Will Be the Death of Me… and You Too," Chelsea explained that her brother had been "kind of my protector, kind of a father figure, a big brother, a crush, your first boyfriend."

Of the grief she felt, she noted, "You just feel broken… I dealt with it by just, if anybody talked about Chet or mentioned him, I'd just leave the room. I'd get on my bike, and I'd ride my bike for hours around the neighborhood. I could cry on my bike, but I wouldn't let anyone see me cry in person."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt lost older brother Dan Gordon-Levitt in 2010. Dan, who worked as an artist and teacher, died accidentally of "ketamine intoxication," the Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed to E! News and GQ.

In 2020, Joseph honored his brother on what would have been his 45th birthday 10 years after Dan's death, t weeting to request that anyone who knew him contribute art or a piece of writing in his honor.

Queen Latifah tragically lost brother Lance Owens Jr., a New Jersey police officer, in 1992 in an off-duty motorcycle accident.

The music star and actress honored her sibling 30 years later in an Instagram post, writing alongside a photo of them together, "To my brother Lance a.k.a. Winki my Pisces brother. We will always swim in eternity's energy I love you to Infinity. Happy birthday."

Kristin Cavallari's older brother Michael Cavallari went missing in 2015, his car abandoned on a Utah highway. He was found dead nearly two weeks later. It was eventually established that his death was accidental, with authorities revealing he passed away after suffering from hypothermia.

At the time, Kristin took to social media to share her thoughts on her family's tragic loss, writing in part on Instagram, "My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and you will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace."

Joaquin Phoenix, who followed in older brother River Phoenix's acting footsteps, was there when his sibling tragically passed away at 23 after suffering a drug overdose outside the Viper Room in Los Angeles in the early hours of Halloween in 1993.

Joaquin opened up about the tragedy on "60 Minutes" in 2020, revealing that he feels close to his brother thanks to their shared career path. "I feel like in virtually every movie that I made, there was a connection to River in some way. And I think that we've all felt his presence and guidance in our lives in numerous ways," the actor shared.

In 2019, One Direction star Louis Tomlinson's younger sister Felicite passed away.

The 18-year-old died from an accidental overdose of cocaine, Xanax and oxycodone, according to the London coroner.

The tragedy occurred just two years after the siblings lost their mother, Johannah Deakin, to cancer.

When he was just 7, "Southern Charm" star Austen Kroll's 9-year-old sister, Kyle, slipped and fell off a cliff during a family hike in North Carolina. Sadly, the family had just moved to Charlotte a few days earlier.

Olivia Flowers, who was romantically entangled with Austen Kroll on "Southern Charm" when she joining the cast, lost brother Conner in 2023 after a lengthy battle with Lyme disease that eventually led him to develop an addiction. His death was ruled as an accidental fentanyl overdose.

Olivia opened up about the loss to People magazine, sharing, "I wish you could have met him, because he was just the most amazing guy. My brother, he was very lively and loved bringing people together; he literally made friends everywhere we'd go. Even when we went on vacation, we'd go down the hotel lobby to get breakfast and he knew everyone by name. He was this 6-foot-5 beautiful guy who had the biggest heart."

"Southern Charm" star Taylor Ann Green lost a sibling in 2023 when her brother, Worth Green, passed away.

Taylor took to Instagram to mourn her brother, writing in part, "Not enough words can encapsulate who Worth was and the impact he left behind. June 8th, 2023 The Lord called you home. We are going to miss your goofiness, your bear hugs, and that infectious laugh. I will always admire the steadfast love you had for your family, friends (too many to count), your girlfriend and Jesus Christ. You truly went out on top of your game and we so look forward to seeing you again one day." His cause of death was not shared publicly.

On a 2023 episode of her "B**** Sesh" podcast, as reported by Variety, actress Casey Wilson shared a story about working with Tim Allen on an episode of his Disney+ series "The Santa Clauses," which is a sequel show to Tim's "The Santa Clause" movie franchise. She called it "the truly single worst experience I've ever had with a co-star ever," branding Tim "such a b****."

According to the "Saturday Night Live" and "Happy Endings" alum — who was initially reluctant to share the tale because one of the producers was a great friend and because her children loved the "Santa Clause" films — when she guest starred on the series' 2022 pilot episode, Tim was beyond rude. Casey claimed "everybody was walking on eggshells" around him. "People just looked frantic."

She recounted being in a scene with the Emmy-nominated "Home Improvement" actor where "I'm supposed to throw things at him. I think he's a burglar. So he's coming down the chimney, obviously as Santa, and I am woken up thinking there's an intruder, basically like a home invasion scene," she recalled. "[He] goes over to the producer who is standing four feet from me and goes, and I hear him, he goes, 'You gotta tell her to stop stepping on my lines.' The producer turns to me with horror on his face and has to walk one foot to me and he goes, 'Um, Tim would ask that you stop stepping on his lines.'"

When Tim was done shooting, "He was so f****** rude," Casey said. "Never made eye contact, never said anything. It was so uncomfortable." She also recalled his grand exit when he was done. "It's the end, and Tim Allen goes, 'Leaving!' [and] takes his Santa cape, picks it up and drops it on the floor and walks out," she recalled. "And they hustle in his stand-in; lovely man, who was much nicer to act against. People are scurrying to pick up his velvet Santa coat. He's a b****. And this is the best… I will not say who said this. This was someone that I do not know, perhaps in the crew. [He or she] breezes past me and just goes, 'You're seeing him on a good day.'"

Teresa Giudice's one-sided feud with Sofia Vergara goes back years. The "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star called the "Modern Family" actress the "rudest" celebrity she's ever met during an episode of her "Namaste B******" podcast. Some of Teresa's ire seems to stem from Sofia not knowing who the reality TV star was. Back in 2017, Sofia was reluctant to snap a pic with Teresa at a talk show. JoJo Siwa surprised fans when she publicly identified Candace Cameron Bure as the "rudest" celebrity she's come across. The situation stemmed from a red carpet moment in which Candace denied a then-11-year-old JoJo a picture. In an Instagram video, Candace said she felt "crummy" hearing the story and apologized numerous times for "breaking" the child star's heart. JoJo and Candace apparently hashed it out, but the "Full House" star felt there was a lesson to be learned. "Even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter and our actions matter," she said. "Be mindful of what we do post, even if it's meant to be innocent and fun at the time." Troubled singer's father has leg amputated amid family's recent reconciliation attempts

Following the October 2023 release of her explosive memoir, "The Woman In Me," Britney Spears has taken steps toward reconciling with her mom and sister. Meanwhile, father Jamie Spears' health has been in serious decline, leading to new speculation that Britney could finally make amends with her dad as well.

On Dec. 5, TMZ reported that Jamie's leg was amputated in November after a "massive infection in one" leg left him hospitalized for weeks.

"He had a knee replacement and got a terrible infection from it," a source from the Spears' hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, told Page Six. He reportedly underwent multiple surgeries without success before doctors turned to amputation as their last option. What that means for his troubled relationship with Britney, however, is unclear.

