On May 10, FOX announced that Tom Brady had officially signed on to serve as the network's lead NFL analyst once his playing career finally comes to an end. (The iconic quarterback has waffled on retiring several times in recent years.) The New York Post then reported that under the terms of his deal with FOX, the professional football player is set to bank a whopping $375M over the course of 10 years. After that figure got out, FOX released a statement insisting that "what has been reported isn't an accurate description of the deal." But they stopped short of clarifying exactly how much they're planning to fork over to the NFL GOAT, prompting speculation that he is, in fact, set to take home a paycheck somewhere in that ballpark.

A card, a cake, some cash and balloons wouldn't cut it for Sean "Diddy" Combs. The rapper and music mogul gave his twin daughters, Jessie James and D'Lila Star, much more epic gifts for their sweet 16th in December — luxury vehicles. Video shared on social media shows that during their intergalactic-themed joint birthday party, Diddy escorted the girls, whose mother is the late Kim Porter, outside the venue where new matching Range Rovers — one white, one black and both topped with big red bows — were waiting for them in the street, eliciting screams of joy from the girls. Page Six reported that a 2022 Range Rover typically ranges in price from $44,700 to $215,500.

During an Aug. 11, 2022, interview with USA Today, Brooklyn Beckham revealed that he has about 100 tattoos including around 70 dedicated to his new wife, actress and heiress Nicola Peltz. "She always cries when I get her another tattoo. I always love to surprise her with new ink," he said. The social media chef's inked tributes to the "Bates Motel" actress include her eyes on the back of his neck, his wedding vows on his arm, her name on the side of his neck, the letter N on his ring finger, the word "married" on the side of his hand and her late grandmother's name on his wrist. Most people just send a Christmas card. Tom Cruise isn't most people. Instead, in December 2022, he wished his fans well for the holidays in mid-air while skydiving during filming for the next two "Mission: Impossible" movies. "I didn't want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters and thank you for supporting 'Top Gun: Maverick,'" the movie star said in a video he posted on social media right before he jumped out of a plane. "Where was I?" he quipped while in free-fall. "Oh yeah. Thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick, and thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime." He then told the camera that was falling with him, "I'm running out of altitude, so I have to get back to work. We have to get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday, we'll see you at the movies."

Kendall Jenner went viral after the May 12 episode of "The Kardashians" showed her struggling to "chop up some cucumber" for a snack. Mom Kris Jenner initially offered up her chef's assistance, which the model declined: "It's pretty easy," she said, prompting an encouraging "You go, girl!" from the Kardashian family matriarch. Kris then warned her daughter to "be careful" as Kendall, who was 25 at the time, admitted she was "kind of scared" of accidentally hurting herself. She then put her fingers dangerously close to the knife's blade and wondered aloud if "cucumbers have seeds" (they do!) before confessing, "I definitely am not a good cutter, so don't zoom in on me. During an interview with Variety that debuted online on Aug. 3, 2022, "The White Lotus" star Jennifer Coolidge revealed that she "got a lot of play" from starring as Stifler's mom in the "American Pie" franchise. On July 16, 2022, Dr. Louie Dean Valencia tweeted that starting in the spring of 2023, he'll teach a history course at Texas State University centered around Harry Styles. That's right: At just 28, the former One Direction singer's contributions to pop culture are so significant, there's now a history course about his career and its impact. After the UberFacts Twitter account tweeted that the rapper "employs a full-time blunt roller who makes between $40,000 and $50,000 a year," the "Gin and Juice" chart-topper replied, "Their salary went up!!" He added that the pay bump was due to "inflation."

On June 15, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville announced that Dolly Parton had recently donated $1 million to the organization's pediatric infectious disease research efforts. "I love all children. No child should ever have to suffer, and I'm willing to do my part to try and keep as many of them as I can as healthy and safe as possible," the country music icon said in a statement. It's the second time in the past few years that the singer-actress has made a major donation to VUMC: In April 2020, she donated $1M to the organization's COVID-19 research efforts.

