Pete Davidson in the mix to host Oscars: Report

Pete Davidson is in demand.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that the Academy Awards will have a host this year for the first time since 2018. On Jan. 12, a source told Page Six that Pete is being eyed for the gig.

Scott Kirkland/PictureGroup for TUBI/Shutterstock

"His people are talking to producers," the source said, adding that the show is looking for a "reset."

The Oscars has long hoped to bring in a younger demographic, and there's belief that Pete can do that, as the New Year's Eve special he hosted with Miley Cyrus for NBC brought in 6.3 million viewers.

"He gets a demographic that is hard to get," the source said. "He is in a good space, his career is doing well and he is on the rise. He is a sex symbol, unlikely, but he is big with a certain generation."

Pete, Page Six points out, has previously worked with Will Packer, who is producing the Oscars in late March. In addition to Pete, other names have been thrown out as possible hosts, including Tom Holland, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Rock. Pete, though, might be the hottest of them all.

Thanks, in part, to his high profile relationship with Kim Kardashian, the "SNL" funnyman seems to be everywhere these days. On Jan. 11, the couple was photographed at dinner in Los Angeles, and they later grabbed ice cream while holding hands.

"Kim has such a great time with Pete. He makes her laugh, plays around and has a sense of humor," a source recently told ET. "It is nice for Kim to be around that. Pete knows how to talk to Kim. He is the most confident guy, but not cocky. It is why it works with them. Kim thinks Pete is super sexy and likes how he knows so much about comedy, since that is a world she doesn't know as much about."

'Top Chef' fan favorite reveals 40-pound weight loss

Gregory Gourdet is feeling on top of the world after what he calls a "health reset."

That "reset" saw the "Top Chef" alum losing 40 pounds.

Gregory, who's appeared in multiple seasons of the Bravo show, took to Instagram on Jan. 11 to show off his new physique. The Portland-based chef also explained how he got to the point where he weighed 212 pounds.

"Between gyms closing, a running injury (I have a torn meniscus) and survival eating at work, I gained a good amount of weight in 2020," he wrote on social media. "At my highest weight ever, I pressed the health reset button in July. But everything that had worked in the past including yoga and intermittent fasting just wasn't working."

"I power walked on a treadmill for months until my therapist told me I could run again. I went keto for the first time and extended my fasting to 20 to 24 hours a few days a week and finally started losing the extra weight," he continued. "Spent hours diving deeper into the health benefits of fasting and keto."

In his lengthy message, Gregory thanked several people who helped him during his "pandemic weight journey."

Now weighing 172 pounds, the chef encouraged his Instagram followers to be happy and comfortable in their skin.

"Reminder that health isn't measured by weight. Thick or thin, always love yourself. Live in whatever body you feel comfortable in and don't compare yourself to people on the internet," he said. "We all come in different shapes and sizes and can all do different things in our bodies."

Gregory also didn't mince words, admitting the weight loss journey was hard. "I still have a very long road to recovery," he added.

Zayn Malik reportedly joins dating site for 'curvy women'

Zayn Malik's love life… there's an app for that!

Throughout the week, rampant reports have claimed that the former One Direction singer has signed up for a dating app called WooPlus, which is aimed at people who "love plus-size singles."

https://twitter.com/tibidii27/status/1479526980798275584

The suspicion is pegged to a video on the Internet that shows a man strongly resembling Zayn on the site. The man appears to use the name Zed on his WooPlus profile. His location is tagged as Ottsville, Philadelphia.

Zayn lived in Pennsylvania while dating ex Gigi Hadid.

Page Six notes that WooPlus users must verify their identity via facial recognition technology before they're allowed to make an account. Because of this, fans are convinced that Zayn really is looking for love on the site.

Broadimage/Shutterstock

According to its website, WooPlus is a "dating app for curvy people to find and enjoy love."