In her memoir, on Instagram and in previous courtroom testimony, Britney's repeatedly alleged that Jamie exploited and abused her during her controversial conservatorship. She's also accused her mom and sister of being complicit in much of that abuse. Now, amid indications she's rebuilding her relationships with her mom and sister, TMZ's sources claim Britney's "softened" towards her dad as his health has worsened. She "misses" Jamie, according to TMZ, and has even considered sending "him money to help him out."

TMZ also reported in December 2023 that Jamie Spears has "no ill will" toward daughter Britney Spears and "there's nothing he'd rather have" than a repaired relationship with her.

But other insiders aren't convinced that's in the cards.

For one thing, Britney is still engaged in a legal battle with her father regarding his handling of her finances during her 13-year-long conservatorship. According to court filings viewed by Page Six, Jamie siphoned approximately $6 million of Britney's money into his own coffers as payment for his conservator duties.

And while TMZ's sources say there's hope for a reconciliation, one insider tells Page Six that Britney will "never forgive [Jamie] for the abuses and trauma he caused."

Britney Spears has detailed a slew of claims about the conditions to which her dad, Jamie Spears, allegedly subjected her during her conservatorship since she first testified about it at a hearing in June 2021. She expanded on the claims in her 2023 memoir, writing, among other things, that her dad seemed to think she was "put on the earth for no other reason than to help their cash flow."

Elsewhere in the book, Britney claimed Jamie "repeatedly" criticized her weight, told her she was fat and restricted her food intake.

She's called him out on Instagram multiple times as well, wishing him a "SPECIAL HAPPY f*** you" at one point in 2022 when she was apparently feeling grateful for "not being a part of [his] slave treatment program" anymore.

As Jamie Spears battled health problems in the fall of 2023, Britney Spears' relationship with her mother, Lynne Spears, improved.

The pop star reconnected with Lynne while celebrating her 42nd birthday in Los Angeles in December, as evidenced by photos on social media showing the two snuggling on a couch together. According to TMZ, the two had started talking on the phone in recent weeks and Britney invited her mom to come see her for her birthday.

DailyMail.com also reported that Britney Spears' relationship with Lynne Spears is finally in a good place — not in spite of the singer's memoir, but because of it.

"It was the book," a source told the outlet in December. "Britney was able to get her feelings out and Lynne didn't try to negate those feelings. Lynne took ownership and she apologized. This was a huge turning point."

It seems things are changing for the better with Britney and her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, too.

"Britney is now reunited with those who mean the most to her in her family," DailyMail.com's insider said. "They have finally healed their wounds and are looking forward to the future with positivity.'

According to DailyMail.com, Britney Spears and mom Lynne Spears have worked together to rebuild their relationship after a series of fits and starts including Lynne's attempted apology on social media.

Earlier in 2023, Lynne flew to Los Angeles reportedly to see Britney and try to make some headway, but little seemed to come of that meeting.

"They both were ready for this and Britney wanted this," a source said of their recent get-together. "This was not a surprise on Britney in any way."

Another insider claimed the pair even discussed "having Britney come back home to Kentwood for a week or two so that she could spend time with her mom, just the two of them."

Britney Spears reportedly invited her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, to her December 2023 birthday celebration as well, though TMZ reported Jamie Lynn was already planning to be out of town that weekend.

The singer has repeatedly slammed her sister's alleged complicity in her conservatorship, calling the younger star out both on social media and in her 2023 memoir. Despite their past tensions, Jamie Lynn maintains her relationship with her sibling is A-OK.

"She's a good big sister, she is," Jamie Lynn said in November on "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here."

"I love her. Me and her throw down. The world's seen that. I've learned to stop talking about it publicly, but you know what? Families fight. Listen, we just do it better than most."

In her 2023 memoir "Counting the Cost," Jill Duggar Dillard wrote candidly about her religious upbringing in the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) faith as well as growing up on camera on her family's controversial TLC show "19 Kids and Counting," and its spinoffs. But new revelations about what she and her siblings have faced continue to surface.

In a November 2023 joint interview, Jill's husband Derick Dillard said that in the IBLP's "toxic culture," the family "hierarchy" values those who have more children above those who have fewer. According to Derick, Jill's parents, Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, have gone as far as saying, "whoever has the most kids gets the house."

Though Jill said her parents were "half-joking" at the time, her harrowing childbirth experience in 2017 left her with valid concerns about her fertility and her health.

In a November 2023 appearance on the "Ask Dr. Julie Hanks" podcast, Jill Duggar Dillard, 32, and Derick Dillard, 34, recalled Jill's concern about her ability to have more children after she and her second son, Samuel, nearly died in childbirth.

Jill's emotional and physical well-being were pushed to the limit by the experience, especially given the pressure she felt to have as many children as possible, as she detailed in her memoir, "Counting the Cost."

"In the book, I talk about the shift of going from feeling that pressure, being OK with having a lot of children, in that belief system that I grew up in … to then having the shift of being like, do I trust in God with the number of children that I'm supposed to have?" she said on the podcast. "[That] could also mean trusting him if he doesn't give us 20 kids."

She recalled wondering, "Am I being punished for my lack of desire of having 20 kids?" and "All those mind games that you play."

That's when Derick chimed in, recalling, among other things, the house offer his in-laws, Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, allegedly made. "Another toxic aspect of this culture," he said. "There's also a sense of hierarchy that you're less than if you have less kids."

As she first revealed in her memoir, Jill Duggar Dillard grew concerned about her fertility in 2017 after son Samuel's birth, which nearly killed her. The baby was born via emergency C-section after Jill suffered a potentially life-threatening uterine rupture. Samuel, meanwhile, was found to have bleeding in his brain and spent more than a week in the NICU.

Both mother and son eventually healed and, as Jill shared in her memoir, she followed doctors' orders and went on birth control, which is standard for 18 months after a C-section. Because of her family's faith, however, she did so in secret. Shaken by the whole experience, she also contacted a fertility specialist. On a November episode of the the "Ask Dr. Julie Hanks" podcast, Jill and her husband recalled telling her parents about the situation — as well as her dad's insensitive response.

"I don't think I'll be able to have any more kids," she recalled saying. "My Dad pipes up: 'We don't really know, do we know?' He's trying to control the situation."

Recalling Jim Bob's "frustrating" response, Derick added: "This idea still that he was a gatekeeper for our information. 'We don't know that yet. Let's be careful what we say to other people.'"

Jill suffered a miscarriage in 2021 before welcoming the couple's third child, Freddy, in 2022. (She and Derick's eldest son, Israel, was born in 2015.)

After Jill Duggar Dillard released her explosive memoir in September 2023, she told People magazine that she and her dad, Jim Bob Duggar, no longer have "one-on-one contact."

Asked to comment on their daughter's book, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared a lengthy statement with the outlet.

"We love all of our children very much," they wrote in part. "As with any family, few things are more painful than conflicts or problems among those you love. We've aimed to deal honorably with our children, our finances, and our other endeavors. While imperfect, it is our intent and desire to live a life that honors Christ. We do not believe the best way to resolve conflicts, facilitate forgiveness and reconciliation, or to communicate through difficulties is through the media or in a public forum so we will not comment."