In March 2021, the superstar filed an application to trademark the term "Queen of Christmas" for use in various projects and products. Her bid went public in July 2022, infuriating other women who've been called the Queen of Christmas over the years. Singer Elizabeth Chan, for example, dropped an album titled "Queen of Christmas" in 2021. Variety reported on Aug. 15, 2022, that Elizabeth filed a declaration of opposition to Mariah's trademark request: "Christmas [came] way before any of us on earth, and hopefully will be around way after any of us on earth. And I feel very strongly that no one person should hold onto anything around Christmas or monopolize it in the way that Mariah seeks to in perpetuity. That's just not the right thing to do. Days later, the makeup mogul took to Instagram to brazenly share a photo of herself and boyfriend Travis Scott embracing in front of two private jets. With King Charles III now on the throne, eldest son Prince William has inherited a private estate valued at around $1.2 billion. William, who's now first in line to the throne, oversees the Duchy of Cornwall estate — and now holds the Duke of Cornwall and Prince of Wales titles — after inheriting them from his father. The duchy, which dates back to 1337, is made up of almost 140,000 acres of land and property in southwest England and the revenue it generates is "used to fund the public, private and charitable activities" of the Duke of Cornwall. He's not obligated to pay any form of tax on his estate, though he's expected to follow Charles' lead, as the king voluntarily started paying taxes in 1993. "Of course, voluntary income tax [is] not a fixed rate, and they don't have to declare how much income they're making their tax on," Laura Clancy, an author of a book on royal finances who's a lecturer in media at Lancaster University, told CNN Business. "So actually it's just like plucking a figure out of thin air." In 2021, Forbes reported that the queen's personal wealth was approximately $500 million. Most of that now goes to Charles.

While touring her California mansion for a Vogue video that debuted online on Feb. 18, Kim Kardashian showed off three vehicles from her fleet that she had customized to match her home's achromatic color scheme. "I wanted my cars to kind of blend in. This is Santa's workshop," she said. Khloe replied, "I can't wait to be wealthy enough to forget I have property somewhere — just like, 'Oh, I have a condo in Beverly Hills? I forgot about that!'" Kris later explained in a confessional, "Here's the thing: I have a condo and my mom has one and my cousin [Cici Bussey] has one, and we all live nearby and I kind of forgot it was there. Martha Stewart is gunning for a Guinness World Record… On the May 17 episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the domestic doyenne revealed that she's in the process of building the world's largest garden maze at her farm in New York. The Dole Plantation's Pineapple Garden Maze in Hawaii currently holds the record, which the lifestyle entrepreneur hopes to claim when she finishes planting her own maze comprised of different types of trees and shrubs in a three-acre paddock previously occupied by her horses. "I've planted four big rows so far," she said. "I took my horse on a ride through the maze. We got lost already, which is great. It's like dressage: You go in there and you have to make these sharp turns, and he actually liked it because it makes them think. So I can't wait to get the whole thing done. … But I have to find enough plant material. It's hard to find that many trees. I've already planted like 600 trees." …Geeze, Martha, leave some trees for the rest of us!

Nichelle Nichols — who portrayed Communications Officer Lt. Nyota Uhura on "Star Trek" — will receive an appropriate send-off in the coming days when her DNA and ashes are launched "between 150 million to 300 million kilometers into deep space" on Celestis Inc.'s Vulcan Rocket, the company announced on Aug. 25. Nichelle — the first Black woman featured in a lead role on a network television series — worked for many years to recruit minority astronauts, though she never made it to space herself before she passed away on July 30 at 89. Nichelle's ashes will be in the company of some of her former "Star Trek" colleagues including the show's creator, Gene Roddenberry and his wife, Majel Barrett Roddenberry; "Star Trek" engineer actor James "Scotty" Doohan; and Douglas Trumbull of "2001: A Space Odyssey" fame, according to "Entertainment Tonight." Nichelle's son, Kyle Johnson, will also give a portion of his DNA so he can be by his mother's side in spirit on her journey. "My only regret is that I cannot share this eternal tribute standing beside my mother at the launch," Kyle said in a statement. According to Vogue, Nails of LA collaborated with the fine jewelry line Marrow Fine to create the custom nail art, which featured 880 diamonds and was worth around $30K.