"An inclusive lifestyle choice for curvy people to feel attractive, confident, and loved for who they are. Love is at the core of everything we do," the site reads. "WooPlus is the best online dating app for big beautiful women (BBW), big handsome men (BHM), and all people who love plus-size singles."

While some may be surprised, particularly given Zayn's ex is a supermodel, he has spoken about his love of curvy women in the past.

"I like girls that are a bit chunky in certain areas — the nice areas," he told Billboard in 2016. "I like a fuller woman."

Bob Saget was reportedly 'tucked in bed' when body was discovered

Bob Saget didn't suffer before his untimely death, according to a new report.

TMZ said the "Fuller House" star was "tucked in bed" when his body was discovered in his room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 9. The room lights were off and all indications point to Bob dying in his sleep.

Charles Sykes/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

Although the official cause of death won't be known for several months, the working theory is that the actor died of a stroke or heart attack.

Bob, the report said, had spoken to his wife, Kelly Rizzo, on the phone before going to bed. Kelly supposedly grew concerned when she hadn't heard from him the next day, especially given the fact he was supposed to fly back to Los Angeles in the afternoon. Kelly eventually called the hotel to have security check on her husband. That's when hotel security entered the room and found the former "America's Funniest Home Videos" host's body in bed.

Bob had recently gotten over COVID, but that's not believed to have contributed to his death.

In fact, the actor had done a standup comedy gig in Jacksonville, Florida, the night before his death, and audience members said he seemed normal. Bob even tweeted about the show from the stage the day of his death.

"Loved tonight's show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience," he captioned a selfie late Saturday night.

After Bob's death, many in Hollywood publicly mourned him on social media.

"We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today.  He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter," the Saget family said in a statement. "Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world."

Simon Cowell secretly engaged to longtime partner: Report

Simon Cowell secretly popped the question last month to his longtime partner, Lauren Silverman, while vacationing in Barbados, a new report claims.

David Fisher/Shutterstock

The "X Factor" judge reportedly proposed on Christmas Eve in front of the son he shares with Lauren, 7-year-old Eric. Lauren's son from a previous marriage, Adam, was also on hand for the special moment.

"Simon and Lauren are ridiculously, nauseatingly in love – incredibly, lockdown brought them closer than ever," a source told The Sun. "Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears – happy tears – and obviously said 'yes' straight away."

The engagement comes more than a decade after the 62-year-old music mogul famously said he didn't believe in marriage.

"It was important to Simon that the kids were there too, as he adores them both and the family they've become," the source said. "Lauren has been Simon's rock over these past few years – supporting him when he broke his back, and through thick and thin generally. They make a wonderful couple. Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he's realized he's met the woman of his dreams – and couldn't be happier. In the words of Beyonce, it was time to put a ring on it."

Simon has never married before.

David Fisher/Shutterstock

Simon and Lauren first met in 2004 while she was married to one of his good friends. They went public with their relationship in 2013, and Lauren soon announced she was pregnant.

The Sun claims it confirmed the engagement news with Simon's spokesman.

Ben Affleck calls box office bomb 'Gigli' a 'gift' because he met J.Lo

The 2003 movie "Gigli" will go down as one of the biggest box office bombs of the past two decades. Despite the film being the punchline of many jokes, Ben Affleck, who starred in the flop, has called the movie a "gift."

Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

It was during the filming of "Gigli" that Ben met his lady love Jennifer Lopez, who also starred in the film.

"[Gigli] didn't work and we did five weeks of reshoots, which we knew were not gonna work. It was a movie that didn't work….," Ben told his pal Matt Damon in an interview for Entertainment Weekly. "It's just that it became a story in and of itself. The funny name, the Jennifer Lopez romance and overexposure of that, it was kind of a perfect storm."

Shutterstock

As the movie was opening in theaters, Ben recalled a discussion with the film's director, Marty Brest.

"I remember talking to Marty the Friday it came out and I was like it's just spectacular, it's a tsunami, it couldn't be worse. This is as bad as it gets," Ben relayed to Matt.