As a quick refresher, the Duggar family, led by patriarch Jim Bob Duggar and his wife, Michelle Duggar, welcomed reality TV cameras into their daily lives in Tontitown, Arkansas, for seven seasons on what became "19 Kids and Counting." The popular TLC series underwent title changes as the family's brood grew to 19 grew over the course of those years before it was canceled amid a molestation scandal involving eldest son Josh Duggar.

The show focused on their ultra-conservative patriarchal Christian faith that follows the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), which holds that wives answer to their husbands and husbands answer to God.

The Duggar family's eldest child is Josh Duggar. He and wife Anna Keller Duggar share seven children: sons Marcus, Michael and Mason and daughters Mackynzie, Maryella, Meredith and Madyson.

Josh is currently serving more than 12 years in prison after being found guilty in 2021 of receiving and possessing child pornography. In 2015, it was reported that Josh had molested a number of underage girls, including four of his sisters, when he was a teen. "19 Kids and Counting" was canceled that year as a result.

Oscar winner reveals he couldn't walk after suffering a mysterious medical situation in his first public appearance since hospitalization

In his first public appearance since a mystery "medical complication" took him out of the public eye for months, Jamie Foxx shared new details about his health crisis while accepting a Critics Choice honor in Los Angeles on Dec. 4. As he picked up the Vanguard Award for his turn in "The Burial," the Oscar winner revealed that he couldn't even walk just a few months earlier.

"I want to thank everybody. I've been through something. I've been through some things," Jamie said at the Critics Choice Association's Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements.

"It's crazy, I couldn't do that six months ago. I couldn't actually walk too …. It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It's different," he continued, growing visibly emotional.

Jamie went on to detail the extent of his medical scare, telling the audience, "I wouldn't wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it's tough when you almost… When it's almost over, when you see the tunnel."

Things did seem grim for Jamie in April 2023 after he was hospitalized with what his family would only call a "medical complication." For months, those closest to the star kept a tight lid on his condition. Insiders told TMZ Jamie needed "all the prayers and well-wishes his fans can muster," while another media outlet reported the Oscar winner's family was "hoping for the best but preparing for the worst."

"I saw the tunnel. I didn't see the light!" Jamie Foxx said while reflecting on his near-death experience on Dec. 4.

"It was hot in that tunnel so I didn't know where I was going," continued as his speech took a lighter tone. "'S***, am I going to the right place?'" he joked. "I seen the devil goin 'C'mon, now.'"

After joking he knew some people "were saying I was cloned out there" as he started to recuperate, the actor thanked his sister and daughter for their help in keeping his medical condition private.

"Black people, when we almost die or go through something like that, there's two phrases, one of two phrases we say: 'Lord, have mercy, Jesus. Lord, have mercy, Jesus,'" he said with a smile.

"I want to say six months ago I couldn't fathom that this could happen or that I would be here," he continued. "But as I walk up here to this microphone and get this Vanguard Award, all I can say is 'Lord, have mercy, Jesus.'"

In April 2023, Jamie Foxx was rushed to the hospital while shooting a film with Cameron Diaz. The hospitalization had "a domino effect" for the movies and TV shows in which Jamie was involved, and all projects including the movie with Cameron were put on hold.

One month after the "medical complication," Jamie broke his silence but remained mum on what was ailing him.

The actor, though, has slowly but surely bounced back over the course of the year, resurfacing in ad campaigns and on vacation while cautiously promoting his film, "The Burial."

Because of Jamie Foxx's health issue, production of his upcoming Netflix film "Back in Action" was shut down and Nick Cannon subbed for him on his game show "Beat Shazam."

On May 3, the actor broke his silence on the still undisclosed "medical complication" that sent him to the hospital, sharing two posts on Instagram after weeks of silence. "Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed," he wrote. He also thanked Nick for swooping in to help with his show, writing in an Instagram Story, "Appreciate ya my boy @nickcannon," adding, "See u all soon."

Around that same time, Jamie's family was seen visiting him at a rehab facility that specializes in stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury rehab, spinal cord injury rehab and cancer rehabilitation.

Jamie Foxx was seen relaxing and waving at fans on a boat in the Chicago River on July 9 — the first time he'd been seen in public since his hospitalization. "Boat life [fox emoji] Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn Stay blessed!" he tweeted afterward.

One day prior, Jamie also got in some swings at a local Topgolf driving range — and his swing was reportedly "strong," a source told TMZ. "He was walking regular, not dragging his leg. His arm movements were definitely good. He was just regular Jamie," the source added.

The reemergence of Jamie Foxx continued on July 22 when he posted an Instagram picture of himself atop a gold race car outside a Las Vegas hotel. The photo was meant to promote online sports betting company BetMGM and the F1 Grand Prix, which takes place in Vegas in November.

"Thankful for my @betmgm family and a great few nights in Vegas. We got BIG things coming soon," he tweeted. A photographer later commented on the post, writing, "As always it was a great experience working with you the last 2 days." Other sources involved in the photo shoot said Jamie didn't miss a beat.

The Oscar winner also attended the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami, where he partied with Meek Mill and LeBron James.

Clearly, his health was improving and his career was nowhere near the finish line.

Jamie Foxx spoke about how "thankful" he was in August while seeming to make reference to his health crisis. "Finally startin to feel like myself… it's been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light," he wrote on Instagram. "I'm thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers… I have a lot of people to thank… u just don't know how much it meant… I will be thanking all of you personally… and if you didn't know… GOD IS GOOD… all day every day." Jamie said he was "back and better" and "back in the driver's seat."

He later added, "Crisis does not create character… it reveals it."

Jamie Foxx's recovery took him south of the border with his lady love several times in September. Over Labor Day weekend, the "Ray" star was photographed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with his girlfriend, Alyce Huckstepp. Jamie appeared happy and healthy while holding hands with Alyce. The couple returned to Cabo a few weeks later. A witness told TMZ that Jamie and Alyce seemed "very happy" and looked smitten with each other.

Amid dire speculation about his health in May, Jamie Foxx's daughter Corinne said that her dad was "well." She even claimed he'd recently played pickleball. She was probably telling the truth: In late September, the Oscar winner appeared in a video with YouTuber David Dobrik on a pickleball court.

"Hey, yo, we the new duo," he told the camera. He later challenged professional pickleball player Tyson McGuffin to a match. "Come on, baby, we good right now," Jamie said.

Although Jamie Foxx has kept the details of his medical problem under wraps, he reportedly opened up to colleagues about what was going on.

In September, actor Kristen Radford Thom was asked about working with the star on a commercial for BetMGM.

"One of my favorite actors, and he was kind and humble and hilarious — all wrapped up in a ball of energy!" she told People of the experience.

"As private as he is, he was pretty open to our table about his situation without telling us exactly what happened," she added. "He was funny. His improv abilities are unmatched. The entire set was laughing at his jokes."

Pamela Anderson continued her commitment to not wearing makeup as she attended The Fashion Awards at Royal Albert Hall in London on Dec. 4.

Early in her career, she didn't have much say in her beauty choices, the former "Baywatch" star and Playboy Playmate told ELLE in an August 2023 interview. "I just went along with what people were telling me what to do," she said.

After her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, died from breast cancer in 2019, Pamela stepped away from what had become her signature ultra-glam look. "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup," Pamela said.

Her new barely there makeup look has been "freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too," she added, "because I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it's just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite [of] what everyone's doing."

Pam has also found humor in it. "I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older," she said. "And I'm kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, 'Wow, this is really… what's happening to me?' It's a journey."

But it's one she's embracing. "I feel rooted for. I feel good," she said. "I'm in a good place."

A dressed-down Billie Lourd — late "Star Wars" icon Carrie Fisher's only child — sported a bathrobe and sneakers during a coffee run in Los Angeles on Oct. 10. She also went without makeup and wore her hair unstyled with a simple part down the middle.

Billie — her father is famed talent agent Bryan Lourd and her maternal grandparents were actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher — currently stars on "American Horror Story: Delicate," the 12th installment in the long-running anthology series. The "High School Musical" alum — who heads the Being Frenshe beauty and wellness line for Target — has had a rough go of it lately: A woman is suing her over her involvement in a 2022 car accident that allegedly left the other woman badly injured. She's now seeking $600K in compensation from the actress, who hasn't appeared on camera since her stint on the short-lived CBS sitcom "Carol's Second Act" came to an end in early 2020.

Tiffani Thiessen went makeup-free as she grabbed some coffees from a Starbucks in Los Angeles on Aug. 10.

On an episode of the "Good Instincts" podcast that aired one day after her caffeine run, the "Saved By the Bell" and "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum — who turns 50 in 2024 — opened up about getting older.

"When I was turning 40, I felt like I had more personal pressure on myself to look the best I could," she said, but "at [almost] 50, I feel very confident in knowing that I'm doing the best I can. I'm trying [to be an example of] a good sense of self to show my daughter that I take care of myself, I go to the gym. … I feel so much more at ease now than I did 10 years ago." She added that she's made peace with aging either because it's "me not giving a s*** or it's just me growing up." Though she understands that "yes, I think people will say things, you know … and maybe expect me to look a certain way, yes, but I mean, it's just not realistic. I can only age the way I'm going to age, right?"

According to Tiffani, "I'm taking care of myself and doing things that I know will benefit the outside exterior of myself … but, yeah, those people don't know what's happening on the inside, right? [That's] important because that's what actually helps the outside."

A makeup-free Gwyneth Paltrow revealed she's going gray when she stepped out for dinner with friends and family at Mr Chow in Beverly Hills on Aug. 27.

During an interview with British Vogue that debuted online the previous month, the Oscar winner — who turned 50 in 2022 — decried the pressure society puts on women to maintain a youthful appearance: "I think it's culture's problem. It's not ours!" she said. "As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be aging. This idea that we're supposed to be frozen in time is so weird. … think we want to be setting examples of how you can age."

Jana Kramer — a "One Tree Hill" alum-turned-country music singer — marked her milestone 40th birthday on Dec. 2. Just a few weeks prior to the milestone celebration, Jana welcomed her third child, Roman James Russell, with fiance Allan Russell, and later revealed the baby was intended to be born on her birthday.

She took to Instagram with a photo of her family of five on the big day, writing, "Anyone that has known me since I was 30 has known about my 40th birthday plans. It was one of the many things I wouldn't shut up about 😂 But like they say, you make plans and God just laughs at them. When we found out Roman's due date was my birthday i knew all along God had a way better plan than I could have ever dreamt of. This was exactly how this was always supposed to look and I wouldn't trade it for anything or any beach in the world. I'm home, with my family… The biggest Unanswered prayer of a gift for my 40th."

Former WWE sensations, "Total Bellas" stars and twin sisters Nikki Bella and Brie Bella — who now go by their birth names, Nikki and Brie Garcia — celebrated their 40th birthdays on Nov. 21.

The siblings weren't together on their birthday but celebrated with each other a few days later. "We're having a two-month birthday season," Nikki told People magazine.

Brie — who marked her 40th in Arizona with husband Bryan Danielson and her friends and family there ahead of Thanksgiving — said she and Nikki were planning to go wine tasting together after the November holiday and later take a trip to Italy's Lake Como.

Disgraced politician George Santos delivers message to Congress after history-making ouster: Lawmakers and stars react

For just the sixth time in U.S. history, a sitting member of the House of Representatives was expelled. On Dec. 1, 2023, the House voted overwhelmingly (311-114) to oust embattled New York Congressman George Santos for alleged finance crimes.

Since being sworn in in January 2023, the politician has been mired in controversy, much of which was tied to blatant lies about his past. The Republican even admitted to lying about his professional and educational background. Earlier in 2023, he was hit with a 23-count federal indictment for a variety of theft and fraud charges involving his congressional campaign. He has pleaded not guilty.

After getting the Congressional boot, George told CNN, "To hell with this place."

Weeks earlier, a Republican-led panel concluded that the now-former lawmaker "blatantly stole from his campaign" and spent donors' money shopping at places like Ferragamo and Hermes, getting Botox and visiting the adult website OnlyFans.com, CNBC reported.

These days, Peter Billingsley works primarily as a film and television producer. After "A Christmas Story," he maintained a steady but low-key on-screen presence in Hollywood, appearing in smaller movies or doing guest spots on TV shows like "Punky Brewster" and "The Wonder Years" before shifting to behind-the-scenes work. In 2005, he popped up in "Elf," produced the fantasy children's film "Zathura: A Space Adventure" and scored an Emmy nomination for outstanding nonfiction series for a show he produced called "Dinner for Five."

Over the next few years, he both produced and appeared in movies including "The Break-Up," "Iron Man" and "Four Christmases" and directed "Couples Retreat." In 2019, Peter popped up in his "Iron Man" role (a Stark Industries scientist) in "Spider-Man: Far From Home."

In November 2022, Peter returned to his roots as he reprised the role of Ralphie in HBO Max's "A Christmas Story" sequel, "A Christmas Story Christmas."

Macaulay Culkin starred as Kevin — a young boy accidentally left behind by his family during the holidays — in the 1990 Christmas comedy "Home Alone" and its 1992 sequel, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York."

Following his Golden Globe-nominated performance in "Home Alone," Macaulay Culkin became an overnight sensation, landing roles in films like "My Girl," "Ri¢hie Ri¢h" and more all within four years of the film's debut. He also struck up a long friendship with pop icon Michael Jackson after appearing in his "Black or White" music video and later became godfather to MJ's daughter, Paris Jackson.

Behind the scenes, Macaulay was struggling with child stardom: He claimed he suffered "mental and physical abuse" at the hands of his father, Kit Culkin, whom he accused of pressuring him to work from a young age. Following his parents' 1994 divorce, Macaulay took a break from Hollywood and in 1995 sued his parents for control of his more than $17 million fortune. At 15, he became legally emancipated.