The film's poor reception even caused Ben to shift roles in the moviemaking business, something he's now grateful for.

"Interestingly, I learned more about directing on that movie than anything else because Marty is a brilliant director, really gifted. It's not like it's worse than all… there's a bunch of horrible movies and in terms of losing money, I've had five movies — at least! — that have lost more money than 'Gigli' has," he said, later noting, "If the reaction to Gigli hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't have ultimately decided, 'I don't really have any other avenue but to direct movies,' which has turned out to be the real love of my professional life. So in those ways, it's a gift."

David Fisher/Shutterstock

Ben also isn't blind to the fact that he met J.Lo on the set, as the two began dating in 2002 and got engaged that year. "Bennifer" would ultimately split in early 2004. However, the duo reconciled in early 2021

"I did get to meet Jennifer, the relationship with whom has been really meaningful to me in my life," Ben said in the new interview.

"Gigli," Ben says, also taught him a lot about public perception.

"But really, the truth about that movie and what it taught me was how much everything around a movie sort of dictates the way people see it. But for being a movie that's such a famous bomb and a disaster, very few people actually saw the movie," he said. "It doesn't work, by the way. It's a sort of horse's head in a cow's body. And the studio at the time, because I had begun having this relationship with Jennifer Lopez, which was selling a lot of magazines and appeared to generate a lot of enthusiasm, they just predictably latched onto, 'They want a romantic comedy. They want the two of them together. More of that!' And it was just like that 'SNL' sketch: "Bad Idea."

Geena Davis recalls directors making sure 'I knew my place' after Oscar win

Geena Davis was widely celebrated after she won the Oscar for best supporting actress in 1989, but the reception she got from a few directors was less than enthusiastic.

Anthony Harvey/Shutterstock

While chatting with the "Allison Interviews" podcast, Geena recalled how she felt after the honor.

"I didn't ever think, 'This is my magic ticket to doing everything I want to do,' or, like, now I was at the top of the A-list, or anything like that," she said. "I didn't think of it that way, but I did unexpectedly feel a tremendous feeling of having accomplished something. I thought, 'Well, I got that out of the way. I never have to wonder if I'm going to get one of these things.'"

A few unnamed directors, though, wanted to flex their muscles after she won the coveted award for her performance in "The Accidental Tourist."

"I had two directors, after I won the Oscar, who I had a rocky start with, because they assumed that I was going to think I was 'all that,' and they wanted to make sure that I didn't feel like I was 'all that,'" she recalled.

Lennox Mclendon/AP/Shutterstock

"Without having met me or having spent any time with me or anything, they just assumed I was going to be like, 'Well, now no one is going to tell me what to do!'" she continued. "I think maybe because I was a woman, the directors felt that way. And maybe it was even unconscious bias that they would maybe do it to a woman and not a man. But they didn't want a woman to potentially cause them any problems. They wanted to make sure I knew my place, and maybe … it probably wouldn't happen to a man."

Geena went on to be nominated for another Oscar after 1991's "Thelma and Louise."

Jenna Jameson loses ability to walk after 'rare, autoimmune disorder'

Jenna Jameson has lost the ability to walk after after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.

David Fisher/Shutterstock

Over the weekend, the actress posted a photo from the hospital, and her partner, Lior Bitton, later detailed in a video that Jenna hadn't been feeling well for several weeks. Jenna, Lior said, went to the hospital last week and was released. After returning home shortly thereafter, she couldn't walk.

"Then she came back home and she couldn't carry herself," he said. "Her muscles in her legs were very weak. So she wasn't able to walk to the bathroom. She was falling on the way back or to the bathroom, I would have to pick her up and carry her to bed. And then within two days, it got really not so good, her legs started to not hold her, she wasn't able to walk."

Lior soon took Jenna back to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, which the CDC describes as a "rare, autoimmune disorder in which a person's own immune system damages the nerves, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis."