Macaulay returned to the big screen in 2003 with "Party Animals" followed by 2004's "Saved!" More recently, he's appeared on TV shows like "Robot Chicken," "The Jim Gaffigan Show" and ":DRYVRS." In 2019, Macaulay — who split from Mila Kunis in 2010 after about seven years of dating — teamed up with friends Seth Green and Breckin Meyer to film the comedy "Changeland" and appeared on the Hulu series "Dollface." In 2021, he appeared on the 10th season of "American Horror Story," and in 2022, he had a two-episode stint on "The Righteous Gemstones."

Since 2017, he's been in a serious relationship with actress Brenda Song; their engagement was confirmed in 2022. They became first-time parents in 2021 with the birth of son Dakota, who's named after Macaulay's late sister, and added son Carson to the family in 2023. In 2023, Macaulay received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Taylor Momsen, who was just 7 at the time, starred as Cindy Lou Who — the adorable child from Whoville who manages to teach the Grinch a thing or two about holiday spirit — in the 2000 live-action adaptation of the Dr. Seuss holiday story "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

After starring as Cindy Lou Who in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," Taylor Momsen appeared in films like "Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams" and "We Were Soldiers" before landing her other most notable role: Jenny Humphrey on "Gossip Girl."

In 2009 — two years after she made her debut on the hit TV show — she formed the rock band The Pretty Reckless. The following year, they released their debut studio album, which reached No. 10 on Billboard's alternative chart, giving Taylor the courage to pursue music full-time. In 2011, she left "Gossip Girl" to work on her band's second EP — though she did briefly return to the Upper East Side for the 2012 series finale.

The Pretty Reckless released their sophomore album, "Going to Hell," in 2014. They've dropped two more albums since then: 2016's "Who You Selling For" and 2021's "Death by Rock and Roll."

Young Thomas Brodie-Sangster starred as Sam — a boy left in the care of his stepfather (Liam Neeson) following the death of his mother — in the 2003 romantic holiday dramedy "Love Actually." (The duo bond over Sam's major crush on one of his classmates.)

Following his feature film debut in "Love Actually," Thomas Brodie-Sangster turned up in popular films like "Nanny McPhee," "Tristan + Isolde" and "The Last Legion." Then from 2007 to 2015, he voiced Ferb in the "Phineas and Ferb" franchise. He also starred in the "Maze Runner" trilogy, had a memorable stint as Jojen Reed on "Game of Thrones" and scored an Emmy nomination in 2021 for his work on "The Queen's Gambit." In 2022, he portrayed the Sex Pistols' famed manager and promoter, Malcolm McLaren, on the "Pistol" miniseries. In 2023, his Hulu series "The Artful Dodger" debuted — he stars as titular character Jack Dawkins.

After dating model, photographer and Instagram star Gzi Wisdom for years, Thomas coupled up with "Pistol" co-star Talulah Riley — who was previously married to Elon Musk (twice!) — in 2021. They announced their engagement in 2023.

In 1994, a young Eric Lloyd starred as Charlie Calvin alongside Tim Allen as Scott Calvin in the Christmas comedy "The Santa Clause." He returned to the role in two sequels and is reportedly set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ miniseries "The Santa Clauses."

After "The Santa Clause," Eric Lloyd headlined "Dunston Checks In," portrayed a young Bruce Wayne in "Batman & Robin" and starred on the short-lived sitcom "Jesse." He's only appeared on camera a handful of times since 2006's "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause," though he's reportedly set to pop up in the upcoming Disney+ miniseries "The Santa Clauses." After he earned a degree in film production from Chapman University, Eric launched his own production company, Lloyd Production Studios. He now works primarily in post production — specifically as a sound designer and mixer — on various film, television and music projects. He also sings and plays guitar for the band Radiomason and has a long-term girlfriend.

An adorable Mara Wilson starred as Santa-denier Susan Walker in the 1994 remake of the 1947 holiday classic "Miracle on 34th Street."

After Mara Wilson starred in "Miracle on 34th Street," she took on the title role in "Matilda," headlined "A Simple Wish" — which debuted a year after her mother, Suzie Wilson, died of breast cancer — and appeared in 2000's "Thomas and the Magic Railroad."

She then put her acting career on hold for more than a decade. During her time away from the limelight, Mara dealt with anxiety and OCD — diagnoses she openly spoke about in 2018 — and studied writing at New York University. She returned to acting with a 2011 short film. She then popped up on an episode of "Broad City" and worked as a voice actress on "BoJack Horseman," "Big Hero 6: The Series" the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast, and more recently, "Ollie & Scoops."

In 2016, Mara publicly came out as bisexual and published a memoir, "Where Am I Now? True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame." In 2021, she made headlines for defending and empathizing with Britney Spears in an op-ed for The New York Times: "The Lies Hollywood Tells About Little Girls." In 2023, Mara opened up to The Guardian about her time as a child star, revealing how the press attention affected her and how she was sexualized despite only appearing in children's movies.

In the 1989 holiday comedy "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki starred as Audrey and Rusty Griswold — two kids in the midst of adolescent angst during their drama-filled holiday break with their parents (Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo).

Two years after Juliette Lewis starred in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," she appeared in Martin Scorsese's "Cape Fear" and earned her first Oscar nomination for her efforts. At the height of her popularity, Natalie married her Hollywood crush, actor Robert Wagner. They divorced in 1962 following just five years of marriage, and she went on to marry British filmmaker Richard Gregson, with whom she welcomed daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner. After they divorced, Natalie and Robert reconnected. They soon remarried and welcomed a daughter, Courtney Brooke Wagner. In 1981, Natalie drowned off the coast of California's Catalina Island, where she'd been vacationing with Robert and actor Christopher Walken aboard her then-husband's yacht. (Christopher co-starred with Natalie in her final film: "Brainstorm," which debuted in 1983.) The circumstances of her death remain murky, but Robert — who was branded a person of interest by investigators in 2018 — has long denied any wrongdoing.

Troubled TV star marks a sobriety milestone, gets encouragement from movie star following rehab runaways

After years of troubling behavior and multiple rehab stints, Bam Margera is now sober and thriving.

According to a Dec. 1 report, the former prankster recently celebrated four months of sobriety. The onetime MTV star is even skateboarding again and has lost a significant amount of weight since getting clean. "He's been loving getting back into the sport," TMZ reported.

He even got a shoutout from a major A-list star.

TMZ reported that Bam Margera has been living on a farm outside of Philadelphia with his girlfriend, Dannii, who's on the same page about staying healthy. They reportedly share daily workouts at the gym and often hike with their dogs.

According to TMZ, despite friends and family imploring him to ditch the bottle for years, this is the first time Bam has actually wanted to get sober and hasn't felt like he was being forced to go through an intervention.

Bam noted on social media that he's wearing an alcohol detection bracelet, which stems from an Aug. 9 arrest in Pennsylvania for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

In late November 2023, Bam Margera went to Texas to work on a movie and develop new artwork for a clothing company, TMZ reported.

He's also been working out daily and recently got his sweat on at a gym owned by Jarred Taylor, one of the founders of the Black Rifle Coffee Company.

Jarred worked with Mark Wahlberg on "Lone Survivor."

On Dec. 1, 2023, Bam Margera's sobriety got public support from Mark Wahlberg.

"Bam, what's up brother," Mark said in an Instagram video. "So happy for you and your sobriety. 120 days. God bless you, bro. Hope you and your family are well and I look forward to connecting with you soon. Always been such a big fan and look forward to seeing you."

According to TMZ, Bam recently got cleared to see his son, Phoenix, and will soon head to California to see his only child. Las Vegas, where Mark lives, is on the way, and it's highly conceivable the two could connect in person.

In his sobriety journey, Bam Margera, 44, had a choice to make: booze or his girlfriend, Dannii. TMZ reported that Dannii gave Bam "an ultimatum," and he ultimately chose her.

On Sept. 22, the reality TV star paid tribute to Dannii for helping him maintain his sobriety: "Thanks to @danniimarieofficial for one month of sobriety and getting me happy, healthy and fit as well as the small circle of friends that have supported us," he wrote.

He went on thank a slew of the other positive influences in his life.

Now that he's sober, Bam Margera is also working on his relationship with his 5-year-old son, Phoenix. The two reportedly speak on FaceTime four times a week.

Over the summer, Bam was caught on camera screaming at his ex-wife, Nicole Boyd, for refusing to let him see their son. Bam noted that if he couldn't see Phoenix, he would "smoke crack until [he] died."

It's believed that Phoenix lives in Los Angeles with his mother. The former reality TV star was forbidden from leaving Pennsylvania until his assault trial — which stems from an April incident with his brother Jess — was over.

Bam Margera's substance abuse issues have been well-documented over the years. He's been in and out of rehab several times. In June, he was placed on a psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles mental health facility after authorities determined that he was a danger to himself and others.

After the involuntary hold came to an end, Bam headed straight to a rehab center owned by former Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom. TMZ reported that Lamar greeted the former TV star upon his release from the mental health center. But after about a week at the Odom Wellness Treatment Center, Bam suddenly left — as he has before.

In June 2022, Bam fled a Florida rehab facility. Two days later, he was found hiding out at a nearby hotel. Police and a crisis intervention team then transported him back to the facility.

Felicity breaks her silence

Four years after she served 11 days in prison for fraud, Felicity Huffman is speaking out for the first time about her role in the college admissions scandal, telling KABC-7 "Eyewitness News" she wasn't "looking for a way to cheat the system" when she paid $15,000 to have her daughter's SAT score falsified.

"It felt like I had to give my daughter a chance at a future. And so it was sort of like my daughter's future, which meant I had to break the law," she said in the interview, which aired Nov. 30.

Felicity was arrested in 2019, along with dozens of other wealthy parents who used fraudulent means to get their kids into elite colleges like USC and Yale. She ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest service fraud.

Like actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli, who were also convicted in the scandal, Felicity was working with college admissions counselor William "Rick" Springer when she participated in the fraud. In the interview, she said he'd been "highly recommended" and she "trusted him implicitly" after they'd worked together for a while.

"People assume that I went into this looking for a way to cheat the system and making proverbial criminal deals in back alleys, but that was not the case," she explained, adding that Rick "recommended programs and tutors and he was the expert." In fact, he was arranging for lots of parents across the country to commit lots of fraud in exchange for millions of dollars.

"After a year, he started to say, 'Your daughter is not going to get into any of the colleges that she wants to.' And I believed him," she recalled.

In January 2023, Rick was sentenced to more than three years in prison and ordered to pay more than $19 million after pleading guilty to a range of charges including conspiracy to commit racketeering and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Arrest redux

"When he slowly started to present the criminal scheme, it seemed like — and I know this seems crazy at the time — that that was my only option to give my daughter a future," Felicity Huffman said of Rick Springer. "I know hindsight is 20/20 but it felt like I would be a bad mother if I didn't do it. So, I did it."

The actress, whose husband, actor William H. Macy, was not charged, also recounted the day of her arrest, telling "Eyewitness News" she thought it was some kind of prank.

"They woke my daughters up at gunpoint — again, nothing new to the Black and brown community," she recalled. "Then they put my hands behind my back and handcuffed me and I asked if I could get dressed. I thought it was a hoax. I literally turned to one of the FBI people, in a flak jacket and a gun, and I went, 'Is this a joke?'"

The star was ultimately sentenced to 14 days in federal prison, fined $30,000 and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service. According to USA Today, daughter, Sophia, 23, retook the SAT test, reapplied to college and is now studying drama at Carnegie Mellon.

Rumor fix

Rumors suggesting Taylor Swift married her now ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, are not only untrue, they're "insane," according to the singer's publicist, who slammed the Instagram gossip account DeuxMoi on Twitter this week.

A recent Deuxmoi post claimed Taylor and Joe, who announced their split in April 2023, had a wedding "ceremony in either 2020 or 2021 in the U.K.," adding that "it was described to me as a 'marriage' by more than one person. It was NEVER made legal." The post also vowed, "I will die on this hill! Put it on my tombstone! I have no reason to lie, I could give a s***."

On Nov. 30, Taylor's longtime PR manager, Tree Paine, made the rare move of replying to the post on X (formerly Twitter). "Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi," she wrote. "There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It's time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these."

Although Taylor has clearly moved on from Joe with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, her fans have continued to buzz about the timeline of her split from Joe, with some speculating that certain lyrics on her "Midnights" album suggest she and Joe broke up long before April.

Pickleball gone wrong

Michelle Pfeiffer was sporting quite the shiner on Dec. 1 after a game of pickleball apparently went awry. "WARNING ⚠️ Pickleball-Stay out of the Kitchen!! 😫 Thank you, Less! 🤣," the actress captioned a series of selfies on Instagram showing off her black eye. In the first shot, Michelle, 60, is sitting on a court holding a giant bag of ice against her face while glaring at the camera. The second snap shows a more cheerful version of the star, while the third gives followers a close-up peek at her injury.

"Ouch!" Michelle's pal Naomi Watts commiserated in the comments.

"That's why I don't play," wrote Julianne Moore.

Michelle's sister, DeDee Pfeiffer, meanwhile, chimed in to share that her sib "kept on playing" despite the injury, to which Michelle replied, "life is sweeter with risk."

Rom-com revamp

"Pretty Woman," the wildly successful 1990 rom-com starring Julie Roberts as a prostitute who finds love on the job with a corporate raider (Richard Gere), was not intended to have a happy, Hollywood ending.

"It was going to be a much darker film called 'Three Thousand,'" Julia said on the Dec. 1 edition of the "The Graham Norton Show," according to the Daily Mail. The title referred to the price Julia's character, Vivian, charged Edward for one night together. In the original screenplay, Vivian was a bit different from the adorable, goofy-but-smart character moviegoers fell in love with.

"Vivian was a drug addict and the movie ended with him leaving her in a side street, throwing the money at her and driving away," Julia said. "I got that part in that movie and felt really proud, but when the production company folded and the film disappeared I was crushed. But then Disney picked it up, which seemed so unlikely, and made it funny."

The revamp worked: Soon after its release, "Pretty Woman" became the fourth highest grossing film of all time, worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. It also earned Julia a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination and arguably launched her career.

The actress, 56, currently stars in Sam Esmail's new psychological thriller, "Leave the World Behind," on Netflix.