Sometimes those who've been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome have permanent nerve damage but most recover.

In a Jan. 10 Instagram video, Jenna said, "The doctors suspect Guillain-Barré syndrome and have started my IVIG treatment. I am in the hospital and will likely remain here until treatment is complete. I hope to be out of here soon."

Hugh Hefner's widow, Crystal, has 'removed everything fake' from her body

Crystal Hefner has moved on from her Playboy days, and she's now more authentic than ever.

The model took to Instagram this week to speak about how her life has changed since her husband, Hugh Hefner, passed away in 2017. That change isn't limited to just her relationship status but also her appearance and her social media following.

Kevan Brooks/Admedia/Sipa/Shutterstock

"After the last handful of years staying true to myself on social media, I feel that all the people here with me at this point actually care and are invested in my life in a positive way and for that I thank you," she wrote on Instagram. "Over five years, my account has shifted from not always safe for work posts to my REAL safe for work life. The real me. I was living for other people before, to make others happy, suffering internally in the process."

Crystal, who was married to Hef from 2012 to 2017, went on to speak about posting risqué photos to her social media — something she no longer does.

MediaPunch/Shutterstock

"Certain photos grow followings fast. In short, sex sells. I don't know whether I felt empowered by dressing scantily clad, showing cleavage, etc …or if I just felt it was expected of me or what… but now I can confidently and 100% proudly say, modesty is what empowers me these days, and because it feels so much better internally, it will probably be this way for the rest of my life," she wrote.

Hefner's widow added, "I removed everything fake from my body and deleted all my old photos. I am more authentic, vulnerable and feel that I belong more to myself. I am mine."

The 35-year-old also discussed her social media following decreasing after she began posting more modest pictures.

"I was watching the girls that had similar pages keep posting the same scantily clad stuff and growing exponentially while I tanked hard," she said, adding that there's since been a shift. "Most days the count is growing. Now my women followers are giving the men followers a run for their money. Now I truly feel I have an army of supporters that care and see an actual soul behind the lens. For that I thank you."

She later added, "I will make it my mission to try and help in all ways that I can while staying true to myself."

Betty White suffered stroke six days before death, death certificate reveals

Betty White died from complications of a stroke, her death certificate revealed.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health document, which was obtained by TMZ, said the "Golden Girls" icon officially died of a cerebrovascular accident, which is a loss of blood flow to part of the brain, resulting in brain tissue damage.

Betty suffered the stroke six days before her Dec. 31 death, the certificate noted.

Jim Smeal/BEI/Shutterstock

Although her condition between the time of her stroke and the date of her death isn't known, TMZ reported, "Betty was alert and coherent after the stroke, and she died peacefully in her sleep at home."

Betty's agent previously said that Betty died of natural causes, rebutting unfounded online claims stating otherwise.

"People are saying her death was related to getting a [COVID-19] booster shot three days earlier, but that is not true. She died of natural causes," the agent told People magazine, adding, "Her death should not be politicized — that is not the life she lived."

Evan Agostini/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

Betty's death came less than three weeks before she would have turned 100 years old.

On Jan. 3, "Mama's Family" star Vicki Lawrence — who worked with Betty on the show — told Page Six a bittersweet story about Betty's final moments. Vicki said she reached out to mutual friend Carol Burnett after hearing news of Betty's death.

"I texted Carol and said, 'This just sucks. I hate this. It's just horrible to see the people you love so much go away,'" Vicki shared. "Carol wrote back and said, 'I know, I know. I spoke to Betty's assistant, who was with her when she passed, and she said the very last word out of her mouth was 'Allen.'"

Betty's late third husband, "Password" host Allen Ludden, died from stomach cancer in 1981.

"How sweet is that?" Vicki added. "I said, 'That is so sweet. God, I hope that's true. For all of us, I really hope it's true, a lovely thought.'"

Gabrielle Union reveals shocking 'Bring It On' secret

Gabrielle Union wasn't supposed to be in 2000's "Bring It On" as much as she was, she shockingly revealed on social media.