Conviction upheld

On Dec. 1, an Illinois court upheld "Empire" star Jussie Smollett's conviction stemming from a 2019 hate crime he was found guilty of staging against himself, People reported. The actor, who is Black and gay, told police in 2019 he'd been violently attacked by men yelling racist and homophobic slurs. The men later claimed Jussie had paid them to stage the assault. In 2021, the actor was convicted on five felony counts of disorderly conduct for lying to police about the incident, but the case has gone through the courts multiple times, including one round involving an indictment by a special grand jury, which he tried to have dismissed, according to documents viewed by People. In 2022, he was sentenced to 150 days behind bars, but was released pending his appeal.

Britney famously took the stage in a bralette, low-rise short shorts with scarves attached to her bedazzled belt and knee-high crystal-adorned boots. The real star of the show, however, was that other accessory: an albino Burmese python named Banana that she carried across her shoulders.

"The plan was for me to sing 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' and we decided I would use a snake as a prop. It's become an iconic moment in VMAs history, but it was even more terrifying than it appeared," she wrote. "All I knew was to look down, because I felt if I looked up and caught its eye, it would kill me."

"In my head I was saying, 'Just perform, just use your legs and perform.' But what nobody knows is that as I was singing, the snake brought its head right around to my face, right up to me, and started hissing," she continues. "I was thinking, 'Are you f******* serious right now? The f****** godd*** snake's tongue is flicking out at me. Right. Now. Finally, I got to the part where I handed it back, thank God."

Somehow, she managed to avoid broadcasting her terror to the millions of viewers watching from home, cementing this look as one of the all-time greatest performance ensembles in award show history.

Trump to-be?

On Nov. 29, multiple outlets reported Sebastian Stan, who played Pamela Anderson's then-husband Tommy Lee in Hulu's "Pam & Tommy," has been cast as a young Donald Trump in an upcoming movie from Ali Abbasi dubbed "The Apprentice."

According to Deadline, "The Apprentice" is "an exploration of power and ambition, set in a world of corruption and deceit." The film focuses on "Trump's efforts to build his real estate business in New York in the '70s and '80s," and "his relationship with infamous attorney Roy Cohn," according to the logline. "Borat 2" star Maria Bakalova will reportedly play Ivana Trump, while Emmy Award-winning "Succession" star Jeremy Strong is said to have signed on to play Roy Cohn, though no casting details have been confirmed.

"It's a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty," the juicy blurb teases. "Filled with larger than life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers."

News of the production comes amid the former president's civil fraud trial in New York City.

Death threat reveal

While filming "Full House" in the '90s, John Stamos and Jodie Sweetin both got death threats — and they were serious enough that John ended up with FBI agents as his security. The actors opened up about their bizarre experiences recently on Jodie and Andrea Barber's "How Rude, Tanneritos!" podcast.

Recalling how security made the then-"unheard of" decision to install metal detectors before a live taping once, Jodie said (People), "I could feel like this nervous energy all throughout backstage. And then right before you went out for your intro, John, you did the sign of the cross. And then I think it was Bob [Saget], maybe Dave [Coulier] … who leaned over to you and said, 'Can I have your parking spot?'"

According to John, it turned out a "deranged" fan had surfaced across the street from the set demanding to know where John was, telling one woman, "because I'm going to kill him." After that, John said an "FBI agent" was assigned to stick to him like glue for "24 hours a day."

Jodie, meanwhile, said she got death threats from men behind bars when she was a child star on the show.

System scammers

"We scammed the system!" That's how Kim Kardashian jokingly summed up her family's success on the Season 4 finale of "The Kardashians." The November 2023 episode features the famous family celebrating Scott Disick's 40th birthday when Kim thanked him for "supporting me through thick and thin.

He then reminded her she was once "on the cover of Dog Fancy," — it was apparently K9 Magazine, but who's counting — to which Kim replied, "Anything for a cover!" Looking around at her family, she added, "Guys, we scammed the system. We did it! Whatever it is, we figured it out and did it! We put in some hard work."

"Keeping Up With the Kardashians" aired for 20 seasons on E! after Kris Jenner pitched the show amid Kim's growing notoriety, thanks to a friendship with Paris Hilton and a leaked sex tape. Relaunched as "The Kardashians," the show later found a home on Hulu.

"Scott's my motivator," Kim told cameras in a confessional. "He'll always say, 'God, can you believe you did it?' And I'm like, 'I can't, this is crazy.' … We aren't supposed to be here, like how did we get in this cool party? We weren't the cool kids, how did we do it?"

Not done living

At 52, Shannen Doherty says she's "not done with living … loving …creating … or changing things for the better," even as what was Stage 4 breast cancer has now spread to her bones. If anything, terminal cancer has made her more driven than ever before, she recently told People.

"When you ask yourself, 'Why me? Why did I get cancer?' and then 'Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?,' that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life," said the "Beverly Hills: 90210" alum.

"People just assume that it means you can't walk, you can't eat, you can't work. They put you out to pasture at a very early age —'You're done, you're retired,' and we're not. We're vibrant, and we have such a different outlook on life," she continued. "We are people who want to work and embrace life and keep moving forward."

That's why the actress is launching her new "memoir-style podcast," "Let's Be Clear" on Dec. 6 on iHeartRadio, according to the outlet. The show will cover Shannen's eight-year battle with cancer as well as her career, her relationships, her health and more. She hopes it will help raise awareness about the disease — and illustrate how much people diagnosed with terminal cancer have to offer.

As Shannen put it, "We're the people who want to work the most, because we're just so grateful for every second, every hour, every day we get to be here."

Hall & Oates ruling

Music duo Hall & Oates have more time to hash out a deal after a Nashville judge ruled in Daryl Hall's favor in an increasingly ugly lawsuit over John Oates' desire to sell his share of their joint venture, Billboard reported.

The Nov. 30 ruling essentially extends a temporary restraining order on John's ability to sell his share of the band's trademarks, record royalty income, website and more, to Primary Wave, according to NBC News.

The '80s-era chart-toppers have issued nasty declarations about one another's motives in multiple court filings since early November, with Daryl accusing John of the "ultimate partnership betrayal" — an attempt to sell his shares of their business without Daryl's approval. John, for his part, slammed Daryl for allegedly making "inflammatory, outlandish, and inaccurate statements about me," NBC reported.

They now have until February 2024 to continue arbitration in the matter.

In memoriam

The Pogues' frontman Shane MacGowan, who brought Irish music to London's punk rock scene and beyond, died on Nov. 30 after battling multiple health problems. He was 65.

In a moving announcement on Instagram, his wife described the singer as "the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything." She continued: "There's no way to describe the loss that I am feeling and the longing for just one more of his smiles that lit up my world. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for your presence in this world you made it so very bright and you gave so much joy to so many people with your heart and soul and your music."

Despite his well-documented, hard-partying ways, Shane's songwriting has been acclaimed for decades, with the Pogues' ballad, "Fairytale of New York" becoming an unlikely Christmas classic. In the wake of his death, artists and entertainers from across Hollywood and across the pond have paid tribute on social media.

"It's amazing, it's great. I love it!" she told "Access Hollywood" of newlywed life in November 2023. "I feel like I won the jackpot. He's so amazing. He's amazing. It's like our lives have synced together and we're just moving forward. He has a lot of kids, I have a lot of kids and he just loves it and accepts it all and it's wonderful."

The holidays will be a busy, busy time in the Brown-Woolley household.

"We have 16 grandkids between us, so we're going to have [the] best of all holidays," Christine Brown told "Access Hollywood" in November 2023. "It's going to be big, huge family. All about family always."

Christine Brown was the first "Sister Wives" star to leave her plural marriage, saying goodbye to Kody Brown in 2021 after a 26-year union. Others followed suit: both Janelle Brown and Meri Brown left Kody in 2022.

Robyn Brown is now the only wife who's still with the family patriarch. Although Christine hasn't reached out to her former sister wife in a while, her daughter Mykelti still speaks to Robyn often.

"I really haven't talked to Robyn in a long time. She is really close to Mykelti, so because she's so close to Mykelti and Mykelti loves her and wants her in her life, she's always going to be in my life," Christine told "Access Hollywood" in November 2023.

Now that Christine Brown has remarried and found her "forever" with new husband David Woolley, she wants the same for Kody and Robyn Brown.

"Be happy with each other. Please live your life and be happy and find some peace," Christine told "Access Hollywood" in November 2023 when asked if she had any advice for the couple. "I'd say our plural family is a success because we have all these amazing kids together, so let's just keep moving forward doing the best that we can."

In an October 2023 interview with Us Weekly, Kody Brown embraced being a one-woman man.

"I would never be interested in marrying again," he said, adding that he's "not a polygamist" anymore.

When asked about former plural wife Christine Brown, he said, "I never felt like I had the right to say, 'Hey, listen, I don't love this woman. I want a divorce.' I never felt like that was in my wheelhouse, but it was in theirs. So Christine made a choice, and that's kind of where it's at. She chose to go, and it's a blessing and a curse. It's been very, very, very hard. But it was her being brave enough to do it, because I was never going to do that."

When asked about Christine's new relationship, he relayed, "I honestly haven't witnessed much of it." Kody then added that he and his ex "don't associate almost at all."

Chalk up another win for Kelly Clarkson in her messy divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

Since calling it quits in 2020, the former couple has fought over money, property and everything in between. The split was all the more layered due to the fact that Brandon was her manager for years. Now, however, his handling of her affairs is coming back to bite him, as a labor commissioner ruled in November 2023 that Brandon overcharged his then-wife during his tenure working for her and he's been ordered to repay her millions.

Citing legal documents, TMZ reported on Nov. 30 that a California labor commissioner ruled that Brandon Blackstock crossed the line as Kelly Clarkson's manager when he booked gigs and inked deals for the star for her work on "The Voice," with Norwegian Cruise Line and Wayfair and as the host of the Billboard Music Awards.

Those gigs are supposed to be lawfully secured via agents, not managers.

Brandon, the report stated, collected fees for booking the gigs. The commissioner has ordered him to fork over a seven-figure check to Kelly to repay what he charged her.

The Nov. 30 report reveals that Brandon Blackstock was ordered to pay ex-wife Kelly Clarkson $2,641,374 for overcharging her while he was her manager.

That figure could have been much higher, but the commissioner let Brandon keep the money he got for scoring her her gig hosting "The Kelly Clarkson Show."

Brandon has said he will appeal the ruling.

After their divorce was finalized, Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock continued to fight over her Montana ranch.

In the fall of 2021, Kelly was awarded the ranch during divorce proceedings. Brandon had argued that it was marital property and he continued to live there. In fact, for a while, he refused to leave.

As part of a settlement, the "American Idol" veteran agreed to pay her ex a 5.12% share of the Montana ranch, which she bought with her own money during their marriage.

Still, a judge made it perfectly clear that the ranch was Kelly's and Kelly's alone.

In June 2022, Brandon finally left the Big Sky ranch.

The whole property is valued at around $18 million, according to estimates.

After their 2020 split, Brandon Blackstock filed legal documents asking Kelly Clarkson to pay him $436,000 in monthly support payments — that's $301K in spousal support and $135K in child support.

He didn't quite get that, but he did still score a lot of money. TMZ reported that Kelly had to pay Brandon $1.3 million plus $45,000 a month in child support for their two kids, River Rose, 9, and Remington Alexander, 7. He's is also getting $115,000 a month in spousal support, but that ends in January 2024.

The famed musician is locked in a bitter legal battle with his ex-wife over their 2012 divorce settlement, and there's a link to a man who's been deemed the richest person in the world.

In new legal documents obtained by People magazine in November 2023, Lyndie Benson — who was married to the famed saxophonist for 21 years — says that she believes he's violating terms of their divorce agreement by not selling his Malibu home, which is valued at more than $40 million. The current resident of that home: Jeff Bezos.

Kenny G and Lyndie Benson married on April 5, 1992, and separated on Jan. 9, 2012.

During their divorce, he agreed to pay her $40,000 a month in spousal support.

Kenny has since attempted to lower the amount, claiming his income has decreased and he can no longer afford the tab.

It's estimated that Kenny has paid his ex nearly $4 million since their split.

Lyndie Benson is now battling ex-husband Kenny G over the Malibu mansion he allegedly rented to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for $600,000 a month. According to People magazine, she's asked to see emails pertaining to the rental agreement of the property known as Grayfox.

The clothing designer claims in legal docs to have "made several requests" for Kenny to "turn over all emails and documentation pertaining to the alleged lease with Bezos." Kenny has reportedly refused, citing "privacy concerns" for Jeff, whom Forbes has previously called the richest man in the world.

Lyndie argues that the Grammy winner is "violating the terms of their divorce agreement by not selling the house, which would potentially earn her a profit, and instead holding onto it and making rental income."

Lyndie Benson believes that the Grayfox Malibu property is worth a substantial sum and suspects that ex Kenny G is keeping it so he doesn't have to give her a portion of the sale.

In court documents obtained by People magazine, she cited an alleged agreement she had with Kenny. She claimed "in the event the Grayfox Property is ultimately sold for more than $40,000,000" that she "shall receive 25% of any net profit defined as any sums remaining over and above $40,000,000."

Kenny's lawyer has argued that "there is no order … for Kenny to sell the Grayfox Property," adding that Lyndie will get a "potential payout… if he chooses to sell it."

Court documents filed on behalf of Kenny G in the spring of 2023 stated, "Kenny, who is now 65 years old, has been paying spousal support to Lyndie for more than nine years. Kenny is a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist with a long successful career and more than 15 albums. However, as explained in the accompanying declaration of Kenny, for the last 2-3 years Kenny's touring opportunities, where he earns the most income, have not only declined but his percentage of earnings from the tours have also declined. Kenny's income has substantially declined steadily since 2018."

They added, "Lyndie is 57 years old, and, as far as Kenny knows, in good health. Lyndie has refused to become fully self-supporting for almost 10 years. Kenny should not have to continue to bear the burden of her refusal to do so."