In a TikTok video, the actress claimed that she and her Black co-stars were supposed to be prominently featured in the trailer — but not necessarily the movie.

Matt Baron/Shutterstock

"Story time!" she said over clips of the hugely popular cheerleading-themed movie. "So we shot these snippets that you see here after the movie wrapped, because once test-audiences saw the movie they wanted more of the Clovers."

The Clovers were the Black cheerleading squad from East Compton, California — the rivals of the prominently white Toros cheer team helmed by Kirsten Dunst's character.

"We shot these [scenes] only for the trailer — not for the movie — to make people think we were in the movie more than we were. The end," she said.

Fans erupted on Twitter following the claim.

"That's so evil. Why couldn't they have just given y'all more scenes," one person wrote, according to the New York Post. Another person described the move as an example of Blackfishing.

Ben Affleck reflects on the viral, timeless 'Sad Affleck' meme

Ben Affleck has some thoughts about his "Sad Affleck" meme from years ago, and he's not thrilled. He's also not sad.

"I got to a place where [the public perception] was so different from who I am," he told the Los Angeles Times, "that I just stopped reading and stopped caring."

Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

Back in 2016, Ben went viral while promoting "Batman v Superman." During one interview, Ben looked somewhat melancholy and his mind seemed to drift off as Henry Cavill spoke to a reporter. Seeing this, a fan set the interview to Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence" and zoomed the camera close into Ben's face. Soon after, the meme/video went viral.

Nearly six years later, Ben admits to being concerned about how his children —Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 9 — would view the meme, which was intended to be lighthearted.

"As my kids got older and started seeing the internet themselves, that's the difficult part," he said. "Even the 'Sad Affleck' meme—that was funny to me. I mean, there's nobody who hasn't felt that way at a junket. But then my kids see it and I think, 'Oh, are they going to think their dad is fundamentally sad or they have to worry about me?' That's really tough."

Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

Ben, though, doesn't stew over the meme and notes that he got some solid advice from a therapist in the early 2000s.

"I was really struggling," he said. "People were just writing vicious, awful, hateful stuff about me all the time and it really started to affect me. The therapist said, 'What I find about criticism is that if you can look at it honestly and take in what resonates with you, then the rest of it you can let go.' And that was a process that got me into directing and gave me the confidence to start doing that."

"I'm really happy now, and I feel great," he added. "I'm not perfect. I don't do everything right. But I wake up and feel good about the choices I made the day before, and if I don't, I address it right away. I've got to hope and believe that people will still like the movies I make if I'm not in the midst of something they think of as agonizing."

Britney Spears' ex pleads guilty to stalking charge

Britney Spears' ex-husband has pleaded guilty to stalking.

Jason Alexander, who was infamously married to the pop star for 55 hours back in 2004, was arrested on Dec. 30, 2021, in Franklin, Tennessee, for violating an order of protection and aggravated stalking. It's unclear whom he allegedly stalked, but the victim was female.

Williamson County Sheriffs Office

On Jan. 10, TMZ reported that the infamous ex pleaded guilty to misdemeanor stalking and was given 11 months, 29 days of probation. As part of a plea deal, Jason will have to undergo a mental health screening and submit to random drug screenings. He's also prohibited from contacting the victim.

The arrest was Jason's third in 12 months

Over the summer, Jason was arrested for allegedly breaching security at a Tennessee airport. Jason confirmed the airport incident occurred during an Instagram Live on Aug. 31, 2021, saying he ended up "in handcuffs because of something stupid." Radar Online claimed Jason was "double-locked" in handcuffs and detained after he left the secure side of TSA at the Nashville airport. Britney's ex then wandered into a "non-secure area" before attempting to come back through TSA and skip the line.

Jason was also arrested in Nashville in January 2021 on DUI and drug charges, including driving under the influence, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession or casual exchange of a controlled substance.
